Poetry: Week 2

National Poetry Month Project.

After the first week:
1. A blog post will open up each Monday instead of every single day.
2. Super posts must include seven poems representing the seven days included in one week.
3. By the end of the month, you should have posted a total of 30 poems (for an average of one per day).

What will be the same as the Slice of Life Story Challenge:

Building on our classroom community that we have developed, comments are encouraged. Remember to be encouraging, sharing, and positive. Any negativity will be deleted and participation points will be taken away.

At the end of National Poetry Month:

Each student will present their best/favorite poem to the class. You can create a YouTube video*, a dramatic audio recording, or read it aloud in class. For DE's, if you do not have the ability to do a shareable video or audio recording, you may send the poem to me, and I will read it for you. This last option is a last resort because you will not experience the public speaking portion of the assignment.

*Please set all YouTube videos that you create for class to "Unlisted" and share the link with me via email. Doing so will ensure your privacy on the internet.

Be prepared to present your poem in whichever form you choose on Monday, May 4, 2015.

This assignment will be worth 100 points total:
60 points for the poems (2 points per poem)
40 points for the presentation.

  1. 1. Why is every moment that I enjoy in life, gone so quickly
And why is every moment in life that I dread, last so long
Why is every happy thing always fleeting
And why is every bad thing always staying.

    2. Pizza
    Oh so delicious and warm
    So soft and tasty
    So amazing and beautiful

    3. Spring

    The season of new chances

    4. You can't be brave
    If you don't get hurt
    You can't learn
    If you don't make mistakes
    You'll never be successful
    If you don't encounter failure

    5. Don't forget to say thank you
Don't forget to say I love you

    1. A sweet friend,
    Refreshes the soul.
    Love till the end,
    Go smoke a bowl.

    Smoking is bad,
    It makes you a fag.
    Don't be the dumb lad,
    Taking a drag.

    If cigs could speak,
    They'd tell you one thing,
    "I don't come cheap,
    Sorrow I bring".

    2. Be the change,
    You wish to see,
    Don't rearrange,
    What you believe.

    If you don't act,
    you'll be acted upon,
    good things come,
    From following God.

    3. Take some skates,
    Go on a date,
    Do not be late,
    Or you she'll hate.

    Never lie,
    You stupid fly,
    Go and die,
    You big fat guy.

    Love her long,
    Put down the bong,
    Turn up the song,
    So love is strong.

    Go tell your hun,
    You like her bum,
    This poem is dumb,
    So now I'm done.

    4. A man with a plan,
Well, he wrote a nice note,
    To someone he loved once,
Who took a part of his heart.

    This girl was his world,
    Just look what she took,
    Anything and everything,
    Now he's drinking, not thinking.

    Her trust is now lust.
    She dares to not care.
    her love isn't just.
    She'll never be there.

    He has given up trying,
For this girl who is lying.
    Spends his days crying.
    Now he's slowly dying...

    5. Poetry month,
    It's so much fun,
    Haha I'm kidding,
    it's actually dumb.

    I'm not a good poet,
    So why should I try?
    In case you don't know-it,
    I'm quite the shy guy.

    Homework is lame,
    I have quite a lot,
    But I'm not ashamed,
    To give it a shot.

    So here I am writing,
    This's me when I'm trying,
So I'll write more than one,
But for now I am done.

  4. 1. Give me more than what you think
    You have to offer
I know it can be done
You have so much inside of you
    Hiding within that outer shell
    Is a bursting potential
Full of love and beautiful promise
    Share it with me

    2. Sun shining through the dusty window
Left open to feel the happy breeze
    Bringing in the tender memories
Singing to my heart so sweet and low

    3. Fascinating grace
    Unheard melody divine
    Knits our hearts as one

    4. Blue skies
    Permeating
    White clouds
    Floating past
    Silly children
    Laughing
    Joyful noise

    5. Faith is something that is embedded in my soul.
It has been woven into the threads of my being.
Believing didn't appear to come naturally to me
Until the moment I did, and now I won't ever let it go.
Faith in God, family, and a future
    Faith in love and happiness
    Faith in you and me

    6.
    Forever
    Feverish
    Fulfilling
    Friendship
    Forgiveness
    Fascination
    Flutters
    Fair
    Fly
    Feeding
    Force
    of Nature

    7. Work sounds too much like work.
    Let's call it an adventure.
Or maybe we could say it's a journey
    With us as journeymen
Making our way along the joyful path
Learning how to climb the hills of happy times
Digging out of the valleys of shadows and grief
Using what we learn to build each other up
And create a wonderland from reality
    Where we see everything
And love the journey all the more.

    1. A drip of color a splash of water
    The colors of a fire
    A dragon suddenly appears
    He appears like magic

A drip of color a splash of water
    Oh imagine imagine
How far a little paint, water and brush can go.

    2. Dashes, Commas, Semicolons,
    Colons and quotation marks
    So many things to remember
So many things I try to hammer into my brain
Oh! Grammar! Please help me to understand

    3. Nerd? What is the definition of a Nerd?
    I don’t consider myself a nerd
    I am not crazy smart
    I suck at math
    Oh no not I!
    But am I nerd?
I would rather read than hang with friends
I see my books more important than air…….
Oh! Dear….. I most defiantly am under the definition
    The definition of a nerd!

    4. What is cold and wet?
    It never ends!
    Others want it!
But here it is continually falling
    Summer, winter, Fall
Oh! I swear it will drop forever
Forever it falls in Maple Valley, Washington.

    5. All the colors of the rainbow
    Each one is unique
    People try to touch one
But then it just might squeak
    Hearts that are always racing
And wings that are always chasing
I would love to be, just once you see
A bird that is always singing

    6. Eeek! Oh! No! Oh! Please!
Tell me that was not so
    Oh! No it cannot be!

But there it is written plane and clear!
    Oh how could I forget
    How stupid I must be
    Why it must be true
    Long ago
    Well not so long ago
    In 2013 it was written
    Written in a book
Thank everything that this book is secret
For the embarrassing fantasies of me and a boy in 2013
    Will now forever be secret.

    7. Your face turns Hot!
    You feel it rising
    Oh! Please make it stop
Snickers and giggles fly across the room
Before you can force your friend to shushing
    She’s screaming
    OH! Look she’s blushing!

    1If you are lonely

    If you are lonely
    come to my town
    If you are friendless
    just come on down.

    All of the lonely
    come to my town
they make friends with the friendless
    All leave without frowns.

    If you are lonely
    (It’s not widely known)
    You’ll not be lonely
if you come to my town.

    2Blue, Green

    One thumb’s green
    One thumb’s blue
    What on earth
    can I do?

    They are dyed.
    Can’t be cleaned.
    One thumb’s blue
    One thumb’s green

    3 Curious?
    Do you want to hear
    How my day has been?
    Where I am going,
    I am coming home when?

    Do you want to know
What I did in school today
    Or see what great…
    No?
    Okay.

    4 Dancing

    I’m dancing through
    The hours of the day
    Not knowing quite
    What to do or say

    I’m dancing through
    The days in the week
    Waiting for the
    Chance to rise and speak

    I’m dancing through
    The weeks in the month
    Seeing all the
    Hardest things crunch

    I’m dancing through
    The months in the year
    Listening to
    The things I can hear

    I’m dancing through
    The years of my life
    Never heeding
    Others tales of strife

    I’m dancing through
    All eternity
    Always knowing
    That He cares for me

    5 Questions
    All good questions
    start with
    W.
    Who?
    What?
    Where?
    and so on.
    But the best questions
    start with
    How.

    6 I had the chance...

    I have the chance
    to be a poet?
    Time for me to
    start to blow it!

    7If I thought was beautiful…

If I thought I was beautiful...
I’d look in the mirror less
    I’d be more confident
    I’d be less self-conscious
    I’d talk to people more
    I’d give more service
    I’d do better in school
    I’d do more crafts
    I’d go outside more
    Instead of wasting my time
    wishing to,
    wanting to,
    hoping to,
    dreaming to,
    praying to,
    think I was beautiful.

    That matters... not at all!

    5. Water is slowly rolling through the valley,
Going through crevices shaped like my veins,
The sound of rushing water fills my mind with peace,
    Who created all of this?
Why, our Father who is in Heaven!
    He made you and me,
    And can't you see,
    Without him,
There would be nothing of you and me.

    6. "Time for spring cleaning!" She says with a smile... ugh.
"So that we can get a trampoline later." She adds.
    Why didn't she say so?
Context is everything... Now, where have I heard that before.
    Or... maybe in a dream,
    Yes!
A dream with the cast of Studio C,
And then they invited me to...
    "Come outside and start helping!"
    My dreams are dashed,
    Now I'm outside cleaning.

    7. The sun is bright,
    The dark is Night,
    There is no gray.

    So If you say:
"It's the middle of the day..."
    What's that?

There is a difference you see,
Just like there is with you and me,
    Those are two different topics.

    I’ve discovered something interesting
A poem is a simple thing
Except I nearly cannot bear it
When they say I have to share it

See, I’ve written two or three, a few
More poems than I’ve shared with you.

    Little Billy played guitar
    For the Imperial Russian Czar
    The Czar said, “Billy, I like your art;
Please ride to France in this fruit cart.”

So Billy set off across the land
To find someone to start his band
    He sat upon a watermelon
Until he met a cunning felon

The villain said, “You must be Billy,
I’ll kidnap you upon my filly!”
    But Billy sang so musically,
“I’m faster, so you won’t catch me!”

The chase was on; but Billy swift
Ran right off of Dead Man’s Clift
So Billy, filly, and felon fall,
‘till a passing eagle caught them all

Billy said, “Wow, that was close.”
But the bird could only carry dos.
So it dropped Billy, kind of mean,
But he landed on a trampoline.

He bounced right up the Eiffel Tower
And then found out his super power
So into the sunset he flew away
To find someplace to save the day

And he brought along his guitar to play.

If I want something done just right
I’ll do it myself, all right?
The world’s not going to change tonight
But I can make tomorrow bright.
A single person can turn on the light.

Be mindful of the drugs and the alcohol, don’t trip and fall.

Like the sky before dawn with its dim glowing doubt
Like the way the air shifts while the storm’s hours off
Like a spluttering flame in the dead of the dark
It’s like pressing on ice, how you tense and you cringe
But you ever continue, how else would you live
For though it’s a terror to, uncertain, fly
Always in the future is where our souls lie

#4 The bullet tore right through your chest
Staining your craft a different red
Conscious but losing, you brought the flight down
And knew you would perish, right there on the ground
By the time that they found you, you’d already be dead
Lying limp, with your craft stained a different red
The legend brought down, now facing his last
But only short months would the battle yet last
So close to the end, but never to reach
By the good grace of God, you were given relief

    #5 The grip of desperation
When all but hope is lost
    A painful, hard refusal
To let go when nothing can be done

#6 Thus brought forth by something else
To breaking point you use yourself
To safe havens you cannot flee
Or else you would not know what to be
Entrust your soul to no one else
For they don’t know you like yourself
Keep all you are under lock and key
And don’t let it be tainted by anybody

How did it feel to now face the end

    Poem week 2 April/6/15
(This first poem I made, for a friend who's suffering through a hard time dealing with the death of her daughter, in hopes that I might put a comforting spin on the situation.)

    1.) A early rebirth.
Close your eyes, sleep little child.
it's close to time to rest little child.
Open your mind and release your spirit.
little darling, it's not your time but the time has come.
We'll say good bye, yes I know it's not fun, but the time has come, only 7 and yet, your life is done.
Open your eyes, awake little darling.
It's about time that you awake little darling.
listen to my voice and forget all the sorrow.
little child, it wasn't your time, only 7 but yet, here you stand to Take my hand.
Let us say hello and forget the regrets we've had, it's time to start your new life in my heavenly land.
    * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
    Authors notes:
(Warning: This next poem is very dark, PG, but dark. so if you are suffering through depression I suggest you skip this one.)
    * * *
    2.) The devils secret.
The wild wind howls and the wicked moon grins as the darkness shrouds the town like blackened roses and deathly sin.
The fairies and elves and all the creatures of hell may seem like sweet little things made up of childish dreams, but in the light you'll see their true sight and it's nothing short of hellish delights playing in unholy light, tis a truly evil sight that will begin.
Like the beautiful tones of a flute or harp at play you'll find yourself uncontrollably ensnared in the words the hell spawn say like a snake to the hypnotizing pungi you'll lose your self to the enchanting notes and the swaying beauty.
Wow to those who see the beauty and fall victim to the act, throwing them selves in to the pile of thorny roses that rest on the stage of lies and harsh facts.
To all the duly concerned, a warning you have earned, nothing can hurt you except the ignorance of your mind and to the fool with no concern, your time will come, the time to burn.

    3. Love is peace.
I love the way you look at me.
I love the way you fantasy.
I love what I love, what I love is your loving me.
I like it when you sing to me.
I like it when you love me.
I like it when you hold me close to thee.
Oh, I love what I love, what I love is the way you've been loving me.
I like what I like and that's what like about you.
I love the way you love to love,
    I love thee.

    4. The moments.
    Tick: you blink.
    Tok: you breath.
    Tick: you hear.
    Tok: you see.
    Tick: you move.
    Tok: you need to chose.
    Tick: you talk.
    Tok: you change.
    Tick: you live.
    Tok: You're dead.
    Tick...Tick...Tick,
Tok: time stops like a broken clock.

    3. Misconceptions
I picked the peddles of a flower to decide my love and ended up loving a stinky bug.
I flipped a coin to chose my fate, but fate couldn't decide before it was to late.
I gambled to become a king, but I found I was gambling to become hungry.
I took the road less traveled by without the preparations I would need to survive.
Two wrongs never make things right but still I try to fight the good fight.

    To be continued...

    4. We are.
I want to help you, but where should I start, with the steps of my feet or with the beating of my hart?
I don't want you to suffer, I know you're crying but I can't stop the pain, I wish you were happy that's the most I can say.
I don't need you to change, I'll love you even after the end, promise to stay and always be my friend.
I need you to stay strong, stand tall and shine like a beacon of light for all mankind, so that one day they can all know the love you show me and maybe the world could rise from the knee and be what they could to be.
I hope you find and follow your calling, remember us, I wish you the best of blessings.
I pray you'll never be hopeless and in a time of confusion you'll call for us.
I'm calling for you to stand up and protect the unprotected.
I hear you calling for me, here I stand to protect thee.
We are more then friend's, more then family, we are brothers.
    Come stand with me!

    5. patient when impatient.
She was searching for the answers of everything and nothing, why dose she insist on striking lightning.
She was examining the clouds and staring at the ground, God only knows what she's thinking now.
She sits alone, but she's doesn't feel lonely, she says, "I'm feeling at home." It seems so saddening.
For her house and family burned to the ground, no one to love but still she refuses to make a sad sound.
The boys ignore her when she walks in the halls, not the most beautiful one of all.
The girls only pity her and remind her of her loss, never knowing the love she feels and understanding she accepts what is not.
She doesn't try to hide through the illusion make up provides.
But still she smiles when she's alone, now only the animals remember her voice and it's tone.
She is the girl to whom people try to reflect their lives, but she is secretly at peace inside.
She never stood out, but she grew like a rose, she never got married, though I wish I would have had enough courage to let her know.
She was the most misunderstood throughout the land, but she was more then that,
She was the twinkle in God's eye and the woman, I wanted to take her hand.
Now she's gone and grate sorrow fills me, but I will wait until the end of our story the way she waited even after all the sorrow for me.

    6. The Saviour.
    To the Faithful:
Your faith is strong and your knees are week, but your body is braking, allow me to carry you home safely.
    To the Soldier:
Your love was medicine and your thoughts became inspiration, but know your life is taken; let me grant you restoration
    To the curious:
Your thirst for true truth left you unsatisfied and you always questioned why, come with me and I will show you the light I promise you'll be at peace inside.
    To the emotional:
Your a hurricane of good and your harts don't lie to you, but this might be overwhelming so let me walk beside you.
    To the broken:
Your words where never lost in the sea and your trust was the strongest, please let me help put the pieces back together, let me heal thee.
    To the explorer:
Your eyes could see through anything and you spend your life wondrously, but now I will show you a land you can explore endlessly.
    To the Godless.:
Your hart was honest and your life was peaceful, would you like to come with me though? I understand your fear, don't worry, that doesn't mean it's all down hill from here.
    To the innocent:
Your life may have not been fair or just, but you stood tall and held your chin high and for that I am immensely satisfied, come and let us start a new life.
    To the guilty:
Your deeds weren't kind and your hart less so, you've suffered a life time on your own, but the only thing that matters now is if you can learn to forgive yourself somehow. What do you think? Because I will never stop trying to save thee.

    7. I love you.
There was once a girl who was so full of love that one day it broke her heart because, she couldn't make others feel the same and that was heartbreaking in every way.
No matter how hard she tried she couldn't accurately describe how she felt inside.
She couldn't paint the picture, she couldn't dance the dance, she couldn't play the song and she couldn't write the words, but she could feel the love and that's what hurt.
She cried because she could feel others pain and her love grew more each and everyday.
Like a bomb too full, about to explode, with every tear the love grows, and she dose everything she can to let the whole world know, she want's them to feel the love she holds.
It's overwhelming and she's exploding, can anyone release the pressure, she's over flowing.
She cries out in pain, "The love is overwhelming me."
The man with the knife, she jumps in front, she saves the boys life, but at what price.
On the ground she weeps, light fades, foot steps creep as others leave.
A Young face can be seen, He's crying. He asks, "Why are you dying?!"
She smiles "Because I love you, darling."
    We start a new story.
There was once a boy who was so full of love that one day it broke his heart.

They once were bright and cheery,

    Alone and nearly withered,

that I eat when I stay up late.
I would buy crates and crates and crates
    of chocolate,
    and stay up late,
but alas! I am a poor cheapskate,
no money in my sad pockets,
    no chocolate here to compensate
for the lack of a soulmate,
    no chocolate here to stimulate
    or imitate,
    my soulmate,
    no lovely date
    with chocolate.
Hence, this sad will all accumulate
    until I will need a flood-gate,
    to hold back and de-celerate
    this sad of late.
    I'm trying to communicate
    the hate
    I feel for chocolate,
because I can't buy at prime rate
    my sorely needed,
    chocolate.

    And there you go. :)

My eyes go round with it.
It blows cool air into my face,
    And now I’ll have a cheez-it.

    A light is there.
    ‘Go away’ I say.
    I want some sleep.

    The dog starts to bark.
    Woof. Woof. Woof.
    My rest is over.
    It’s time to wake up.

    5.
There is someone who loves me most.
He loves you too, this I know.
He wants what’s best for you,
This is true. Now we must go
To our Heavenly Father up above.

    Flowers will grow.
    The grasses are greener
    And trees also so

    Oh! What a season.
    Springtime is here.
    Brings color and goodness,
    Brings lots of good cheer.

    7.
I am a child of God
    And so are you.
    That kid over there,
    He’s Gods child too.
    My friends, my family,

    We’re all children of God

    A warm sunny day,
The family gather under a tree
    Playing traditional games
Feeling the warm breeze in the winds
O how relaxing nature can be..

    2.
The world is full of surprise
    Playing with a friend today,
Tomorrow they say he is no more
O what a world we live in
    Full of amaze.

    3.
    We are lucky,
To be where we are today
Don't be stubborn, but just obey.
    Some people can't afford,
    To treat a common sore
    Some can't afford,
To even but bread and water.

Some people have to strive the entire day
Just to gain a cent to be able
    To feed the family.

    Life is tough
    For some people, having billions
    Isn't even enough!

    4.
    Time is money
    Every second spent wisely
    Can bring you harmony
    If time is money,
It is moral to save time
    Spend carefully because
    Money is time!

    5.
    The future is bright
It's as bright as the sun
It looks big in my sight.

    6.
    Thick, heavy, and filling
With a delicious, spicy taste and
    A strong aroma
    African food is great!

    7.
I never liked to do this
But poems are great to write
It makes you think and be creative
    I now enjoy writing
    It's an awesome hobby!

I might not be good at it

  35. 1) Love Poems are Overrated

    Love poems are overrated,
Stop bragging about the ones you have and haven’t dated,
No one wants to see how much you love each other,
Because some people never get the chance of being a mother.
So stop rubbing it in their faces you arrogant fools,
That’s all I have to say.

    2) Ignorance

It is impossible for a man to be saved in ignorance.
Blossoming with wisdom that can’t and never will be his,
It is impossible for a man to be saved in ignorance.
Life is steaming with options to learn and grow,
But he can’t take his eyes of his phone.
It is impossible for a man to be saved in ignorance,
Some say that is the best kind of bliss,
The kind that you wallow in
Because you didn’t pay attention when life gave you lessons,
Now you’re all alone wishing your ignorance, you hadn’t been blessed with.
    Messed with.
It is impossible for a man to be saved in
    Ignorance.

    3) Scars
    Scars are who we are,
We wouldn’t be where we are without them.
    Scars, they drive us crazy,
Reminding us of times that have faded into a mess and scattered us into pieces.
    Scars are what we were,
Back then when we didn’t have a care in the world.
    Scars are who we are,
    Learn from them.
Scars are what we know not to do.
Scars make me who I am, and they make you,
    You.

    4) Hatred
I hate the way I walk,
I hate the way I talk,
I hate the way I look.
    I can’t understand reason anymore,
Because I took that and threw it out the door.
I hate the I make eye contact in the mirror,
I hate how when I’m with you I can’t see any clearer.
    I’m done.

    5) Excuse me.
Excuse me for voicing my opinion, and feelin like you always disrespect it. Excuse me for sayin I’m sorry, It’s wrong to be so nice aiight. Now I’m through with you and your friends, I don’t need that trickery no diggity, oh fliggity, oh freakin me. Why am I still talking, I’m not in a good mood, I’m just crying, not acting like a dude’s dude. These rhymes don’t really make sense they make billions. It’s kinda cliche, so excuse me for usin’ em. Amen.

    6) Bowen.
He’s my main man, the bees to my knees, the sunshine and my trees. He’s the belly to my fat, I’m the dog to his cat. He’s me lover when I stay up late, and he’s my money when I need chocolate. He’s the coolest kid in the street, and he’s definitely hotter than me. His vibrant smile catches the eye of millions, and his voice gets him billions. He’s bowen and you ought to know him. He’s my best friend and I show him. Bowen is my boo, my dude, he always stays true, and I like him a lot. Amen.

    7) Awake.
    Awake and I can’t feel a thing,
Eyes open, am I still in a dream?
    I can’t see, Eye can’t be.
I wish I was still asleep.
But I’m not, I guess I have to accept that,
Except that I’m falling now, slowly but surely,
Watching as my world burns around me.
It’s all gone now, everything I loved.
And I’m alone, no help from.
    Above.
    Awake and I can’t feel a thing,
    I wish, I was still in a,
    Dream.

    the glorious times
    and the dreadful times.
    think
    you'll get through
    just wait

    you.

I am a loved child of God
I can see the hand of God in my life,
because God has a plan for me,
the worth of my soul is great in the sight of
    God.

    can't hear
    only feel
    feel dark
    alone
    a light
    not huge
    but noticeable
    reaches out
extending my hand I feel his warmth
    his love
    his compassion
    for me
I am pulled out of the ocean deep
on dry land is now where I sit
    safe
    intact
    and breathing once
    again.

    12)
    Boom!
    just like that
    my dreams crack
    they fade away
    away into forest
    never to be found again.
    I look and look
    but only in vain
there is no use in playing this foolish
    game.
    I keep searching
    finding something new
    my hopes reborn
    I have a new goal
    a new deal
    a new chance

I am a child of god

    4.
    Fighting in the home happens
A lot when we don’t know this:
    I
    Love
    You

    5.
    Everyone lacks confidence
    Does that make sense?
    We need to take ten
And write down with a pen
Notes so we can proceed with life
And enjoy it with less strife

    6.
    The Piano:
When I sit down to play
    My mind drifts far away
    My fingers touch the keys
    As softly as falling leaves
    Calmness surrounds my mind
    Troubles I cannot find
    Music speaks to my soul
    It makes my spirit whole

    7.
    I am a dog
    You are a flower
Let me lift up my leg up
    And give you a shower

  39. 1. Bacon
The melodious sizzle and tantalizing smell
emanate from a single glorious point in the kitchen
and act as a beacon for all that are in the house.
    Such are the effects
    of bacon.

    2. Musicians
True talent resides not with the ability to make noise with an instrument
But to coax out the song that abides within
As it lies in wait to be discovered by the one worthy enough to hold the title
    Musician

    3. Procrastination
    Procrastination.
A plague of indolence that pollutes
    And controls
    The people of our world.

    “I’ll do it later”
    Shout the people
That are so far behind that it seems impossible
    To reach their goals

This time it will be different
    We promise ourselves.
    But we are unchanging
And again and again we relapse.

Our old ways have a grip on us
    But maybe we can resist.
The urges to “Put it off” are strong
    But we are stronger.

    We can fight
    And the revolution can begin

    Just not right now.

    4. My Dream
    I had a dream
    Where existential humans walked
On bees, and birds that flew and flocked
And lightning fell down and I was shocked.

    But then I woke up
    And thought,
“Well that was a stupid dream.”

to the clutching grasp of the greedy miser.

    6. The Inch that Changed History
    An inch from death
    But unaware
He was to die this day
    While enjoying a play.
For death was but an inch away.
In the pull of a trigger

    By a man named Booth.

The roar of the gun followed by
    The glistening of blood
And the wail of a friend

    One inch.
    To pull the trigger.
    To kill the man.
    To rob a nation
    Of a hero.

    Shot in the head
    Abraham Lincoln
    Was dead

    7. The egg

  43. 1:
    My eyes open,
    Never wanting to close again.
    My mind throbs,
    Hot with a scalding memory.
    My imagination fumbles,
    Paralyzed with thoughts unwanted.
    My heart races,
    Fleeing from metaphorical beasts.
    My soul trembles,
    Shaken with fictitious reality.
    Everything stops.
    My spirit stands,
Firm with a confidence above my own.
    My mouth opens
In a fervent plea for peace.

    2:
    Do not forget to remember
    Who you really are.
    Do not neglect to regard
    Your true, divine worth.
    Do not abstain to choose
    Your virtue over all.
    Do not doubt to hope
    You will accomplish great things.
    NEVER forget
You are a child of God.

The sun beams bashfully through the clouds,
    Shyly separating winter from spring,
Timidly thawing the snow from the ground,
Cowardly coaxing out the meager green.

    5:
    Butterflies;
    Multiplying faster than my thoughts.
    Smile;
Plastered on to hide my fear.
    Fingers;
    Trembling faster than vibrato.
    Regret;
    Wishing I had practiced more.
    Concert;
    Approaching sooner every second.

    6:
    Great success; great loss
    Emotions sweet and sour
    I must keep playing.

    7:
    A three syllable word
    Used to be my enemy.
    A six letter word
    Used to make me gag.
A word with the suffix “ry”
Used to make me want to cry.

    Makes me smile.

    My patience is wearing thin.
    My loss of tolerance shows
    My lack of character.
    My unforgiving nature will be
    My downfall.
    My patience is unraveling.
    My forgiveness is becoming conditional.
    My conscience tells me
    My perspective should change.
Now I know that it is not about
    Me.

    We are not alone.
He's there when we keep trying.
    He is forgiving and kind,
and counts each tear we're crying.

    We are not alone,
And when the road gets rough
He'll fold us in His arms,
and remind us that we're tough.

    We are not alone.
His hand is in all things.
    He coaches and He guides

  55. 1. A Single Night Outside
Staring at the night, a single star in the sky,
I am breathing in the rain, a single drop in the dark.

Tremoring on the edge, a single thread in the cloth,
I am nothing but myself, a single heart in the whole.

Searching through my soul, a single flame in the fire,
I am emptying my heart, tear by tear coming through.

Crying without sound, a single girl in the storm,
I am breaking at the core, unable to hold up anymore.

Slipping is my mask, my single shield in the world,
I am letting go of my pain, a single tread on the trail.

Returning with speed, a simple peace in myself,
I am seeing the way forward, a blessed light in my life.

    2.
When sleeping over a soliloquy in second grade,
I was punishingly pummeled by a poem.

Since: I’ve sustained scars from summaries,
was hammered by the humanites of Homer.

Oh, I earned my callouses in calligraphy.
been run right ragged on research.

Yes, I’ve cut my teeth on classics,
    and attended to articles atrocities,

    Why, I’ve well-nigh died o’er a dissertation
    nearly perished from pamphlets perjury

Since that snooze over Shakespeare in second grade,
and my pounding from the poet’s pen.

    3. Melody of a Clockwork Life
    Clank - tick - tick - clink.
    Mechan-ical act-ing.
    Click - whir - whir - clank.
    Auto-matic move-ment.

    Clank - tick - tick - clink.
    Blank stare; un-seeing.
    Click - whir - whir - clank.
    Tight’ning motion; life-long.

    Clank - tick - tick - clink.
    Clockwork body; un-feeling.
Click - whir - whir -clank.
    Slowly jerking along.

    Hid’ng - be-hind - gears;
    Clicking lifelong, ticking!
    Bound - afraid - trapped - clank!
    No change; no improvement.

    Clank - tick - tick - click …

    4.
    Music surges ‘round,
    Pervading my ears and mind,
    Trembling notes and chords.

    5. I am a single sparrow, Lord, dost thou knoweth me?
am a simple sparrow, Lord, canst thou care for me?
I am a sinful sparrow, Lord, wilt thou lift me up?

Ye are of more value, child, than a thousand sparrow's falls.
Ye are of my valued, child, I love thee as mine won.
Ye are of much value, child, for Atonement in Gethsemane.

    6. Colors of My Room

    A glimpse sees pink:
    blankets, flower,
    pictures, watch.

    A glance notes white:
    shelves, ceiling,
    papers, bed.

    A gaze finds blue:
    jeans, jewelry
    books, dress.

    7.
The assignment was due in a couple of hours. Aware,
the writer was a hunched shape on a comfortable chair.
The page was as white as moonlight (though that wouldn’t endure)
    And the pen writing—
    writing—writing—
The pen was writing, through March and more.

The pen was a fancy ballpoint, its ink black and thick.
A grip of resilient rubber. And it engaged with a click.
It worked with never a trouble. Its words were “up to par”.
And it wrote in a manner flowing,
    Its crisp words flowing,
Its poems and slices flowing, read near and far.

“Another word, my loyal pen, I’m after an A grade to-night,
But after this I shall let you rest until the morning light.
    Yet, if writer’s swamp sucks me deep, holds me all the day;
Then wait for me by moonlight.
    Write for me by moonlight
I’ll not fail thee by moonlight, should anything bar the way.”

The “Bad First Date” Irish drinking song!

    Oh!!! I de I de I de I de I de I de I de di!
I met this girl Just last week!
    Man she was so fine!
I asked her on a first date!
    I wanted her as mine!

She told me I was cool!
    And she liked me fine!
    Then I said something dumb!
    I said get in line!
    Oh!!! I de I de I de I de I de I de I de di!
    After our date finished,
    I drove her home!
    There we both stood!
    Two lovers all alone!

I asked if I could kiss her!
    And she said yes!
    But after that!
    It became a mess!

    Oh!!! I de I de I de I de I de I de I de di!
    I don’t know what happened!
    And neither does she!
All I know is we both blacked out!
    Her on top of me!

    Still years later,
    We still haven’t kissed!
    And I’m just wondering
    What I might have missed!

    Oh!!! I de I de I de I de I de I de I de di!

    life is strange,
    life is crazy,
    life is fun,
    life is sad,
    life is unexpected,
    but in the end,
    it's still our life.

    2: Fellings can take over,
    when you're nervous it's like a power,
    getting louder and louder,
    but not everything is sour,
sometimes it can be fragile like a flower,
I guess it's hard to tell..

    3: Wind blows softly,
    light shade of gray,
    sun peaks over the loft,
I wish I had more to say.

    4: Todays been long,
    tired in every class,
I wish I had been wrong,
as I sit and stare out the glass,
the weither is like my mood,
why did you have to be so rude,
I was only trying to help you,
but you only pushed me away,
    now only you knew
    I would feel this way.

5: We all have so much to gain,
even if all we see is rain,
    what won't last is pain,
wouldn't it be great to move to spain.

6: What if we were always happy,
    always sappy
    always crapy,
    always crafty,
    always classy,
life would be a lot more crazy.

    1. (Value, Value!)

    Sometimes, it's really good,
    Sometimes it's really bad.
But when you buy Little Cesar's Pizza,
It's the best value that can be had.

    2. I hate titles.

    I hate hypocrisy.
    And irony.
    And lists.
    And repetition.
    And repetition.
Also, I hate it when writers aren't consistent.
    And misspeling.
    And uncorrect grammer.
And when people say things are gramatical errors, when they are really errors of another sort.
But most of all, I hate it when people write little poems that are sort of sarcastically funny, but didn't really take a whole lot of though to make up.
And I hate it when poems seem like they are about to end, but then they don't.
And I hate it when poems reaper in other poems.

    3. It really doesn't help anyone.

We have problems. It's no mystery.
We all have problems. So has everyone through history.
So do fictional characters, from Mordor to Ogygia.
So why do we post our problems up, to some wall on social media?

    4. The book.

    There's a book I just read.
    The cover was red.
    It was showing some wear.
    It was about ware.
    It's weird, you see?
    It's from the sea.
I told someone they were mean.
They said what do you mean.
    I'm a guy you can't faze.
    This is just a phase.
And I hate it when people say the same word two times in a row, but with different meanings.

    5. The guard dawg.

    He's a Cane Corso,
Is he awesome? Yeah, more so:
    (Than a Shih Tzu)
To him, you know, a cat is a morsel.
You say you think that he's vicious,
    'cause he thinks you're delicious.
But he's quite a bit better
Than a bowl full of fishes.
You can't deny that he's cool,
    Despite all of his drool.
    No one questions the fact,
The man'ts got him makes the rules.

    6. The wondrous gift of pain.

When I was young, I ran along my garden filled with grass,
Sometimes when I ran along, I stepped on thorns, like glass.
A thorn I saw, was in my foot, then I cried out in pain,
I thought, "What's the point of feeling?" "Like, what do I really gain?"

I thought, "What's the point of having feet when all they do is hurt?"
And "What's the point of legs, if I just fall into the dirt?"
"These limbs and body parts aren't really easy to maintain."
I dreamed I didn’t have to bear this curse that I called pain.

I didn't know a fact; to me unfair it would have seemed.
Miles away from me there lived a boy who lived my dream.
Congenital Analgesia had given him this gift,
Though to him this illness wasn't quite what he wished.

To him this rare condition wasn't really all that fun,
Without pain, what would stop him from chewing off his tongue?
He'd gash himself, be reckless, shatter bones until at last,
He'd find himself disabled; He'd spend his whole life in a cast.

Steven Pete would often ask "Why must I have this curse?"
And often "Wow, my life is bad. It couldn't get much worse."
I bet through all his trials, he thought time and time again,
"Oh how dearly I do want to feel what they call pain."

Steve and I grew up, we lived our lives, through sun and cloud.
But studying his story makes me want to cry aloud.
"God, forgive my ignorance, for knowledge finally came!"
"God, I thank thee for this gift, the wondrous gift of pain.

    7. Rhyme Royal

It's late I want to go to bed right now.
Tomorrow I have to get up early.
Frankly, with this fatigue, I don't know how
I'll wake up, and still function properly.
I barely keep my eyes open, you see.
Yes, I think I should turn off all the lights,
and so, you guys, I bid you all good night.

    The writer~

My words I can not expel for my heart, held by stories that play in my memories gaze.

Worlds and people dance around in my head while all the while you may never see them.

I hold them close and keep their words within me as I go about the day.

When night finally falls and my days work is done I set free the stories within me.

Words become my eyes and my eyes become my words as people become heros and villains take their turn.

Time flies by when my fingers nimbly speed away with the words within me sticking to a page, for you see I am a writer and this is what is within me.

No person can withhold the mythologies that flow through me.

      Pirate’s~

Sing me the song of the sirens sweet lull into the waves that beckon and call.

Where have we gone and lost on the waves, been cast into the rocks and splayed.

We are sea walkers who’s land is the oceans untamed foamy reaches, held by none but Poseidon you see.

We are those who seek treasures so dear that we place an x to mark the spot we seek so clear.

A pirate as fierce as we are still caught in the mermaids breeze, here we stay until the end of time for as they say of dead men they tell no tale and say no rimes.

      3
      Choices~

Choices abound though I feel weighed down.

I want to do what is right and keep up a good fight, but what do I do when the choice is so hard that I can not tell which way to turn or disregard?

Turning to the lord I humbly pray as my legs are found weak and my soul seeming bleak as my tears stream down across my cheeks .

Never a kinder friend can be found then the father above who humbly looks down, who comforts and helps me know which road to go.

The father is within my reach when I humbly fall before his feet and ask for help he will always strengthen me.

      4
      Who I want to be~

I wish to be grater than my fears, to become the better of my tears.

I wish to see beyond my doubt and reach for the stars I see from afar.

I wish to become the hopes and dreams I envision as who I might be.

I wish to take my fluttering heart and make it stronger then the beating drums that surround me.

I wish to run far past my limits, to take out my goals and see them as achievements.

I wish to take what I have written to become the person I hope to be, so that I can turn my words from hopes into living, breathing, meanings.

      5
      Travel

Show me the world with all it’s fragile beings.

From sea to sea and every land and space in between.

Tell me the tales of every culture and being so that I may come to know everything.

Take me to the wonders of the world, from mans greatest buildings to the peaks of this finite world.

Let me travel around this sphere we live, to become in awe of all that we here have in a world full of wonders knocking at our doors we must walk out to seek and explore.

      ~The Shepard

I have left my heart out on the line, forgotten beaten and forsaken for a time.

There it rests like a testament of my regret with wounds no mortal hand could heal save one alone who’s hands are bruised and still.

My head lower then the dust, I weep at the masters feet for a hush to the pain within my soul of things around me I do not control.

His kind and tender mercy lowers near and raises me up from the low place I have come too fear.

With gentle words his kind hands embrace and wipe away the tears of my fears and softly he speaks like a loving friend

“Dear little lamb I have never forsaken thee, I simply have been waiting for you to come unto me.”

      7
      The artisan~

Artfully create me oh Savior divine, show me the workmanship of they hands in mine.

Sketch me line by line showing me the way, one simple step at a time.

Craft me into a learned being, who’s ideas are keen and heart still beating.

Mold me into a tampered glass that put together can create stained glass.

Paint me with every color and hue, crafting me into a garden in full bloom.

Sculpt me with care, shaping my life by trials and errors.

For you are the one who has made me a work of art, beyond price or purchase; Through thy sacred blood painting my canvas clean when it fills with mud and not fine art.

Dear Master, you are my Teacher, Lord and King who’s hands bled and bleeding have saved the broken, blemished, tarnished, fallen work of art that is Me.

    1. Staring into a glowing lie,
    We sit lost and desensitized.
    Neglecting every blessing
    That we never realized.

    2. Where are we going?
    Into freedoms halls.
    Where are we going?
    To read acceptances scrawls.
    Where are we going?
    To the tolerance ball.
    Where are we going?
    Into a great fall.
    Where are we?
    Nowhere at all.

    3. Oh Lord my God,
When I’m lost in the thick grove of life
Or feel myself slipping on the mossy stones of sin
And feel the dark night of strife closing in.
I fall on my quivering knees,
To cry out to thee with humble heart in hand.
    Oh Lord my God,
Wilt thou give me the strength to stand!
Then as what seems the darkest times of sorrow
I find the strength within to follow.

    4. Will we stand and watch?
Because we cant find a notch.
    Will we turn our backs?
Because we don’t know the facts.
Or will we run to help with no thought in mind?
    And leave ourselves behind.
With The Lord by our side,
We can take a confident stride.

    5. As the time ticks away
    I can’t help but stare.
    Stare with anticipation,
    A tad bit of fear,
    A pinch of excitement
    And a handful of prayers.

    6. All the things that I have never done.
All the things that would’ve should’ve been fun.
    Regrets fill my mind
    As I try to rewind.
    Never mind.
    Desires and dreams going unfilled
    Take what you want
    And keep what you have.
If not you’ll have to rebuild.
