What to expect:
1. The first blog post will open on November 3. One blog post will open each week for the month of November.
2. You will write one super post* per week. You determine which day you will complete the assignment, so long as it is complete by Saturday night of the corresponding week before 9:00 p.m. MST to be considered on-time.
3. Seven gratitude bites** will be required as part of the super post for each of the first three weeks.
4. The last nine gratitude bites will be due in one super post no later than Tuesday, December 1 at 9:00 p.m. MST to be considered on-time. (DES who are working at a different pace, you will have until the DE deadline.)
*Super posts must include seven gratitude bites representing the seven days included in one week, except for the last week requiring nine because of the Thanksgiving holiday.
**Gratitude bites are a short paragraph of 3-5 sentences, and their theme should be what you're thankful for.
Community Expectations:
Replies are required to receive full credit. Minimum three replies on three separate super posts per week constitutes full participation.
Remember to be encouraging, sharing, and positive. Constructive criticisms are welcome, but be careful in your wording because it is easy to misinterpret written word. Any blatant negativity will be deleted and participation points will be taken away.
Throughout Gratitude Month:
Each student will sign up to report on one gratitude bite as part of the writing project. Expanding the original bite, you can choose to write an essay, do a class presentation, or create a YouTube video***. For DES, if you do not have the ability to do a shareable video, please write an essay.
Be prepared to present your bite on the date you sign up.
For DES who are doing this assignment on a later schedule, please do whichever option you'd like. If time permits, we will watch them as a class, but if not, I will certainly watch your video presentations.
***Please set all YouTube videos that you create for class to "Unlisted" and share the link with me via email. Doing so will ensure your privacy on the internet.
I look forward to sharing our gratitude bites as a class community.

1.I'm grateful for family. We need our families they are essential to the plan of happiness.
Without are family we are no one we need a family to shape who we are. The family is the center of
the home.
2.I'm grateful for a home. A home is the second most important thing in the universe. It is not just essential to survival I feel it is essential for LIFE. A home is a place with memories, it is the place out of the rain that is warm in the freezing cold.
3.I'm grateful for Liahona Academy. If not for this amazing school I would not meet you amazing people. Because I go here I am a better person.
I totally feel what you mean with number 3. Liahona has made me more spiritual and accepting. I also 100% agree with number 1. Family is one of the most important things to me because they really are essential. I love the part about how the family is the center of the home!!

ReplyDelete1. I am grateful for WINTER. This season seems to bring a lot of family’s together. Even if the family’s mad at each other. It just leaves a cold feeling on your body that just makes you feel warm in side.
ReplyDelete2. I am thankful for my school that I am able to learn all I can. So I can become more like God and try to become more perfect. I’m not perfect though ;) wish I was.
3. I am thankful for my life! With all these good friends that I may share it with. I love seeing good friends I haven’t seen in a long time.
4. I am thankful for my fall .That every august I can get pears, cherry’s, and peaches from my fruit trees. With all the leaves falling to jump into. I am thankful of the dead bugs that they are all dead in the fall.
5. I am thankful for my mountains that they protect me from tornadoes. So that I don’t get thrown up into the sky. Come down and go kersplat I don’t want to go kersplat I like that my body is whole not in pieces.
6. I am thankful for clouds in the summer when it’s hot that they protect me from the sun. That I might be colder than I would be if the sun was pumping down on my back. That there is no school and that I can play outside all I want.
7. I am thankful for my flexible body that I am able to do a lot of tumbling tricks that some only girls are supposed to be able to do. Like back walk overs front walkovers and Exedra. I love to do them they are really fun.
I can really relate to all of it
Deletethats so cool that yo can do a walkover! i wish i could do that!

1. I am most certainly grateful for a friend to have for when I go through a trial that I can have friend to talk to and know they can lift me up and show me the right way. Without a friend I don’t know where I would be. They are awesome!
2. I am also grateful for electricity with it I sometimes find myself taking it for granite. Then when the power goes out I forget how much power plays in my life. I am grateful to have so I can watch class from Liahona.
3. I am grateful for a family. When I need something they usually provide me with what I need. They also deal with all my moods. They do what’s best for me.
4. I am grateful for the Atonement for the times I go through sins. I know that I can repent and become better and forgiven and can make to heaven. I don’t know how much it plays in my life sometime because I forget about it.
5. I am grateful for the food I get to eat. If there was no food I would be unhealthy and become sick and have less energy.
6. I am grateful for water so I can survive. I have enough water to have energy to do the things I do regularly like dance, chores. Without water my body wouldn’t function properly.
7. I am grateful for cars. If there were no cars in this world it would be harder to travel great distances in a short amount of time. They help us be warm when we travel in cold weather.
i can relate to 6. and what kind of dance do you do?

ReplyDelete1. I am so, so very grateful for Autumn!!! I love this season so much! The colors, the sweaters, hot chocolate and the decorations. It all makes me so excited. I love to wake up and see the reds, yellows and orangey golds in the mountains!
2. I am extremely grateful for the knowledge I have for the Gospel, and the blessings that come with it. I feel so great knowing that I was born into a family that has the knowledge and understandings of Gospel principles. To me, the most important thing is the church and knowing that God has sent me here to help spread and share his Gospel.
3. I am so grateful for trials. Lately, I have had quite a few testing trials that have really helped me see how capable I am to be strong and to endure. I have felt better about myself knowing that God trusts me with a certain trail, knowing that I can push through the bumpy paths and curves on the road I'm on to success. I know that without trials I wouldn't be able to have success and I wouldn't be as grateful for things that do go my way in life, and the good times and memories I make.
4. I am grateful for my family. My family is so important to me. No matter what I do, they're always there for me. If I ever need someone to rely on, talk to, or even just a hug, I can turn to anyone of my siblings or my parents and they help me in what I need.
5. I am so, so very grateful for school! Without school, I have no idea where I'd be. Because I have the opportunity to go to school, I know that I can have a good and bright future. I feel like I take school for granted and it's not always my top priority, but when I sit back and think about it, I wouldn't be able to do so many of the things I do in my day to day life. This year, I have made a goal to be better with my grades and school work. I still far from perfect, and still struggle. But the more focus and effort I've put in, has really helped me appreciate school A LOT more than I ever have.
7. I am beyond grateful to live in America. Yes America is not even close to perfect but we have so many opportunities that are very overlooked. We don't have laws to tell us how many kids to have, we can go to school, we can vote, we can choose our professions and so many other amazing things. I am so grateful that I live in a place where I can wake up and go outside of my house. Where I can travel to any other state, and where I am free to practice my religion. Like I said no America is not perfect. But I am so lucky to live here and call it my home.
Haha...I forgot 6...
Delete6. I am sooo grateful for music! Music is one of the BIGGEST parts of my life. When I need an escape, or just something to make me feel better, I feel like music takes me to a new world. I love the impact of music and the emotions I feel when I listen to a certain song. Music has always been there for me in my worst and best days. And I'm so grateful for the love I have grown for music.
I totally LOVE 1 and 6!!! Music is my favorite thing, and I think that Autumn is SO AWESOME, and VERY beautiful! :-)
DeleteI really like your description of Fall and I 100% feel the same way!!

ReplyDelete1. I am grateful for water because it is essential for life. Without it we would all die in a few days. It is cold, refreshing, and it runs down your mouth with smoothness and it cools your body down to a perfect temperature. We would not be here if it wasn’t for our oceans to continue the water cycle, and it cools down the earth to a “normal” temperature. We are 70% water and Many things come out of water and I am so grateful that we all have water.
2. I am grateful for food and it is also essential for life. Food can be in many delightful flavors. We have Salty French fries, Sweet Potatoes, Crunchy peanuts, Sour lemonade, Bitter well I don’t eat bitter food. Anyways food helps us all grow healthy and strong, and who doesn’t like food? In conclusion we all should be grateful for all the food God has given us.
3. I am grateful for my home. We all need a home to have a great and happy life. It protects us from the elements and from sickness. A home is where your heart is. A house is just the physical side of a home. Your Dad or Mom or both work hard to get a house and soon it will become a home.
I see a homeless person almost every day, and I feel bad for them. Every Christmas break we give the homeless people a gift of Water and Food. In conclusion I am so grateful that I have a great house and home.
4. I am grateful for my family. Life doesn’t work without one, or you will be depressed, lonely, and miserable. That is why we all need families. I am going to meet foster kids and play with them.
It helps them to not be so lonely. If I didn’t have a family I don’t know what I would do. It would be horrible and miserable. I am so grateful to have a family because I would not be the person I am now without my parents.
5. I am grateful for the Ten Commandments because without them America would be a nutso country. The first commandment no other Gods before me. Even though some people do that The Christians, the Jews, and the Catholics. Don’t do that often at least. 2nd one is “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image or any likeness of anything that is in heaven….” So basically don’t worship a Holy cow. Some worship Idols in America but not a huge percentage. The next is “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain….” The world has a problem with this these days and we should stand up and say it is wrong! The 4th one is “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.” It means that you should work 6 days of the week and take Sunday off, be with your family, and do family home evening well we do it on Sunday and of course go to church and partake of the sacrament to renew your covenant to God.
I realized this will turn into a whole page if I do all 10 Commandments toda, and I will do 5. 5th one is “Honour thy father and thy mother….” Be good to your parents they give you: Water, Food, Home, and they are family. They gave you life and everything possibility you can do in life, and they hope for you to have a great future. In Conclusion I am super grateful for The Ten Commandments.

6. I am grateful for the Earth. It has amazing waterfalls that trickle down the mountain side. Beautiful sunsets across the evening sky. The Complex sky amazes me. The crashing waves on the Beach are constant and peaceful. The sound of the forest with all the wild life is a peaceful moment. Getting away from all the honking cars and stinky trucks. I hiked up the tallest mountain of Oahu and the mountain’s view was mind blowing. I am so grateful for being on the most beautiful planet of all the universe. The Earth!
7. I am grateful writing to all you people about what I am grateful for. It is very fun and it helps me realize how much I need to be grateful for many things in my life that make a life a happy one. It helps me to be better at writing because I am the not the best writer. I hope to improve in the future, and I hope I can get better every slice of life month. Also I am grateful for you people that comment on my posts, and hope to see you there!

ReplyDelete1. I am thankful for my Mom and Dad. They help me and support me in everything that I do! I love that they always give me good advice on what I should do in the future. For example what I should look for in a future husband or collages which would be best for me.
2. I am so thankful for all of my sisters (I have 3) They are my best friends, even though we might fight we always forgive... because we have to much to tell each other.
3. My house is another thing that I am great full for. It gives my family protection, warmth, and so much more! I love coming home from a long road trip or a family vacation. It just feels so good to be home! And I and so thankful that I am blessed with a home.
4. The church has always been a part of my life. I don't know where I would be or who I would be with out it!!! I am thankful for everything that has made the church what it is today. I want to invite some of my friends to learn about the gospel too so that they can have the wonderful blessing that comes to me and my family!
5. My brother is serving a mission in California and I am so proud of him for making that choice of going! Both my family and I are so thankful that he is out there... even though it is hard because we miss him. He is blessing so many lives right now and I am so happy for him!
6. I think cars are a big part of everyone's life! They are such a help and get us where we are going so much faster which is awesome. I could not imagin life without them. I think of the pioneers and how far they had to go. Makes me appreciate them a lot more.
7. I am thankful for the pancakes that I just ate! I was so hungry and they helped me with that hunger that I had. Also they are just so good! I think that I could eat them every meal of they day. But they great part about them is that they take 2 minutes to make... which is awesome!
I can really relate to number 5. My brother went on a mission in 2010 and it was really hard but I was so grateful he was out there blessing the lives of others. It's so great when they come home!! (though tbh it's a bit awkward)

Delete1. I am grateful for my nice, comfy, warm bed. It keeps me safe from the creepy shadows that I see on my walls. And it keeps me warm from the cold weather. I love my bed!
ReplyDelete2. I am grateful for my parents. They sacrifice SO much for me! My dad works so hard to provide for my family. My mom does so much like dishes, laundry, and many other things around the house that needs to be done. I'm so lucky to have two amazing parents!
3. There are so many things that I'm grateful for in my life. Another one is warm water. I am so thankful for every time I get in the shower and I have warm water to use. There's so many times when I forget how lucky I am to have warm, clean water.
4. I'm so grateful for doctors--it's a love/hate relationship though. I'm not a huge fan of doctors, but when there is something wrong with me, they know what to do to fix it. And, I'm very thankful for their knowledge and compassion that they use as they recently helped my wound to heal.
5. I'm grateful for my sisters. They're always there for me, and they will always listen to what I have to say. I love it when they make me dinner. When I don't feel good, they help wash my hair for me. I'm lucky to have two examples of Christ-like people in my life.
6. Man, do I love wearing comfy clothes. I'm so grateful for them--especially on days when I just feel like being comfy. Comfy and warm clothes are the best thing to wear during the cold of winter.
7. I'm grateful for General Conference. Specifically, the messages that the Prophet shares with us. I'm also grateful to have them be the mouth piece for God. I'm also thankful for their willingness to be in that calling. They are so giving and service-minded towards us all!
I love beds, literally the best thing ever invented.
DeleteI absolutely love what you said about beds. It made me giggle!! There are lots of creepy shadows out there and knowing we have beds to hide in makes me feel safe. Also comfy clothes are life, honestly. If I didn't have comfy clothes I think I'd die. What did they do in victorian times??!?
Delete1.I am very grateful for having cars. It would suck having to walk around everywhere. I live in an area were I wouldn’t be able to go to very many places if I had to walk. So cars are very important to me.
ReplyDelete2.I super grateful for computers and all they let us do. If I didn’t have a computer I wouldn’t be able to go the liahona online first of all, but also they always me to do so many amazing things. They can also help out with missionary work.
3.i am grateful for music. I almost always have music playing. It can be Sunday or Monday morning or night and I will have music playing most of the time. I don’t really care what kind it is as long as it’s awesome.
4 I am grateful for the church. It has given me so much guidance and so many cool friends. I don’t know what I would do without it. It is what a lot of my life is built on so it plays a big part in my life.
5. I am grateful for school and all the amazing things I get to learn. I don’t really have a favorite subject it just depends on the day and how I’m feeling. I get to stay on top of different aspects of the world and what s going on around me.
6. I am grateful for origami. I don’t do a ton of it, but I really like what you can do with it. It seams like a simple thing, but it makes really amazing things. It’s fun and interesting seeing it come together.

ReplyDelete1. I’m grateful for roller coasters. Yesterday I went to Six Flags and my appreciation for roller coasters grew. They give me a rush nothing else can and they make me very happy. I get this feeling in my stomach I can’t explain from riding roller coasters. I love them and I’m very grateful they exist.
2. I’m grateful for books. I’m grateful I can escape this life and immerse myself into a new – better – one. I’m so glad I can disappear into a world full of magic and mystery. I’m grateful I can leave my boring life – if only for a few moments – and jump into a new, adventure filled universe. I’m very grateful for books and all they offer.
3. I’m grateful for tea. I woke up with a very sore throat this morning and had some herbal tea and my throat no longer hurts. It also made me feel warm and calm. Yerba Mate – the tea I drink – always makes me feel at home. I’ve grown up with yerba and I think I’ve always taken it for granted. Today I realized how much I’m grateful for it.
4. I’m grateful for cheesy movies. I’m so glad bad movies exist. Movies that are just so awfully and poorly made, you can’t help but laugh. Ones that are so bad you wonder, “How did this movie even get made?” Everyone has bad days, and on mine, I watch a truly cheesy movie. It never fails to cheer me up.
5. I’m grateful for guitar. I’ve only been playing for just over a year, but it makes me really happy. Learning a new song always makes me feel accomplished. Slamming on my guitar lets me get out all my teen angst and I’m very grateful for it.
6. I’m grateful my mom is healthy. Tonight, I went to a friend’s football game and his mom couldn’t make it because she was in the hospital. He was happy to see we came and supported him, but I think he would’ve been happier if his mom was there. I don’t know what I’d do without my mom and I’m glad she’s healthy enough to be around all the time. I take that for granted, too.
7. I’m grateful for Panera’s mac and cheese. I can’t even express how much I love this food. I never used to like Panera, but my friend showed me the wonders of their mac and cheese and I’ve never been so happy. It makes me feel so warm and full. I can’t even put into words what this food means to me.

ReplyDelete1. I am grateful for my piano. I play the piano when I'm happy, angry, stressed, depressed, or sad. I can let out all of my emotion on the piano, and I always feel better when I'm done playing. The piano is a huge stress reliever for me. The power of music is amazing.
2. I'm so grateful for my dog Heidi. She is a huge comfort to me. She is always knows when I'm having a bad day, she will be extra cuddly with me and follow me around the house, as if she is trying to make me feel better.
3. I'm grateful for my friends. When I first moved in I was really nervous about making new friends because I was home-schooled. But the kids in my ward were so welcoming to me and made me feel apart of their squad right away. My friends are awesome!
4. I am grateful for socks. I love socks so much! They keep me warm, I can do exciting things with them on in the kitchen, and they are adorable! What's not to like??
5. I'm grateful that I am healthy. I may not enjoy running, but I'm grateful that I am healthy and that I don't have any health problems that would restrict me form running and being physically active. I think sometimes we take that for granted.
6. I'm grateful that I live so close to a temple. I can go to the temple any time I want to and it'll only take me a half hour to get there. I know I take that for granted, considering it takes days for some people to get to the temple.
7. I am so grateful for disney movies. My family all loves disney movies and we quote them all the time! We have had multiple conversations just using disney quotes. It's so great, because once someone starts to quote one we all finish it with them. Disney quotes are now so apart of my vocabulary that sometimes I don't even realize I'm quoting a movie! When my friends come over and my family goes off on a disney tangent, they just kind of look at us like we are all crazy.... It's so funny!!
I agree with number 4. I love socks!

1. I am grateful for my family, they have been such a blessing to my life. In my family we have eight people and so I was pretty use to have my four brothers around twenty four seven. But now that two of them are already married, one's almost off to college, and the other one is serving a mission. I have really been blessed to have a big, great, and wonderful family to have spent most of my life with.
2. I am very thankful for my house I live in God has really been there to shelters me and my family with a warm and comfortable house. I have my own bedroom so I do get to enjoy the space I have to myself, I may not live in a huge mansion but to me my home is my mansion. It's a place of peace where the spirit can really dwell with us, It's also a place of love and happiness where anyone is welcome to share it with us.
3. I am so grateful for the restored gospel on this earth, I am thankful that Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon. I've seen my family become so blessed by having this gospel in all of our lives God has really helped us touch the lives of many people. I can't imagine how my life would be without the Book of Mormon, I've come to realize how it benefits my life and those around me. I'm always looking for answers to my questions that I may have about my problems and challenges or anything at all. I know there is somewhere I can turn to and someone I can always pray to.
4. I am thankful for all of the many different seasons of the year, it wouldn't be fun if we only had one season where it was always cold or always hot. It's so wonderful to have a mixture of all different kinds of weather. Another favorite of mine is to dress up according to the weather outside, I also really enjoy looking out my window and seeing the colorful leaves on the trees in the fall, or when its winter I enjoy seeing the white snow and the beautiful ice crystals on the edge of our roof. I love summer its always warm and green outside.
5. I am grateful for delicious food, it's a moment in life when I can taste so many sweet, sour, spicy, hot and cold things. My favorite foods are Italian and Chinese, there are foods here and there that are good from other countries to. It's so amazing how many different kinds of foods there are out there that I haven't even tried before, my future goal is to one day travel the world and try all different kinds of food from all around.
6. I am super happy that we have music, music has really got me in tuned with it I love music so much. There's not a day where I can't listen to some sort of music without enjoying myself and others sometimes. I think in this world we can choose to listen to bad music that will destroy us, or we can choose to listen to good music that will up lift us. Listening to music puts me in all different moods, sometimes it makes me feel like dancing or make me feel like crying. But I think music has so much more to it than just sound, beat, and rhythm I think it really adds more meaning to my life.
7. My friends, are one of my favorite things about society they really uplift me, inspire me, and help me to become a better person. I may have conflicts with some once and a while but how do you learn from each other if you don't have conflicts in life, I feel so blessed for making so many good friends and having a great sister to add to it. I am so thankful for having such great amazing friends and I hope to continue making newer friends every day of my life. I guess most people don't really have sisters their age to always get to hang around with like I do, I am also very grateful for my sister she's fun to be around and kind and an amazing piano player.

ReplyDeleteJadis Ewell Gratitude week 2
ReplyDelete1. I am grateful for music! Music has a big part in my life! Most of the time when I listen to music it explains a lot about me. So when I am mad or sad I can listen to music to calm me down.
2. I am grateful for trees for the oxygen they give me to breath. If it weren’t for trees we would have some issues without them. They provide air, paper, and beauty! They are very helpful and sometimes we can take them for granite.
3. I am grateful for teachers for the effort they make to help us learn. They also take time to prepare and make sure we at least get something out of the lesson they taught. Teachers also help us grasp what they taught at the end of their lesson.
4. I am grateful for a jacket so when I get cold I can put it on and be warm. I use my jacket a lot! I am very blessed to have a jacket because I would probably freeze.
5. I am grateful for a dad that works and provides for my family. I am thankful for him to hold the priesthood to be honest life would be a lot harder without a dad. I am glad he works and whatever the circumstance he is willing to work to make sure we have a house, food on the table, and other necessities.
6. I am grateful for internet so I could talk to my friend that is in another city. For internet helps me to look up things that I don’t quite understand. Internet I am sure plays a great role in our lives.
7. I am grateful for a house to live in when bad weather occurs. Without a home I would be out in the cold weather freezing. I know that when I get cold I can go inside a nice house. If I didn’t have house my possessions would be ruined.
1. I am grateful for mobile devices. Mobile devices are such a great recourse. We are so blessed to have something, weather it be a lap to, Iphone, Tablet, and much more, that we can use for so many things. I can contact someone by the click of a button. We can even use it to share the gospel! Yes, there are many harmful things on the internet, but it is our responsibility to STAY AWAY!!
ReplyDelete2. Fashion is my passion. I am so grateful for everything involved in the fashion world. I just love the colors, textures, styles, and more. Someday, I would love to get a job in fashion. Weather it be an interior designer, clothing designer, or anything in that range. I just love the excitement that comes along with it.
3. Cars are wonderful. My 16 birthday is in 4 months, and when I can drive, I will get my sister's old car. I am grateful that I am able to live in a place where my dad has a nice job and could get the money to buy a car. It might not be the nicest, but it's a car non the less.
4. I am grateful for food. Everyone can relate to this. I have some health problems where I cannot eat wheat or sugar. I sometimes feel left out when other people can eat things a cannot, but I am so glad I have a mom who is willing and able to cook me good, healthy, delicious food.
5. Forgiveness. I have few words for this subject. I have had many difficult things happen in my life where I had to forgive others. To me, this was very hard. There was one time where I needed to forgive a person but I did not want to. They hurt me and I didn't want to let go of what had happened. My mother came to me one day and said, "...all you are doing is hurting yourself...". I am still trying to forgive this person but I am in fact happier because I chose not to have a grudge against them.
6. I am grateful for music. I truly believe I would not be who I am today if I listened to bad music. Music has such a great power and influence over people. Almost all of my talents involve music. I truly believe a song is one's testimony.
7. Weekend. Just the word makes me smile. The weekend is a time for me to unwind and relax, eat lots of food, and hang with friends, and sometimes catch up on school, if i'm behind... . A time to forget work, and just play all day. Weekend! You're my only hope!
