Poetry: Week 4

National Poetry Month Project

After the first week:
1. A blog post will open up each Monday instead of every single day.
2. Super posts must include seven poems representing the seven days included in one week.
3. By the end of the month, you should have posted a total of 30 poems (for an average of one per day).

Don't forget to make constructive comments!

At the end of National Poetry Month:

Each student will present their best/favorite poem to the class. You can create a YouTube video*, a dramatic audio recording, or read it aloud in class. For DE's, if you do not have the ability to do a shareable video or audio recording, you may send the poem to me, and I will read it for you. This last option is a last resort because you will not experience the public speaking portion of the assignment.

*Please set all YouTube videos that you create for class to "Unlisted" and share the link with me via email. Doing so will ensure your privacy on the internet.

Be prepared to present your poem in whichever form you choose on Monday, May 4, 2015.

This assignment will be worth 100 points total:
60 points for the poems (2 points per poem)
40 points for the presentation.

  1. 1. Emma Smith
Trials, heart break, disappointment she felt,
She cried at nights but felt peace when she knelt.
When Joseph left she never knew,
What he did or what he had to go through.
Emma Smith was loving, brave, and strong,
Someone I look up to and am inspired by all along.

    2.
    Some have peace,
    some have love,
    some get messages from above.
    Some have heart brake,
    some have trials,
put on someone else's shoes and walk a few miles.

    3.
Plant a little seed to watch it grow,
what will be the outcome, you will never know.
With a little bit of rain and a little bit of sun light,
this little flower is going to put up a pretty big fight.
We need to learn that this is how, we all grow,
the rain will always come before the rainbow.

    4. Died on the cross and suffered for our sins,
he died for us so we need to live for him.

    5.
Different paths that we take, different decisions that we make.
Different choices that we chose, we live to live… we don't live to lose.

    6.
    Wake up
    eat
    brush teeth
    seminary
    school
    lunch
    school
    run
    rest
    eat
    dance
    brush teeth
    go to bed

    7.
    Time flies we all know,
How to live and where to go.

    1. The time you have taken to ponder different topics is apparent in your writing. 7 is short, and it should be developed further, but I like it's flow. It is smooth and true.

Holey cow!!! Number one and two are phenomenal!!!! They are written really well, and you even rhymed the first one, which is always hard for me to do and still have my poems sound good and flowy! You rhymed it and it is still perfect! Amazing job!

The Ways We Say I Love You

    Sharing food, photographs, self
Making time despite the lack thereof
Finding funny, thoughtful things to give
Creating space in the life we live
    Handing out encouragement like candy
Sending smiles along the wires fondly

    2.
    Spring winter spring
    That is a thing
    Buds do blossom
    Frostbite sets in
    And somehow
    With love and care
    And a dash of magic
    Spring sets in again
    Beckoning summer
    An endless gorgeous summer
    To settle in
    Forever

    3.
    Patience gives you an invitation
Everlastingly asking for a bit more time
Affectionate and tender tasks at hand
    Carefully teaching trust and love
Even when life is at its worst

    4.
Roses bloom in this glad garden
    Smiling reds and purple passions
Soak up the sun in all its grand glory
    Friendship for a soil
    Kindness, sweetness, cheerful chatter
Feed the roots and force their smile

    5.
The light of God rests gently on my shoulders
    Bearing up my burdens many
As I listen for his sure guidance
There is a word I've persevered to know
    Listen
    Listen
Listen for what He would have you do
Listen for that light within to show you the way
Listen to the love that is around you
Listen to the happiness that comes with trust

    6.
    Take me with you
    I wished upon a star
Take me where you always are
    Hold me tightly
    I pleaded with the night
Hold me forever within your light

    7.
Your song that your soul sings
Tells me a story that I want to hear
My story that my soul sings
Adds to your story in such harmony
Our story that the past, now, and always
Gives a gladness that touches everyone we know.

    1. Cats
    So fluffy
    And sweet
    So cuddly
    And cute!

    2. If I had but one wish
    It would be for me
    To be with you forever
    To grow old with you
    To make memories with you
    Forever

    3. Summer.
    Climbing trees
    Swimming in pools
    Staying up late
    Gazing at the stars
    Tanning in the sun
    No homework
    Freedom

4.Do you ever look up at the stars
    And wonder
    What is up there
What is beyond what you can see

    5. I am sometimes told
    That they are just books
    Just movies
    Just letters on a page
I know they are not real
    But I need fantasy
So that I can survive reality

6.Its scary to think that one day
    Everything you know and have
    Will be gone.

    7. So many times I wish my life was an adventure
I wish I could go on a journey like Frodo and Sam
Help a rebellion against an evil capitol like Katniss
    Outsmart a dragon like Bilbo
Look for a cur for a diseased world like Thomas
    Lead a clan like Firestar
Defend my city with a bow and arrow like Oliver Queen
Solve crime like Shawn and Gus
Be a high functioning sociopath like Sherlock
Fight monsters and demons like Sam and Dean Winchester
    And so on
But I guess I just have to be happy with me

(Frodo and Sam are from Lord Of The Rings)
(Katniss is from The Hunger Games)
    (Bilbo is from The Hobbit)
(Thomas is from The Maze Runner)
    (Firestar is from Warriors)

Number 7 is my favourite because I am a huge book lover and some times I feel the same way, I want to go on an adventure of my own and it's hard to think like that especially when you have family and responsibility that demands your attention and sometimes we just crave to do a little more then just live vicariously through books or movies, ya know! Anyway like I was saying 7 is my favorite.

    Poem week #4 April/20/15 9:31am
    1.) Brothers
Come together brothers of mine, Let us be the writers of our minds
And let us take up our crowns and fly, for the end of all time
and on our journey we will find, the gates to the cloud city nine.
For if I am to die, I wish to die beside, my brothers and my sisters at the end of the line.
Gather up your problems and fears, we'll lock them away for adventure draws near.
Make a wish or say a prayer, come on brother we're going to explore the world out there.
We'll chart the stars and see if we can't find the worth of our harts
Let us not disappoint our Lord, what are we waiting for?
that's the grate big world of ours!

    2.) POP!
    Pop, hop in the pan
I make a pop, hop in my hand
I watch the pop, hop move the land
We do the pop, hop dance.

3.) Never look back, never be afraid.
I thought of you the other day
Wasn't it you who use to say
"Never look back, never be afraid!"
    But I looked back anyway
and I saw your ghost standing before your grave
you saying, "Never look back, never be afraid!"
    but I was afraid.
The tears I shed could not be ignored
my life was like a double edged sword
My spirit's a warrior trying to knock down that stone door
but despite my strength, it was I who fell to the floor
I thought I could pick up the pieces and put them back together
But why did I think I could make everything all better?
I never meant to hurt myself falling off the shelf
But the purchase was never made
And still I hear you say
"Never look back, never be afraid!"
I'll climb a mountain to prove my faith
so that one day I'll be the one who says
"Never look back, never be afraid!"

    4.) P.B. and J rap
    you be jelly.
'cause I got P.B. in my belly!
    You say you're silly?
    Oh, I can't dealy!!!
    You jump
    but I be fly
    Calm down child
    no need to cry!

    5.) Next time
Run, run, run or get shot by my gun
Fight, fight, fight the wars just begun
Hide, hide, hide before someone loses an eye
bye, bye, bye until next time.

    6.) Who you are
Focus on how you want to bee seen
and no one else will see you differently
Learn to understand your own feelings
don't distract yourself with how you think others are feeling
    You can achieve anything
just grab hold of the railing
    Take a leap of faith
    now your sailing!
    Friend, the world is waiting
and it's knocking on your front door, it's yours for the taking.

    7.) No excuse.
Mom, I'm sorry I let you down
Dad, I wish I could stand my ground
Brother, I was lost but know I'm found
I'm sorry that that means I have to leave town
    Sister, I'll miss your sound
promise me you'll never feel bound.
To the words unspoken that left me feeling broken
I wish I could set thing strait, but I fear it's far to late
So, I'll apologize and whisper my goodbyes
And hope someday you could forgive me for all my crimes
Their nothing extreme, but still they make me cry
    Because I have no alibi.

      Bonus poem:
      B.) All through the night.
No, Stop, Don't wake me up!
Please stop trying to make me unstuck!
I can't move, so just let me be!
The blankets have grown attached to me!
You pull and I tug! Quit trying to brake up our love!
They have excepted me as their own!
So, why wont you just leave me alone?
"Wake up!" you say. "It's time to start the day."
But, if I wake up, I'll be abandoning my one true love
And dude that's like not ok.
so get out of my room and just let me be
      leave to my blankets company
Just watch as I get Five more minuets of sleep
before my alarm clock goes beep beep beep.
Blankets promise me you'll never leave my side
during the day or all through the night.

      B.B.) The dream
      Ding, dong, open your door
sing a song then sing a little more
open up wide and smile at the sky
wave to the clouds as they pass on by
close your eyes and listen to the world
don't be shy, you can dance the twirl
open your eyes and gaze at the skys
life is fun, now say good bye

put in a bun, pony, or pig
    my orange genuine hair

    #3 Orange
a word that rhymes is a challenge
    a happy sunset, fiery hair,
something I love; I sit and stare

    #4 A gelatin bell
    a heartless no shell
no flounder in the deep ocean sea
    a graceful tentacle bee

    --Can you guess me?--

#5 A beacon of pure energy
The Lighthouse stands strong and tall
    red, white, and gold
like our Jesus Christ who will not stall

to love and save us all
but if we are lost or not in true form
Christ has saved us all and is one who foretold
that it is you he will hold

#6 Her face a million meanings
    lies, truths, mysteries, secrets untold
she lays to please you; trick you, deceive you
you hold her tight; without her you bite

She will take many swindling forms
and will create masses of storms
unless you use her wisely for good
she'll put you in a lazy misunderstood mood

    like I said, she's everywhere...
now go outside enjoy the sun
    have some genuine family fun
    her face a million meanings

    --Can you guess me?--

#7 A lovely day to go outside!
    a sunny cloudless sky
I lay and roll in the sun's rays
but now I am a fry

City lights shining ever so bright
Surrounded in darkness covered in fright
Seeing all of the cars passing you at night
    Billboards scattered everywhere
Being with your family on road trips

    2.
Witnessing the dark feeling inside you when you have done something wrong

Guilt and fear starting to overthrow your hope and faith
    Not knowing what to do

    1.
    Poems—lines, rhyming words,
    About anything, friends to birds,
Rhyming lines like I’ve got here,
Some poems so good they draw a tear,
    Metaphors are fun as well,
    Using stressed words, (the Dactyl)
    Adjectives and Imagery,
    Hyperbole and Irony,
There are long ones, such as ode,
    Some about kissing a toad,
    Onomatopoeia, that’s a mouthful,
If you use your head, think of a symbol,
Poems are cool if you use style,
Free verse, Foil, this could take a while,
    “The stove hates me,” Personification,
    Immovable alliteration,
Fantasy stories, the use of Fiction,
    Opposites and Contradiction,
    Aid to exciting, the Climax,
    Order of words, the Syntax,
The list of devices goes on and on,
    Like the Setting—dusk or dawn,
Whew, I think I’ve done enough,
This was fun, but really tough,
    Repetition is real fun,
    Okay, now I’m done.

    2.—another great acrostic poem.
    Bedtime blankets have their fun,
    Little kids are never done,
All on the couch while operas sing
    Newborn babies blankets bring,
    Kitchen raiding while snuggled up,
Eggs and juice poured in a cup,
The softness of our blankets are,
So great and warm that they go far.

    3.
Load your ammo, dodge the shot,
Sneak around but don’t get caught,
Hear a sound and see a shape,
No way that he can escape,
Lift your sight, aim true and clear—
The Nerf gun battle has gotten here.

    4.
    White has a pretty sheen,
But maybe with a bit of green,
Add just a little hint of blue,
Some yellow makes it all come true,
Orange and red, “oh wow” that’s nice,
I think that I will use green twice,
A bit of purple to make it clear,
A new painting has gotten here.

    5.
The devils, they destroyed my fence,
No wonder that I am so tense,
Pull out the T-posts and the wire,
“I wonder, should I light it on fire?”
Patch up the holes, weld them together,
Tie them taunt with steel infused leather,
It is done, come laugh and shout!
OH NOT AGAIN, MY GOATS GOT OUT!

    6.
Through the air, the ball flies fast,
But not to me, the sphere shot past,
It was hit, came back to me,
I saw a friend, kicked it to he,
He smacked it hard, toward where it came,
Into the goal, point for the game,
One for us, none for they,
Ref says time, WE WON TODAY!

    7.
We are at base, we’re counting down,
Ghost runs off across the ground,
    Nighttime hides his sneaky flight,
He hides real good and then sits tight,
Kids at base come spreading out,
If they see him they will shout,
If they shout then they will run,
He has to tag them, that’s the fun,
The ghost is seen, the kids all scream,
    Instantly vanish so it seems,
Ghost takes off toward the base,
Running fast, a high speed chase,
He closes in on his dashing prey,
He tagged him, now he’s ghost today!

Poetic devices are hard to follow
Every rhyme I make ends up sounding hollow
Rhythm is hard to feel and to write
Irony’s definition won’t come to light
Consonance and assonance are weird words
The lossonance of rhymonance is absurd.
Couplets are amazing, sonnets are a bore
Silly, strange alliteration, streaked and stringy to the core
Though poetic devices are hard to use
(And repetition is super easy to refuse)
Refuse to refuse the mighty use these tools
If you don’t, you’ll soon be known as a fool.

    2
    Science is difficult
    Writing a chore,
    History is mind-numbing
    Math is a bore

    But I don’t think that,
No, I don’t think that anymore

    3Kittens
    Kinetic balls of energy
    Ignoring our commands.
    Truthfully delightful and
Too much fun to play with.
    Elusive little cats that
    Never should have to leave

    4No one, nothing
    No one
    Nothing
    can shake me
    No one
    Nothing
    can make me
I am who I am, so
    No one
    Nothing
    can break me

    5
    Heroes mighty
    Heroes weak
    Heroes fates
    can seem so bleak

    Heroes nice
    Heroes mean
    Heroes weapons
    aren’t so clean

    Heroes then
    Heroes now
    Heroes should
    have a crown

    Heroes aren’t
    Just the strong
    My heroes are
    My dad, my mom

    6My blanket
i love my blanket to bits and pieces literally pieces because it has holes all through and it it is blue and white and faded and amazing and soft with more holes than fabric and my mom says i am sort of too old for it but i still carry it everywhere and it is my favorite thing that i have had since i was born it wasn’t made by my mom but it was my best friend when i had none and when i am sad i go to my room and snuggle with it and feel the fuzzies on my nose and i used to not be able to sleep without it because it has been mine forever and it is my only special blanket and i love it so much

    7
    A blanket is amazing
    It has so many parts
It warms me up when I am cold
    It always warms my heart

    The Holy Ghost is amazing
    He’s with everyone
    He just like a blanket
He turns his back on none

    So keep your blanket always
    and the Holy Ghost too
    They will keep you warm
And guide to what is true

These are more of my old poems:
    a.She gently brushes their hair
    with a natural comb,
    then changes the shades
    drastically,
    dying it red,
    brown,
    yellow,
    never letting them keep
    their natural color.
    Then in clumps
    with her scissors
that are much sharper than the comb,
    yet no different,
    she cuts it all off
    drops it on the ground,
    and sweeps it
    with her comb-like scissor broom
    across the world untidily.
    I have to clean up
    after her mess
    with my mundane rake,
    nothing like her life-changing tools,
hoping that she won’t scatter them once more
and laugh in her shrill voice,
    forcing me to start again.
    But after all,
    Mother Nature’s the stylist.
    I am just the janitor.

  23. Fourth Poem: A place to Dream

    Down by a small stream
I lay down to rest each week
    In such bliss i dream

    Fifth Poem: Star Child

    The eyes of a child,
    Are open and wide,
For they view the grand heavens above.

    The stars sing them songs,
    Of a star child born,
Who would change the world with his song.

    A song of wonder,
    tells of his mother,
    Fair Beauty and wondrous divine.

    The children all wait,
    For this foretold day,
When the star child will bare his light voice.

(Its a very long poem so I only submitted four stanzas.)

    Sixth Poem: Diet

    D - Dastardly Dreadful idea
    I - The Infamous fix
    E - An unpleasant End
T - To all women Everywhere

    Seventh Poem: Child

    Child
    Happy, wondrous
    Laughing, jumping, snacking
    Happy to be free!
    Human.

    1. Ms. Jackson do you approve of Lengthy poems? I wrote these all up on my way home form work to complete the assignments. However i write poems often but hey are pretty long. Am i allowed to submit those? Also if i choose to write one LONG poem would that count as one weeks worth?!

That is what I have been waiting to ask her too. I occasionally write long poems too and sometimes they are really good, so I thought those could be counted as 2 poems instead of one.

      Please respond Sister Jackson!!!!

    1. Every word I swallow
    I decide not to say
I wouldn't want to make others feel hollow
And I wouldn't want to ruin their day
So even if I have a thought
I try to keep it in
Because this is what Jesus taught:
Being rude to others is a sin.

    2. I unwrap the crinkly red wrapper
    It's a truffle you see
I pop it in my mouth
    Oh, the sensational spectacular taste
    Of a Lindt truffle ball!

    3. It feels soft
    It looks ragged
    It smells like sleep
    It sounds like...um...
    It's my beloved blanket!

    4. I am running out of ideas
    My brain just isn't functioning
What should I write about now?
    I can't think of anything!
    Ah, help me!
    Please!
    Give me an idea,
    An inspiration, please!

    5. Life is good!
    Life is hard.
    Life is great!
    Life is challenging.
    Life is fun!
    Life is sad.
    Life is happy!
    Life is tough.
    Life is beautiful!
    But life is NEVER bad.

    6. The cabin all alone
In the mountains it is hidden
A goodbye to it is bidden
Since there is no coverage for your phone!
(This was based on a cabin in the mountains that my parents were staying at and my dad didn't have coverage on his phone so they came home early! :p)

    7. The river flies by,
    Rushing over rocks,
    Creating rapids,

Islands spread about through the middle,
Trees lean over the side, flourishing in green,
A pathway lies along the edge of the land,

Animal life galore all throughout the surrounding land,
    Deer, snakes, beavers, birds,
    All call it their home,
    Along with I,
Because the Green River is my home.

P.S.- I was trying to depict the river that our land is right next to but I changed the name, just for internet safety. (It's not actually called the Green River!) :)

    The Dragon:

    1)Dragon, green scales, breathing fire
Smoking out, “I burnt the tire”.
Wind blown back in its face
    Melted, smothered, without a trace.

    Elementary School

    2) The school did not founder
    Deserted alone yelled louder,
“Who can help a poor fellow?”
Lost and alone to be mellow.
    Turning brightly in the sun
    Although he was very young.
    Poor child needs a friend,
At school there can be sent.

    Grandmother:

    3)Flowers, pink, yellow, and red
    I love my grandmother because
She made me a purple blanket bed.
Although she did not make it match,
She did something special for me,
And made my very own blanket batch.
Just so that I might see,
How lovely and sweet she can be.

    4) Airalisseeda = Earth Guardian

Her face was cold when she was found,
    Scarcely breathing on the ground
Her eyes were dark forest green
    Unlike all other colors seen.
She was different from the rest
Kind and tender was her best.
Until she fell from the sky,
    Katherine she was known by.
She was changed into something new
Great and mysterious she is to.
    Ivy tangled around her face,
Arms, legs, like it was lace.
They could not pull her out of it
    Because she protected every bit.
The forest she was bound along
To save and guard the earth’s song
That gives life a second chance
To cleanse away from a distance.
No one knows what her name is truly
Only she knows the world fully.
    My imaginary hero: Airalisseeda

    Light = Truth

5)Light is full of warmth, truth, peace,
Great things await for those in need,
Seek all the good you can,
The Lord will bless that man
Who strives to keep faithful, and
    Who endures to the end.

    6) Sister:

    Sister where are you?
Near or far, I love you
    You are my best friend,
Can we have time to spend?
All my secrets I give to thee,
That you might be close to me.
~I want to dedicate this poem to Mauryn.

    7) Jesus Christ is The One

    He is the creator
    He is the master
    He is the healer
    He is all powerful
    He is all knowing
    He is loving
    He is kind
    He is Jehovah
    He is the Messiah
    He is our brother
    He is the lamb
    He is the ultimate sacrifice
    He is The One

    Jurassic World is coming,
    The trailer has me hyped,
    I will destroy that movie,
Spend my money until I am broke,
Buying 24 tickets to watch it with.

I forbear to talk to my forebear,
    I found a fawn faun,
    It was illicit to elicit,
I was ensured to be insured,
    I flaunt to flout.

There once was a foundered founder,
    Who needed to exorcise,
He had to ensure his illicit flaunt,
There’s so many words that exist,
But why must I use them all?

Utah weather is like it, except for one detail.
In Goldilocks' story, she wanted the temperature just right.
In Utah, the weather changes from hot to cold, overnight.
Utah is a wonderful place, or so it may seem,
But really Utah is just a place filled with extremes.

    25. Like wat?

    26. Rain.

    Rain can dampen,
    It can chill,
    It can depress,
    It can muddy,
    Or,
    It can clear,
    It can invigorate,
    It can elevate,
    It can cleanse
    It can nourish.

I love number 22 and 23! It just goes to show that everyone can create stereotypes and believe them, but also believe that they don't over-generalize. Thanks for your perspective!

    This sick dog trev,
    He's super cool,
    He leaves victims dead,
    His raps make me drool.

    Don't ever doubt,
    This sick dog trev,
    He's. super flout,
    He has a big head.

    My engine will rev,
    He's so super hot,
    This sick dog trev,
    I like him a lot.

    Trev has cool hair,
    He doesn't listen to dev,
    Strange things are there,
    On this sick dog trev.

    2.
    I'm always losing crap,
    Oh ostentatious me.
I lost my jacket and my wallet,
Now these things I'll never see.

I left my jacket on the roof,
The roof of my friends car.
I cried as we drive away,
My sweet jacket in a land afar.

I left my wallet in Texas,
    Gosh freaking dangit i'm done.
I went back to look for it,
    But it was already gone.

If you ask about my flounders,
    I'd tell you I didn't know.
    I guess it's just punishment,
Crap I can't find my pillow.

    3.
    "Croaky loke"
I'm not sure if I get,
    Your stupid joke.

    "Piperdee pie"
    What're you saying now?
    Please don't lie.

    "Sneckpile deck"
    You're making no sense!
    Oh my heck.

    "Dapellar cellar"
    Miss what's your name?
    "It's Hellen Keller"

    4.
You think you know but you don't,
you say you will but you won't.
    I'm never lying,
    you're just not trying.
    I'll make this work,
    just get to work.
    I always care,
    you're never there.
    This is fun,
    this poem is dumb.
    It sounds like a song,
    but gurl you're wrong.
    Shush my sweet lover,
    i'm still coming over.

    5.
    One minute to an hour,
    The time flies by,
    Our departure is sour,
    In every single way.

    She lays by my side,
    She's all I think about,
Her dad comes in and shouts,
    "Why are you making out!!!"

    6.
The desert is a dreary place,
With nasty bugs and snakes that race.

The desert sand so hot and dry,
Has rising peaks both low and high.

The need for food and constant thirst,
He hopes for good and not the worst.

He sees a light as he draws a breath,
The desert sands bury him to death.

    7.
    I step out the door,
As I draw a deep long breath,
    Spring is her my friends.

  37. 1) Where I belong

If I lose my mind today,
    Then I’ll be fine tomorrow.
    If I’m fine tomorrow,
Then I’m on the right track.
If I’m on the right track,
Then someday, I’ll make it back.
    Back to where I belong.

    2) dad
    Oh father, oh father
    Take me please,
I Long to be with you in the cool morning breeze.
    Oh father, oh father,
I want to go with you,
    By the oceans so blue.
    Oh father, of fathers,
You're the best one there is,
    I couldn't ask for a better one,
To teach me the rewards of getting all of my work done.
    You've been there for me,
    Through thick and through thin,
And you always cheered me on, even if I didn't win.
    Oh father, oh father,
    I do love you so,
    You are my dearest friend,
And I know I am yours.

    3) a sick day.
    The clenching of the throat
    The fever grows high,
I begin to dread this sick day drawn nigh.
    I feel like crap,
    In the lightest of terms,
I fear that my tongue has turned into a worm.
    I ask for a blessing,
    Only faith can buy.
    My throat starts to ease,
    My fever has lowered,
    From its tower on high.
I am truly grateful for a father above,
Who healed the sick and the dead,
Out of true and real love.
This sick day has turned into reminder you see,
I know that He truly does love and care about,
    Me.

    4) life
    Music is life,
And jazz is the way you live it.

    5) breathe
    Just breathe,
    That's what they always say.
    But they don't know,
What it's like to be carried away.
You told yourself, you wouldn't end up like this.
In a mental hospital where your mind's gone
    Amiss.

    6) I want to be an opera singer.
I want to sing in the opera when I grow up.
A standing ovation I'd have each night.
I want be and opera singer when I grow up.
    My vibrato would shatter glass,
    And fuzz people's sight.
I want to be an opera singer when I grow up.
    I'd get loads of money,
    And that would be good.
(Sing in operatic tone of voice)

    7) scream
Screaming at the top of my lungs,
A ringing through my ears is about to be sung.
My mind goes blank, and heart grows numb,
I start to forget for what I have come.
I cannot awake, no matter how hard I scream.
    Falling and falling,
I wish this had been a dream.

    Week 4

    1. Once I Met a Llama

    Once I met a llama
    It was quite the diva
    Its name was Polka

    This little llama
Was once chased by a cheetah
And almost bit by a cobra

    Then found in the plaza
Where it say on the sofa
    It ordered a soda

The llama sat drinking a cola
    When found by a zebra
    Who was with an alpaca

    I was in the area
    I approached with an idea
    I brought them a pizza

    That’s how I met a llama
    Who was quite a diva
    Her name was Polka

    2. I have this magic purse
    Actually I do not
But if I did have a magic purse
    Here is what it’s got:
A book or two, way more
To read or keep my thought
    So no matter where
    It will never go unthought
I will keep my favorite dream
    So it’s never forgot
    Also my favorite memory
Where it’ll be like a snapshot
    The laugh of a friend
    A breeze that was caught
    A feather of an owl
A cloud tied into a knot
All this and so much more
If a magic purse I got

    3. This is me
    Not you, not we
    Just let me be
I don’t care if you agree
I’m good with what I see
    For this is me
It’s who I want to be
    I want to be me
    This is who I am
    For this is me

    4. I hear the gentle tappings
    Of the sweet spring rain
    Then feel the gentle drops
    Sweep away my pain
    Smell the sweet wet air
    Enough to drive me insane
    Taste the gentle breeze
    I hope it will remain
    See it all unfolding
When it rains, I don’t complain

    5. I wonder if there is a way to escape
My world, my life, my everything
Where I can be a superhero wearing a cape
Or a princess marrying a king
Wait… there is a way to escape
    It’s called reading a book!

    6. If I went to a ball
I would dress up and go
I would have a mask and a shawl
I would stand on a balcony and look below
Not want to go down so I will stall
Sometime I will need to go down though
So wait for my name that they will call
Then down the stairs I will go slow
    I will trip and fall
    Into this cute fellow
Who will help me up and all
    Dark and handsome, nice also
Embarrassed I wanted to away crawl
He only smiles and gave a bow
I was more than a little enthrall
    Then offered me his elbow
We spent the evening without any befall
I felt like I was aglow
If only I went to a ball

    7. What if

What if I found a stranger in my house or room?
What if I saw a witch riding high on a broom?
What if I saw a prince and we danced in the ballroom?
What if we knew each other but only met in costume?
What if we never thought and never did assume?
What if us meeting brought a bigger doom?
What if we look back and always remember in gloom?
If we always think in what ifs, it could bring a bigger doom
Don’t think that way, just let whatever happens bloom

    I can't seem to think
My head is in the clouds
My thoughts are all down the sink

    I can't handle the stress,

    Knowledge is power
Knowledge is a most precious gift
    Knowledge comes by study
    Knowledge comes by faith
    Knowledge comes by the spirit

    3.
    Sometimes a song
    Seems to know me
    It seems to explain
    How my thoughts are insane
    It seems to inspire
Me to reach a little higher
It seems to give me hope
Not to let go of that rope
    It seems to express
    How I feel in distress

    4.
    Words can
    Inspire
    Enlighten
    Build up
    Give hope
    But they can also
    Destroy
    Hurt
    Bring down
    Offend
    Words are powerful
    Use wisely

    5.
    To gain wisdom
    You must have knowledge
    To gain knowledge
    You must learn

    6.
    Molly the Walrus
    Is going to save us!
    With her laser eyes,
    She'll make the villains cry.

    7.
    Don't wait for the opportunity
    If you wait to long,
    You'll miss it.
    The time is now
    It won't be easy,
But it will be worth it.

    1. It's weird to think just how fragile we really are,
Being human we love to much,
    Hate to much,
    Trust to much,
    Fear to much,
    Dream to much,
    Wish to much,
But mostly just care way to much.

    2. Is it just me or do other people get scared to talk,
    not want to stand out,
so you hide in the corner and try not to be there at all,
you wish you could be brave,
and sometimes feel well enough to walk with your chin held high,
but it doesn't last that long
no matter how hard you try,
I guess I'm just supper shy.

    3. Sometimes it's nice to be a kid,
goof around and do what ever you like,
not worry about what you did,
spending all day on your bike,
but other times it would be great to be a adult,
    to take care of yourself,
    to have your own rules,
have what ever you like on your shelf,
    having your own tools,
I look forward to that day.

    4. We all have that one thing or person that can make us happy no matter how bad our day is,
    wither it's just seeing them,
or having that thing come into your head at a random time,
sometimes you don't even know how important they are to you until after they leave or you leave that thing behind.

    5. We need to appreciate every day,
we won't always have time to play,
    there could be a delay,
    were everything turns gray,
and all we can do is pray,
    but we still have today.

    6. I'm so glad to be home,
    where I know I'm safe,
and I have no need to worry,
    Because I'm with my family.

    7. We all have light,
    it came give is sight,
or it can tell us what's right,
    it's quite a delight
that we have the light of Christ in our lives.

  42. My cow poem of the week:

I am thankful for your gift to me
In return for the minimal things which I do for thee
The beautiful milk so fresh and white
Even though to get it is such a fight
You are a cow, stubborn, it’s true
Never mind, I actually do way more for you
I don’t know if it is actually worth it
You always put up such a fit
Don’t you forget that I am a sinner
And sometimes wouldn’t mind a little beef for dinner

    Time:

    Time is like a river,
Nobody knows exactly where it starts or where it ends.
We are like a fisherman’s lure,
We only get to see time for a moment before we are swallowed up by a fish.

    Sleep:

Sleep is like an enormous mass of aspirations and hopes that we all want; combined with our deepest fears. Dreams fill our heads with incredibly detailed portraits of how we wish our perfect lives would happen. But, alas, it all is gone in a blink as we wake up. We can’t wait to return to our sanctuary of peace and happiness again.

Sleep 2 (it deserves two poems):

Sleep is just as our hopes and dreams for the future, it is a beautiful thought with great intent; it’s just out of reach and somewhat unattainable. It is the thing that keeps us going, the thing that makes us better and helps us mold into the person we have the potential to be.

    Clouded Thoughts:

Is it common to feel a clouded thought?
Like your brain just isn’t working like it ought?
Some tell me, “ It’s just brain fog”
Because your thought process is in a bog
Others call it by a name of which I am quite fond,
Let’s keep it simple and say it’s because I’m blonde.

    Reality Check:

    Reality check:
    Shocker! We are all imperfect.
But let’s get over the fact as of now
    And let’s remember just how
    We can become anew
For the Savoir suffered for me and you.
He made the decision to Atone,
Because of that, we are never alone.

    Stress:

If it is a disorder, then I have it.
The thoughts that go through my head even if I am just here to sit
    Worry wart is the name,
You stressed? Just join the gang!
We stress until there is nothing to stress about
And then we stress because we are all out
There is no point to the pain we put ourselves through
    Believe me, it’s true.

I just want to say that I am very sorry if any of my poems offended anyone, I really was not trying. Just so y'all know :D

Oh longtoothed fly, you have made me cry
And fall off my pet again.

As I tumbled to my death
I started running out of breath
    And wanted so terribly
To be rescued by my friend
That would be there in the end
Whether living or dying next to me.

He swooped down from the sky and pulled me from the air

  45. Week 4

    1. The giant beast lies dormant still,
    it’s hunger is no more.
It’s lonely being is noticed not,
no one can hear his roar.

His stony spine rises high above
    the people who live below.
And his giant sloping back is now
    covered in a white snow.

    His breathing is forgotten,
    most people do not feel,
the rise and fall of his sorry breath,
no one knows his gaze of steel.

People blindly look but do not see,
they listen but do not hear.
    For they have all forgotten
of this beast which is so near.

The beast, his name is nature.
His spine in the mountain lies,
    but unless you listen hard,
    you cannot feel the rise

    of his heavy, lonely breath.
    We cannot feel the beat
    of his sorely throbbing heart,
    that booms beneath our feet.

    2. It must be done don’t let it pass,
I’ll do it when I rise.
But as I wake I find, alas,
    I have a play practice.
But I know that when it is done
    I will finish my task.

The play practice has come and gone,
    I’m at my grandma’s house,
but when I go to my own home
I’ll do it yes I will.
I know that when I get home
    I’ll do my task alone.

    I finally get back!
But I have things to do!
    And I Forget my task,
    I know, I know, it’s true.
And now I do it anyway,
    I will finish my task.

    3. Purple, purple, deep and fine,
will your heart please be mine?
    Blue, blue, cold and sweet,
    will our hands ever meet?
    Red, red, hot and fierce,
you make and arrow my heart pierce.
    Green, green, luscious, soft,
you make my head float aloft,
    Yellow, yellow, warm and bright,
you can light up any night.
    Orange, orange, tart in hue,
all my colors, I love you!

    4. We are a family,
    we are of god,
    we stand together,
    and we are loved.

    Our father loves us,
    I know he cares,
    and with his guidance,
    we’ll make it there.

    Up to his palace,
    with all our friends.
    We are disciples
    his love never ends.

    We’ll spread his gospel,
    we’ll spread his love,
    we’ll help more people,
    and end up above.
    5. (Using commonly confused words)
    My motions were discreet
as I walked down the street,
    I went into my house,
    as quiet as a mouse.
    I was somewhat disinterested,
    or maybe just uninterested,
in the rough draft of my paper,
but it would make me feel dapper…
then all of the sudden a draft
blew away my poor rough draft!
    It made me very sad,
    and also made me mad,
for that paper’s purpose was dual,
    an expression of a duel.
    It was about desserts,
    and eating in deserts.
But this duel ends up a draw,
for I took a hook out of my drawer,
and grabbed the paper from the wind,
    in the process tearing it,
so I only got some of my paper.
    The end.

    6. I know I’ve always loved you,
you might not say the same,
but you have been the crutch for me
at times when I was lame.

You help me voice the images
that I see when I dream,
when there’s a hole in my ideas,
you help me sew a seam.

The words that I cannot speak,
    I use you to display,
and when I get that writer’s block,
    you help clear it away.

You help me with so many things,
to draw, to write, to feel,
oh I love you so, so much,
    my number two pencil.

    7. Fluffy, sweet, somewhat smart,
    jumpy, loving, fast.
Cute, small, a work of art,
    always having a blast.

    Messy, curly, sometimes loud,
    frantic, hungry, brown.
    Sleepy, edgy, somewhat proud,
    jumping off the ground.

    Little baby nutella,
    bright, ticklish, naughty.
She thinks she is the alpha,
    charming, happy, puppy.
    My dog Hazel.

    The robin flutters down
    The hawk swoops around
    The robin finds something
    The hawk notices movement
The robin picks up a small twig
    The hawk catches his prey
Two things in two beaks being carried away

    2)
    Always moving forward:
    Moving past the failures,
    Humbly flaunting my successes.
    Disregarding my flounders.

    3)
    Sunshine unfurls
    Unforgettable memories
    Muggy heat
    Mouthfuls fo popsicles
    Endless outdoors
    Relaxation galore
    …I can’t wait!

    4)
    There is a fine balance
    For everything in life.
    No idea goes without
    That important line drawn.
    The extremes of each side
    Can be unhealthy too.

    5)
There are things we learn from nature.
    Diligence from the sun
    Confidence from the birds
    Solitude from the fox
    Boldness from the trees
    Purity from the rain

    6)
    Perfectly uniform
    Red, ripe, and juicy
    Hanging on for dear life
    Tomatoes on a vine

    7)
    In Acts chapter 5,
    An experience is shared
Of a couple who selfishly lied to God.
When the apostles asked for any donations,
The couple held some riches behind,
But openly shared “all” of their possessions.
Their secret plan bit right back,
For suddenly they were struck dead.
    It got me thinking,
“Is there more I can do to serve?
Am I holding something back from the Lord?”

The cashier will tell me what’s special today

I look at the list but see no delight
I look to the left, I look to the right
But then I saw through the corner of my eye
That it was a Monday and so then I sighed

When I give them the cash and pick up my food
I walk out the door in a very sour mood
But then in the car when I see what’s inside
The smell of hot cinnamon rolls made a smooth ride

    4. Chess is a game that requires some thought
A game with no strategy is like casting lots
Its best to go second, by that I mean black
Because with their move, you’ll see what they lack

With a move too far out, your king can be checked
If you don’t defend him, then you will be wrecked
The game requires patience and also control
So that when you lose you don’t sell your soul

    5. The man with no shoes complained until he saw the man with no feet
The man with poor eyesight complained until he saw that man with no eyes
The man with thin hair complained until he saw the man with no hair
The man with no money complained until he saw the man with no home
The man with no hope complained until he saw the man with no faith
The man with no ease complained until he saw the man with no wrong being crucified for him

    6. There is no need for us to complain
Because of Him we need not feel the pain
Not the pain that comes from our physical self
But the pain that hurts our spiritual health

    7. Perfect tune
    Imaginative creativity
    Angelic with a touch
    Noisy with a bang
Open to all who seek to wield fame

    Rain or shine

    Soccer, soccer
    Go, go, go!!

    Teamwork, friendship;
    that's how we roll!!
    We play, we practice,
and together we reach our goal!!

Why does this have to end?
    Our lovely summer life.
Why do we have to pretend?
That it doesn't cause us strife.
    I won't forget the way
your hands went through my hair.
    I won't forget that week
we spent in the fresh mountain air.
Every time I see you it reminds it will end.
    You have to leave.
I know that I will mend,
but that peace will take time to achieve.

    I remember waiting.
Waiting for you at my window,
    though knowing you'd never come,
    I couldn't really help it
all I could think about was you.
    Although I couldn't admit it.
    Not to anyone.
    Not even myself.
    And now it's too late.
For now I have to wait.

    My mom hates my poems

    Everytime I write them
    The tears come like rain

    Her critisism cuts
    so deep like a knife
    even though she's teasing
    it ruins my life. :)

    The end of an era.
    The close of the day.
    A new perspective.
    A change of way.

    A spiritual rebirth.
    A new outlook.
    A re-awakening.
    The start of a book.

    Change can be good.
We all need a second chance.
    A restoration.
To enhance what they did at first glance.

    Sometimes I wonder
as I look up to the sky.
I wonder how it would feel
to fall from up so high.
    Would it be exciting?
    Or could I just fly?
    How would it feel?
    To die.

    Not in a negative way.
    I'm just curious you see.
    One day.
    Someday I will know.
    Maybe in May.
    A peaceful evening.
    After I hit the hay.
I will know how it feels someday.

    This is my 20th poem.

Twas once a girl, stole my heart, did she.
The only obstacle between us, was that beard-faced he.
He had lots of money, but I did not have any.
I didn't have much, only nickels and pennies.
Resorted to my good looks, and sharp muscles did I.
Challenged him to a duel, I looked him in the eye.
We fought for the maiden, all day and all night.
Muscles I did have, we had a good fight.
But my good looks prevailed, he admitted his defeat.
I grabbed the maiden by her hand, I felt so complete.
Off into the sunset, we did ride.
But before morn, she did die.

Throughout our world, there are creatures called the Geeks
Who walk among us and are characterised by a mentality unique.
They take the form of humans big, small, young and old,
But one uniting attribute is their obsessions uncontrolled.
The obsession could be about anything, be it books or games or shows,
But it will always define every aspect of their life, and it definitely shows.
They will wear merchandise or carry items in their bag
That bear some sort of relevance (it might still have the tag)
To the subject of their mania, such as a character’s favorite color
Or the character’s face drawn on a fake Monopoly dollar.
They might seem harmless at first, but whatever you dare to do,
Never insult their obsession — their next victim could be you.

  72. 1. "New friends, new people, a new chance.
Though I couldn't tell at first glance.
    This isn't a romance,
But I'm pretty sure my life they will enhance."

    2. "Happy to sad.
    Calm to mad.
    Good to bad.
    0 to 100 real fast."

    3. "Always rushing, always crazy.
But it's not because I'm lazy.
    Never on time.
Always get there after the chime.
    I can't change my fate,
For I was born to be late."

    4. "We went from talking until two a.m.
    to talking every two minutes,
    to talking every two days,
    to never talking again.

    5. "Lessons my mother taught me:

    Don't stick your tongue out!
    Cross your legs!
When it comes to make up: less is more.
Don't be late and don't leave last.
    Sunday's are family days!
If you're going to do something, do it right!
    Always mind your manners!
Look good in dirty clothes and better in a dress.
    Stand and sit up straight!
Don't act like a lady, be a lady."

    6. "In a crowd of people.
    And a sea of faces.
    I look for you,
    In the most desperate places."

    7. "5 months pass not so sweetly.
    Nothing about it was easy.
Scars cover skin like old graffiti.
And addictions ran far too deeply.
The thought of turning back messed with me daily.
But hopefully the right path will be continued swiftly."

    Ode To A Blanket
    I wrap myself in thou, cozy coverlet, seamed memory;
O gift of warmth, O quilted comfort, O, beauteous blanket
I find myself at night bereft if, without thee, I am left.
When I wast small, thou madest up an Arabian tent wall.
Now I am grown, and thou hidest my morning’s moan.
I wrap myself in thou, bedspread, glorious weaving of thread!
Thou banisheth my fears, soaketh up mine tears.
I adore thine heat, that wrappeth around my freezing feet.
O blanket, O beloved, O comfort that I dearly loved!

    2. Technology is perfect

    Technology is perfect
    I don't think that
I could live without my perfect i-devices
    flawless pieces of technology
    I know I don't own
    the current model of phone
    I don't care for
things like books, paper and pencils,
i believe perfection is found within
devices Apple, Asus, Android, Samsung and more.
I wish I never had to deal with

    3. (Click) I freeze at the ominous sound.
What could make such a noise?
Snick. I’m alone, alone in this big house,
    other than sleeping little brothers.

(Click) It sounds like the lock to the door.
    A burglar! It must be!
(Snick.) I’m alone, alone in this new house,
Eleven, scared, huddled on the couch.

(CLICK) What is going to happen? I’m scared.
    Climbing off the couch,
(SNICK) I creep to the door, heart in my mouth.
    Please, please, go away burglar.

(CLICK) The dread sound comes from behind.
    Oh, what could it be?!
    (SNICK!) I’m dead, I know, I’m dead, I’m dead.
    Then I realize. I know. It’s Salty.

Click! Our hermit crab moves placidly
    Inside his glass cage.
Snick! Going to eat a midnight snack,
    Unaware of my panic.

    4. The Bathtub Monster

All children beware the creature in the tub!
    Those who don’t go glub-glub-glub...
    Like poor Tommy -Tommy McBub
One Saturday night, he went to the bathtub.

He turned on the water and hopped in the tub
Pulled out his soap and started to scrub.
When there came an ominous noise,
    echoing among those bathtub toys.

Poor little Tommy froze in the tub,
before turning back to his toy sub.
“Sounds as though the plumbing’s gone bad,”
He shrugged. “I’ll have to tell Dad.”

A gurgling voice, from the plug of the tub,
“Don’t you know who I am, man cub?”
Tommy rolled his eyes at this, with a smirk.
“Very funny, teasing brother, but it won’t work!”

The voice said “For forty-nine years have I haunted this tub,
and never have I ever received such a snub!
I am no brother, no teasing sibling!
Fear me! I am a Loch Monster Nestling!”

Tommy let out a laugh that echoed in the tub,
“Good one, brother, but it won’t rub!
I’m not a fool, not a cat to be scared.
I’m not afraid.” He unfortunately declared.

“I WILL EAT YOU!” Roared the monster in the tub,
    “You disrespectful, uncomprehending little grub!”
Tommy snorted and turned his back on the plug,
ignored it as it rose with a glug.

A slimy tentacle reached through the tub,
    grabbed Tommy with a glub-glub-glub,
dragged his shrieking body down the plug
and left with no sound but a glug-glug-glug.

No more was he seen in the tub,
Indeed that was the end of Tommy McBub.
So beware all you children, when in the bath!
Arouse not the bathtub monster’s wrath!

    5.
    Rains fall around me.
Sheets of grey and blue soak.
    Deep breaths and wet smiles.
