My Protector Poem
ReplyDeleteMy sleepy dragon lays on his side
A mossy green leather hide
My sleepy dragon thunders from inside
Where gems and rubies are kept to hide
My sleek sandy serpent winds and twists
She'll snip and bite or engulf quite whole
My sleek serpent, un-still, she waits
Guarding a lair of ancient treasure
My darting cheetah strikes quickly
With a flash of lightning on padded paws
My darting cheetah, tears stain her face
As she leaps gracefully on, place to place
My gentle unicorn grazes amongst her fields Laughing through shrubbery and over growth My gentle unicorn carries me through
Her tender kept forests; gold, green, and blue
My Dragon is the surrounding mountain range
My Serpent is the sandy desert dunes
My Cheetah is the sharp thunderclap storms My Unicorn is the blooming garden groves
Now this is my protector:
Nature herself, who is grown and cared for by:
My Protector, my Father, my loving
God, himself
Wow! Beautiful and creative! We should make it into a song!
DeleteThat was really great! I loved it! I liked how youu rapped it up at the end. That was great!
DeleteI feel like this poem exemplifies your personality, which I really like/liked. mmmm it was so good! The imagery was really well done, and I liked the word choice as well. Yay! Good job!
DeleteGabe's idea of making it into a song would be wonderful--especially if you'd all perform it the last week that the DES are with us. hint, hint.
DeleteThis is really creative Caliegh!! I really liked the repetition that kinda brought the whole poem together! I really like your writing.
DeleteWow Caleigh I really liked the way you personafield nature.
DeleteCaleigh this reminds me of my poem last year where I also compared the earth to a dragon! But I loved how you took it farther! As I was reading I was trying to guess what the animals represented, it was quite intriguing! And then at the end you totally tied in the importance of nature and the spiritual aspect of it! SO great!

they are like a faithful bro

they're your mortal foe.

Try as you might,
It'll take a fight.
Then you see,
the bars of three

and your friend's back

Ugh!! Spencer! Your rhyming is so good!! There was so much personification and I loved how you described this. Nice job!
DeleteThat was great, and I feel the same way. Last poetry month, I did a poem about computers.
DeleteI like the realistic topic that you chose to write about. It is fun!
DeleteHaha, nice man.
DeleteI did a computer poem last year too!
This is great! So true about computers. We love them to death, but the moment they start malfunctioning, they're demons sent to ruin us. I feel like the computer, the way you've described it, is alive (I'm a bit scared now). Good job!
DeleteThe day my laptop doesn't do this same exact thing... I will be so freaking happy. Awesome poem its very relatable.

ReplyDeletePicture fear,
Picture me,
Picture me looking at fear,
Such a thing cannot be pictured!
As fear is not at all a thing,
for I have given it a stare long enough for my well-being.
Spencer E. (TX)
DeleteThat's great! I love that you used personification to make fear seem tangible. Well written and good job!
Very thought provoking. I like how you pointed out you cant look at fear but you seem to have stared at it long enough.
DeleteThat was very beautiful Ryismi!! I liked how to you wrote about fear not being existent in a picture.
DeleteThe Long Empty Road
ReplyDeleteOde to the long empty road
Streching far
and craftily sewn
looming trees strech on either side
threatening to pierce
the open sky
stuffed with rolling clouds
and birds in flight
creating a scene
that crowds the sight.
And still the road
continues to stretch
up a hill
and back again
always moving
yet never leaving
no end
no beginning.
(4th Period DE)
Nicole this painted a picture in my mind so clearly. It totally reminded me of the blanket in Sister Jackson's room. I loved your words that you chose too. Ex: craftily seen, looming trees, threatening, stuffed, stretch... Loved it so much!
DeleteThe picture that you put into my mind was amazing. You were so discriptive and your words flowed together. That was beautiful.
DeleteFor me, this poem presented feelings of: hopelessness, wandering, longing, and adventure. Strange combination huh?? Also, your word choice was simply perfect. Well done.

ReplyDeleteDon't you ever give up
Don't you ever give in
It's okay to fall
Just get back up again
Though the road will get rough
You're surrounded by friends
If you're feeling like quitting
Just reach for their hands

DeleteJULIE WHY DID YOU HAVE TO SAY THAT! AAAH NOW I WANT TO CRY! It does sound like hold on though! Trev this is so freaking fabulous! OH MY GOODNESS SO MUCH TRUTH HERE! This is so amazing! When I am amazed with a poem, I suddenly feel like I have nothing to say! I find this type of poetry hard to write, but you made it seem effortless. Your descriptive words so beautifully paint a picture and tell an engaging story. I really love the feeling that comes across as I read this. I love this poem! It really stood out to me! I think this goes really well with the scripture James 2:26, "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." We forget the massive ability that we have to change our lives. Hank smith said, "Future you does not exist. You are future you" We forget that our future is now. I think you captured that principle so well in your poem! Your word choice and imagery were perfect for your message. Well done!

Unspoken Comfort
She sits there on the rock in complete meditation and thought.
She sighs into the wind and feels that she gave all as she fought.
Like a painted picture she was so still, yet the emotion was alive.
As I stared I wondered, what was in her head that made her continue to strive.
Almost as if her very sigh from the wind was carried therein
I heard the voice from the child within.
I can’t become what I am not.
You use to be whatever you thought.
My life is continuous with no action.
Don’t let your imagination be only a fraction.
I feel weight from all the work and its always the same.
Life was always more fun when you made it a game.
I miss my mother and all her comfort.
You are now the mommy to help all the hurt.
How can I just put on a smile.
All you have to do is fake for a while.
I am an adult- I don’t have time.
If you don’t cherish each moment, it would be a crime.
I can not have my head in a cloud.
That is not what has become your shroud.
Then what do I do?
Pray to God- he will help you through.
That was what mom use to do for you.
A relaxed expression came over her face as her head raised.
Despite all she had been through she didn’t seem fazed.
I watched above proud of the woman she had become.
As her mother, that is what I would have done.
This is absolutely amazing. There are no words I can think of to describe how talented and amazing that poem was! I loved how you gave a little background, to get what you needed to say across. Might I just tell you again. THAT WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!

Dry your tears,

Just for a moment.
To show you the temple,
Built upon the flames
That once held it down.
To show you a child waking,
From months of being trapped
In the slumber of a coma.
To show you a wife embracing
Her returning war hero husband
After nights of bad news,
Tears, and worry.
To show you the beauty after trial.
To show you life after death.
To show you light overcoming darkness.

Even for a moment,
That it all ends here,
When His hands
Were nailed to the cross,
And He rose again.

The thunder and lightning gave me a fright
Then I heard a noise
Its eyes glimmered like turquoise

It scratched the door with its claws
I ran through the halls

I loved the build up of tension, then at the end relief, that it was just a cat!
