A message from your teacher:
I want to thank all of you for the wonderful ways in which you have

of all you have offered in our classroom community.

When I go walking at night/
ReplyDeleteI always see the stranger./
I stopped walking at night/
for fear of the following stranger./
Finally it's time to go to sleep./
but I turn and see the figure./
He's making me go into a wake less sleep./
And now I'm a motion less figure.
That was great. I even pictured the figure. You did a good job painting the picture and actions.
DeleteVery dark and mysterious and creepy but very good. Great job!
DeleteThat's so mysterious and deep Hawken! Let it be known that is my brother. He is mine. And he is my brother.
DeleteOh that's creepy. What a cool poem Hawken.
DeleteI also love Sister Jackson' poem above. I won't forget my brilliant, funny teacher either. Thanks for a great year!
I was reading like, "Oh huh that's nice, nighttime walks" and then BOOM! "GAH HE'S DEAD WHAT THE FREAK HAWKEN WHY YOU DO THIS?" JK but it's really good! It's super simple with the repeating words but you used them in a different way each time! It's so good.
DeleteWell done.
DeleteYou are awesome! It has been a privilege to read so many of your creepy poems. Total Halloween Poetry. You really grab the reader.
DeleteThank you, Brennan!
DeleteThis is so creepy and beautiful and I love how you put /'s instead of comas.

I didn't enjoy a camp that was moist moist/

I'm trying so hard to be joyful/
I think I will just go inside.

How do I make you smile?
What do I do to make you smile?
For your smile is one of the best.
Though sometimes you may lack in rest,
You always go the extra mile,
But with that comes many a trial.
You are always being put to the test,
But with that I know that you’ll be blessed.
How, I ask, do I make you smile?
Everyone needs a friend,
So your friend I will be.
When you smile it always brings
An abundance of joy in every bend.
It opens your eyes so you may see,
For smiling is the greatest of things
Nat. I love that poem! It's the cutest! That poem is just filled with love and I love that poem! That just touched my heart-the while thing! Awesome work!
DeleteAwe thanks m8
DeleteThis is so sweet! I loved reading this! I was like scanning it to see if it fits perfectly in the rhyme scheme, of course it does. Anyway, this is just such a wonderful poem! I like the use of repetition throughout and the resolution at the end.
DeleteNat... You are always super outgoing and loving to others, and this poem expresses that of you. I'm always striving to be like you as your a great example.
DeleteDude, Hawken... Your trying to be like me? I'm always trying to be like you. Your always a great example for me ;)
DeleteNat! I really liked this one. I like the way you ended the lines and it just flowed really well. Great Job!
DeleteThis is such a cute poem, very nice :)
DeleteVery nice poem, Nat. You seem to be having fun with this! And that makes me smile.
DeleteI love that poem. I can see that published in a book!
DeleteWow! I know this poem already has tons of replies but this is just such a great sonnet! Nothing totally abstract yet it still all rhymes! Well done!
DeleteSister Jackson, your poem was really sweet. Thank you. I think it's really cool how you did it in Spanish ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nat! I am not fluent in Spanish anymore, but I like to practice writing in it every so often to not lose it entirely. I'm glad you liked it.
DeleteI had my "Kicks" poem that I am very proud of from today but I turned them all in so here's this:
ReplyDelete"Happiness"
Where will you find happiness today? On bicycle rides
On picnic outings
On monkey bars
On playground slides
Where will you find happiness today? Dancing wildly in a concert crowd
Drinking hot cocoa curled up on a couch
Daydreaming lazily on warm dewy grass
Dancing, singing, and jumping in puddles of rainclouds
Where will you find happiness today? While jamming to your music all alone While gazing up at glinting stars
While cradling a little babe cooing them to sleep
While doing all these things your light will be shown
How will you make happiness today? By cracking a joke to your best friend By serving others who need your strength
By inviting the spirit into your home By making other smile, you make HIM smile
Oh you gave me the chills! Your poems are always so meaningful and inspirational! I just loved this so much, it is so wonderfully put, just so sweet and happy.
DeleteThese poems got super weird.
DeleteWow. Caleigh that was awesome, we need to jam to music while looking at the stars together sometime, now.
DeleteCaleigh, that was great. There are so many ways to find happiness. I have been in a bad mood, but once I read your poem, my mood was lifted. Thank you.
DeleteCaleigh. Your poem made me smile. A lot. I love it! It's so happy and I love it!
DeleteYour poetry has expanded greatly over the month. Great work!
DeleteCaleigh, you obviously find your happiness in poetry, you're amazing. I really enjoyed the ending when you stated, "By making others smile, you make HIM smile." Amazing work. I've admired your poems throughout the month. Thanks for sharing!
DeleteBeing sick is no fun.
ReplyDeleteYou can't have milk or candy.
My throat feels rough and sandy.
You can't even run.
I'd rather be playing in the sun.
The tissues should be handy.
This cold is such a dandy.
My head feels like it weighs a ton.
This cough is driving me crazy.
It interrupts my dreams.
I drink so much water.
I just want to be lazy,
And come up with some schemes
So I don't get any hotter.
That was amazing Brennan. It's so true. Great job!
DeleteI'm always sick and it isn't fun at all.
DeleteWell done!
We are all glad that you only had to miss one day though. Rest up!
DeleteVery true! This is the way I feel when I'm sick. Great job!
DeleteBeing sick really is no fun. I'm impressed you could put something like this into a poem that flowed and showed how you felt about the situation. You even got some sarcasm across. Awesome work! Hope you feel better.
DeleteThe clouds drop their heavy raindrops-
ReplyDeleteGlistening bits of life from the sky.
Rolling down my face- kerplop, kerplop- raindrops
Don’t stop to drop kerplop from the shadowed sky.
Plop, plop, splattered on the wet, black, road.
Drizzles into my splashy rain boots.
Puddles make a playground of the road.
I smile and press forward in my squishy, rain-moistened boots.
"kerplop, kerplop" - KyAnne 2016.
DeleteBest quote from this poem.
That was AWESOME! I love how you used "kerplop". It totally added a ton to that poem. Way to go out with a bang :)
DeleteThe usage of onomatopoeia is highly effective. The impression it has made is evident in the comments here. Wonderful job this month of honing your writing skills!
DeleteBeautiful!! Painted a great picture in my mind. Great job!
DeleteI love the usage of onamonapias in this poem and the spot on description of the feeling of the rain!
Delete"Glistening bits of life from the sky" and "Puddles make a playground of the road." are my favorite parts. Beautiful work KyAnne! The picture you painted and the feeling you gave me are both amazing. I love you KyAnne!
DeleteThe crimson blade glows in the dark,
ReplyDeleteIt's hum is heard throughout the dark,
Its victims know not who they are,
But simply that they have all to fear.
The blade has found its prey at last,
With a hum and a bash at last it crashes,
The screams of the victim are heard as plain as day,
The Sith throws the body,
Its victim was play.
That was really great! Good job :)
DeleteIs this Star Wars? Woah. Cool. I can hear the sabers. Clashing against another.
DeleteIntense! Good work!
DeleteCrap I used "it's" and not "its" D: How do I change this??
DeleteAlso I made this at the last possible second so if it doesn't make sense, blame sleepy me. :P
DeleteThis does sound like Star Wars. I love it. Very Cool.
DeleteIt would be nice to choose your dreams,
ReplyDeleteThe places you go when you sleep.
I often hate the random dreams
That I have that frighten sleep.
If I could pick the spot I land
The wondrous dream land I know,
My perfect, special, happy dreamland,
The life reality doesn't want me to know.
Unfortunate, I must face my bed,
Unsure of nightmare or joyful dream.
But maybe imagination can be my bed.
When I'm awake I'll choose my dreams.
Goodbye Poetry Month.
I'll be back.
Wow! That was great. I sometimes wish that I could control my dreams, or dream about what I want to. I love that poem :)
DeleteWonderful! I have enjoyed your poetry throughout this month!
DeleteI love the feeling in this poem, as well as your writing style. Great job!
DeleteOh my goodness Julie this is absolutely fantastical!!! It's so meaningful, descriptive, and imaginative! This is a work of art Julie. You're such an amazing poet!
DeleteHow do I bug thee
ReplyDeleteI bug thee with my mouth
I bug thee with my poking finger
I bug thee with my silly face
I bug thee with my dancing feet
I but thee with my loud games
I but thee with my repeating music
That was great!;) It is so true. Great job!
DeleteFabulous!
DeleteI love this! Wonderful job.
DeleteLoved this, it reminded me of my little brother.
DeleteHa ha this made me laugh. I bug my sister with some of these too.

The cold days are gone,
and my worries slip away.
Rachel Morris DE student period 4
In four short lines, you paint a picture that we can all identify with. I enjoyed it. Just be sure to not miss the apostrophe in contractions (I am, I'm).
DeleteI heartily agree with this poem. Great job!
DeleteI agree all the way. I can't wait for the warm summer days. Great poem!
DeleteThere are no worries in summer, except for when it ends. I love how you portrayed what summer is to every kid in school.
DeleteYes!!!! Summer! Great Job!
DeleteTruth! I can't wait for Summer either! I LOVE school, but I also love breaks so I can relax and not be so stressed out. :)
DeleteChris Cox DE P4.
DeleteThis Applies to me to the fullest. I loved your rhythm. Great Job!
Random words poem! I kept mine short (and hopefully sweet). Words were: crisp, golden, bright, fray.
ReplyDeleteShe wakes up on a crisp new day
Her eyes are shining bright
She caught herself before her fray
She's glowing golden light
-Ainsley McFarland, period 4, DE
That was really awesome. It paints such a great picture. You turned something random into something beautiful. Great work!
DeleteThat was amazing, I wish I could glow in the morning. Usually I'm a thundercloud.
DeleteChris Cox DE P4. I liked your rhyming scheme, and use of word choice. Nice Job!
DeleteI sit in the water
ReplyDeleteKeeping a float
A shark came out of the water!
Now he is keeping a a float
He didn't bother me
But he was on a boat
But he kept on staring at me
At the end of the day we sailed off in the boat
That was great! I really liked it. It was very well done. Great job!
DeleteWe do what we always do.
ReplyDeleteIF only we could change.
We could be better than we are.
IF we change, who will we be?
A better athlete, richer man, or the first,
to do something incredible.
IF we become those we've missed the message.
We should become better fathers, mothers,
daughters, and sons.
That is what we are here to do,
IF we can do that,
what else is there to become.

I love how intelligent you were in setting this up! I am not one to put words in all caps, but I think that here it was very appropriate and well done! I understood the message you were wanting to get across. We can only become IF we act. I feel that the addition of those 'IF's added so much to the power of your message. Well done.
That was awesome. I really liked how you repeated and emphisized the IF. It really brought out the poem. Great work!
DeleteWhispers spread though out the hall,
ReplyDeleteRumors running far and wide,
Truths and lie, nowhere to hide,
Wishing I could be the wall
Feeling scared, I’m feeling small,
Any little phrase can chide,
Pain is what I feel inside,
Filling with the bitterest gall,
A friend, kind, true, and caring,
Asks of me: “What is wrong?”
I sadly smile and answer back:
“I’m feeling low, my heart is tearing,
Don’t feel like I quite belong.”
We embrace and I receive the happiness that I did lack.

I think you did a really great job with this Italian sonnet. I think you were able to really depict the struggle and hardships through your word choice. Anyone can follow the pattern of a poem, but it is the words that make it great! I thought you were able to do that. Thank you for sharing!
Oh. This is so good!!! I love how it shows how hurtful gossip is. I love it a lot. Go Elise!!!
DeleteWow. I admire your ability to share something that is obviously so personal to you. I could, to some degree, feel the pain that you felt. You are an amazing poet, keep it up. Again, thanks for sharing.
DeleteYou did so good on this! You explain it very well and it's realistic. Very nice!!

ReplyDeleteWhen we care, someone cares back
For we don't know if we helped them out
When we love, someone loves back
Cause next time they might bail us out.

We can be happy for eternity.
If I care for them and they care for me,
We'll be joyous in eternity.

I think this really shows the fact that it takes efforts on both sides to have a relationship. No matter what kind of relationship, love has to be manifested by each individual. It is really cool how you captured that in your structure of the poem. This was really well laid out. I enjoyed reading it. Thank you for sharing!

ReplyDeleteOkay, so my parents made myself and my 3 siblings, when we were really young, a deal that if we didn't kiss anyone until after we were 18 they would give us $500. I got mine last Saturday (April 23)
A deal we made when I was young,
My parents said no kisses,
Till I was an 188 year old young misses.
How easy it was to be among,
Those who gained five hundred dollars.
And to the few that doubted,
IN YOUR FACE I HOLLERED!
And to all the boys that pouted.

Four random words poem
Book
Clock
Basket
Lovely
At the end of the story, I threw down the book.
Overflowing- yet it’s placed in my basket.
I sat there staring at the wall- my mind still immersed in the book.
I glance over and decide... I need another basket.
Tick tock tick- It continues even when you ignore the clock.
The new adventure, land, and friends seem so lovely.
Until I look at the clock...
Tick tock- Time to make my own world lovely.
Yes! I really like this. I agree, life sometimes needs to be like my favorite books but you are right. I love the way you wrote this! Thank you!

Reassured calm and cautious
Relieved his most valuable throne.
Excellent word choice Caleb! I can picture this scene in my mind. Love it!
DeleteI'll just wait for you to come around,
ReplyDeleteI'll just wait for you to settle down,
To show me what it's really like when you're not around.
I'll just wait for your rosy cheeks to show,
I'll just wait in the cold wet snow,
On the sidewalk,
Patiently,
Outside your window.
I'll just wait for things to get moving,
I'll just wait for you to be pursuing
Me.
Endlessly,
Endlessly,
I'll just wait,
Here,
Now.
Agh, Trev this is so amazing! From a quick glance it looks like it should work very well but this poem goes together perfectly! You need to put an instrumental piece with this poem and make it a song!
DeleteThe guardian angel sat next to the man whom he watched over ever night and day,
ReplyDeletethe man was very sad,
the angel felt the pain for him,
he had watched him for years, making sure he was safe,

He loved this man,
he would do anything to keep him safe.
But he couldn't keep him safe from his own thoughts.

ReplyDeleteThere has been a hashtag going around recently that was actually sent out by the church which is labeled #Hisday. I wrote this on Sunday and this hashtag was on my mind so this poem is called:
#Hisday
On His day we rest.
On His day there's no work.
On His day we focus
on Him.
On His day we pray.
On His day we learn.
On His day we try to
be like him.
For His day was made
for us and not Him.
To help us get closer
to him.
That is really good! Very good message!
DeleteGabe this is amazing! I love the message and the feeling that I receive when reading it. You're such a blossoming writer and I always enjoy reading your posts! Thank you for sharing. :)

ReplyDeleteI can’t help myself
Carried away
I’m thinking…
Something is wrong
Screaming, ruins, shadows,
The air smells strange
Fallen buildings on the ground,
Chopping blades shutting out
The howling stops
The quite is more terrifying
Show neither aggression nor fear
The best I can do
Lights keep flickering
Pay attention
And have strength
Wow! Trev this is fantastic! The whole story that you told in those few stanzas came across so vividly in my mind! Great job bro!

Sitting on the beach in the sun,
Laying on a hill, gazing at the moon,
Hiking up a mountain in the blazing sun,
Happiness pouring from the silver moon,

And wonder how in the world,
Is darkness real when I see stars.
This is beautiful Carolyn! I could totally picture that whole scene!

ReplyDeleteThese are my 4 favorite poems from poetry month
ReplyDelete1. (BO poetry)
A terrible war will come when people suffer,
but it will be God who will raise us up.
2.
In a world full of greed
there are thieves in the night
that give quite a fright
and take things they don't need.
In a world of bad deeds
they conceal the light
and hide from sight
and usually they succeed.
But when we join together
and hold hands
the thieves are contained.
Through any weather
that sweeps the lands
we'll no longer suffer pain.
3.
Good friends are special
good friends are true
you help them,
and they help you.
When they are around
but lost from view,
call out to them,
and you'll see them soon.
4.
Once upon a time,
in a faraway place,
uh... I forgot my lines,
now tomato-red is my face.
You forgot to type your name, Anonymous.
DeleteJust a poem. I made up. Heh. Hope you like it :) P.S See everyone next year!
ReplyDeleteThe light can bring beautiful darkness,
The struggle can bring wonderful blessings,
The fight can bring terrifying endings,
But at least we're happy, more or less.
Glad to see you working on your poetry! It has been a pleasure having you in class.
DeleteI'm happy like the sun that shines in the sky,
ReplyDeleteI'm free like a bird when it spreads its wings to fly,
I'm crazy like the ocean waves that crash into the rocks,
I'm fuzzy and warm like a pair of colored socks,
I play the piano the keys black and white,
I hug my mom and dad every single night,
I love shop at the mall,
I love pasta macaroni noodles and all.
I like the similes and the overall organization of your poem. Very nice.
DeletePuddle are reflections,
ReplyDeleteand show you what you seek.
Yet they also could be windows,
for other worlds you'll meet.
You both look at a puddle,
and think you see yourself,
when truly it's your replica,
both in perfect health.
The surface that prevents you
from joining with your twin,
is not the floor beneath you,
but what you hold within.
If such a thing were possible,
all like would slowly fade.
For we would not be special
if we knew another was made.
Excellent food for thought.
DeleteHope is bright
ReplyDeleteIt can outshine the dark corners
Hope is light
It can be the candle in dark paths

ReplyDeleteFor you something i will make,
and on top something pink.
made with some food ink,
and that something is a cupcake.
I have put it in the oven to bake,
it will definitely not stink,
you'll let me know with a little wink,
if you eat to many you'll get a stomach ache.
But after that hurt,
you'll say it was yummy,
it was a good cupcake you smelt.
You'll want more for dessert,
but another ache you'll get in your tummy,
and once in your mouth the frosting will melt.
Wonderful! Now I need a treat.

ReplyDeleteUnlit window
Hard to see
Face burned by the fireflies
Window hidden
Safe strange new stars
Sleep while eyes were wide open
Mouth half a smile
Stepped from the river
He fell back.
I catch a glimpse of a picture that feels quite right
ReplyDeleteAn idea triggered by something in sight
I race for a writing utensil of any kind
To sketch the image before it vanishes from my mind
The image flows onto the canvas quite naturally
I don't really know how it happens, actually
After hours of working like a storm
The image in my mind finally takes form
I step back from the canvas finally at peace
Knowing that now the image from my mind will never cease
I then return to my day
Waiting for my mind to again whisk me away
For another image will surely come to me
And I will have no choice but to draw what I see
