Gratitude Month - Week 4 (AKA THE HOME STRETCH)

If you have questions about this assignment, please read the introductory instructions: click here.

Please note: There are nine gratitude bites required this week.

Sister Jackson's super post for Week 4, the home stretch, the finale of Gratitude Month 2015:

1. Really nice pens are something to be thankful for. And I'm serious. Ever since the invention of the gel pen, writing has become all the more a pleasure.

2. Pillows at hotels are something I am very thankful for. However, not all hotel pillows are created equal, and that's why some people bring their own. I am not that type of person. I take my nightly comfort into my hands by trusting the hotel people, but I have rarely been disappointed.

3. I haven't always had a really nice car, yet having any car should be something to give thanks for. Today, I am thankful for being in a beautiful, safe, loaded, amazing car that affords my family and me so much comfort as we go about our driving adventures.

4. I am grateful for living in this wonderful country. There are flaws. There are problems--even dilemmas. I don't want to focus on those though. As I ponder what is good about America, I see freedom, opportunity, and a future.

5. Family traditions. There are so many of these for me that I want to focus on a few over the next few posts.
The first one I will share is pumpkin pie. I first learned how to make pumpkin pie in my twenties, and as per usual, I wouldn't rest until I changed the recipe enough to call it my own. I make pumpkin pie every Thanksgiving and/or Christmas, and it is a family favorite.

6. I'm thankful for Christmas tree ornaments. My mother began the tradition of getting an ornament for me each year beginning the year I was born, and I have kept up the tradition even after her death. As each Christmas season begins, touching each ornament from Christmases past, I am filled with love and appreciation for the memories I have and the Savior who is at the center.

7. Another tradition to be grateful for is going out to look at Christmas lights. My parents took us out each year at least once, and we'd sing Christmas carols as we drove around enjoying the sparkling lights. The best part about this tradition is that I keep it going with my own children. Every year, we drive around our neighborhood and stop at this house that has a radio station of their own with Christmas songs synced to their light show. It's phenomenal. And speaking of phenomenal, we also go to the Lights at Temple Square most years too. Since moving to northern Utah, we have gone every year except last year when finishing up my degree caused us to not have any time for making the trek.

8. "Is being grateful for being grateful a thing?" said my oldest son. I say it is. Not everyone can or will take time to see what is right in front of them making their life good. I'm grateful that I am able and want to take time to recognize the many things that give me something to look forward to every single day.

9. As this gratitude month challenge closes, I want to express my gratitude for the chance I've had to share my thoughts with all of you. Without an audience, sometimes writing feels empty or devoid of purpose. I am thankful for each one of you. I'm thankful for the conversations we've had about what we find important and worthy of mention. I'm thankful for what you have brought to my mind as you have shared your gratitude bites. I'm thankful for each student who has tried to get over their fear of writing and sharing by just writing and sharing despite the fear.

I'm thankful for being your teacher.

As a bonus since Christmas is now a month away, here is a video of "Silent Night" in Gaelic by Enya. Notice how music brings the words to our minds that we already know. It makes me realize how music is a universal language, and that is how spiritual music leads us to God no matter what language we speak, read, and write.

  1. Part 2:

    5. I'm so grateful for Abby Fadely! She was my first friend here at Liahona, and I love her so much! She is so open and kind to everyone, and she has the cutest personality, and the sweetest smile! Abby, thank you so much for helping me to get into the flow of school, and being such a loving and respectful friend towards me! It's so easy to be myself around you, and know that you love me for who I am. Abby is such an amazing dancer and she is so flexible! I would break my back if I tried to do the fantastic flips and amazing aerials that she makes look so easy!

    6. I'm thankful for Kaitlyn Brown! She started going to school a little before my first YC, but I didn't really know her then. During YC and afterward we began building a friendship, and it's grown so much! Kaitlyn has beautiful blue eyes, and a sparkling personality which is made up of the coolest mix of sweet and sarcastic, which I LOVE! She has the cutest laugh, and she gives the best hugs! Also, she is such an artist! Her drawings are spectacular and she makes the coolest earrings! :-)

    7. I'm grateful for Elijah Bennion! I just met him this semester, and he's the sweetest guy! He's easy to talk to, and has on of the most bubbly, and open personalities ever! He's always able to find a way to make me smile, or laugh, and I can be myself around him. Fun fact: He's really good at creating things with wood. He made an AMAZING walking stick for Bro. Degraff! Also, his drawings are awe-tastic! Sis. Jackson, I just made up a word, I hope that's okay. :-)

    8. I'm thankful for Trevor Christensen! I met him a little bit more than a month ago, and we've already become such great friends. We're like spirit twins! We agree on a LOT of things, and we understand each other really well. We can talk to each other about practically anything, and not feel awkward! Trevor loves Geography, and he wants to study engineering and architecture. Thank you Trevor for being such an amazing friend to me!

    9. I'm grateful for kids! Babies, toddlers, all of them! I love to hold the little babies in my arms and watch their cute little facial expressions. Their sweet chubby cheeks, and they're tiny little eyes that look around in adorable innocence. The cute little toddlers that long for attention. Who love to take my hand and show me their newest creations. The older kids who I can have a some-what more mature conversation with. Who love showing me how much they know, and beg for me to dance with them. Kids bring so much light into my life!

Ellie!! You are sweet! Thank you so much!
You have always been such a good example to me, and I am grateful for that! You always do your best to choose the right, no matter what. You are amazing!

  2. Part 1

    1. I'm grateful for my stuffed animals! My stuffed bunny,(Angel,) is SUPER important to me. My great-grandma gave it to me before she passed away when I was about four years old. When I need someone to talk to, or when I'm depressed and crying, I love to hold her in my arms, and talk to her about my problems. It's like a part my her spirit stayed in the bunny after my great-grandma passed away. I'm am very thankful for stuffed animals, and the comfort they bring.

    2. My imagination is definitely something I am grateful for! Without imagination, life would be SO BORING! Without imagination, my writing would be bland, my acting would be terrible, and I wouldn't be able to amuse myself when there is nothing to do! I believe that my imagination helps to set me apart from others. It makes me unique. Imagination makes the world go 'round!

    3. I'm grateful for Liahona! I've been coming to this school for two (school) years now! Before this I was a full-time homeschooler. On the first day of school, October 2014 I was super shy. As I walked into each of the class rooms I'd feel a rushes of anxiety. I only ever saw classrooms and teachers in movies! It took a little while, but as I got to know everyone, Liahona won a special place in my heart. I absolutely LOVE every teacher! They are so passionate about what they teach! Thank you Liahona for all that you do!

    4. I'm grateful for cookie dough. It's so smooth and tasty! It's fun to make, it's fun to bake, AND you can use it to help build relationships with friends and family! Snickerdoodle and chocolate-chip cookie dough are my favorites.

I LOVE cookie dough! Also just saying on #5-8 I basically did that last week and yeah JR wanted credit for nothing. But anyway back to important stuff: we made cookies last night and I ate more cookie dough than baked cookies. Also, you are so cute Elise posting adorible things every week. Love you girl!<3

    3. Elise I loved the one about stuffed animals! I have a teddy bear named brownie that is my bff. Loved it, love you. :)

Your second bite brings to my remembrance a previous comment that I had posted to another's bite concerning imagination, it being this: without the ability to imagine, life would not only be boring, but bland, repetitive, and lifeless. No inventions would have come to pass because in order for those things to come about, a person must think about what life could be like if that something they are thinking about were to exist in the present, thus needing them to imagine something that hadn't been created before. Thomas Edison had to imagine what the light-bulb would do before he knew how to create it. We would be unable to dream, because dreaming is imagining about a world that either is or isn't but not current. Anything other than reality requires a figment of imagination to which if pursued, can transform from idealism to actuality.

    8. I really like the last one. It reminds me of how how whenever some of my friends in Texas and I would get together we would make this eggless cookie dough. we all ways had fun talking and laughing while making it. Good times. So I guess cookie dough can help build relationships.

  3. 1. Im grateful for my eyes. Even though my eyesight is horrible, and I have to wear contacts, they are still an amazing part of my body. Without them I couldnt see the world. I couldnt see rivers or mountains. I couldnt see my friends or pets. I wouldn't be able to see colors, and I wouldn't really be able to enjoy life.

    2. Im grateful for Christmas time. I just love the holiday season. I love Christmas music, and Christmas clothes. I love decorating my house, and the tree. I love making Christmas treats.
Its awesome to get presents… I know that sounds a little shallow, but I can guarantee that everyone loves getting presents more then giving them. Also I get a Christmas break, AND THATS AWESOME! NOOO SCHOOL, YAY! Everything about Christmas is awesome!

    3. Im grateful for my stuffed animal, a cat named KitCat. I know Im 15, but Ive kinda had to grow up fast, because of all the struggles in my life, from my emotional and mental problems, such as depression, to my physical problems, which limit what I can do, to my brother's death, and so many other personal things.
But Ive had that stuffed animal for a very long time, and even though he is super old, he is just there to remind me of my childhood.

    4. Im grateful for paper and pens. I love writing. Im working on all these books at the moment, as well as writing some songs, and soon I'm going to try to start writing sheet music for my songs :)
I love being able to write down my thoughts and feelings, because I hardly ever express my feelings to other people. And writing them down, helps me sort through them.

    5. Im grateful for math. JOKING, MATH IS THE WORST. Im grateful for another school subject though. Drama. I have always enjoyed acting, and even though I can get super freaked out at being in front of a lot of people, I still love acting. Im actually thinking about pursuing a career in the acting industry such as maybe a stunt double or something like a screenwriter, I don't know.

    6. Im grateful for my piano. I took lessons for three years, and then I stopped playing for about a year. Just because of stuff in life. When I started again, it was hard to get the hang of it, but Ive been able to teach myself how to play songs again. Whenever I play the piano, it helps me get rid of stress and anxiety, and I just focus on the music.

    7. Im grateful for my niece Olivia. She isn't even two years old, but she is so smart. She knows so many words and what they mean, and she is hilarious. She already kind of has an independent attitude, and if she wants something, she doesn't stop until she gets it. She has the prettiest blue eyes, and already super long blondish hair. And if you ask for a kiss, she will go over to you, and plant a huge kiss on you, and make this kissing sound. Its so adorable!

    8. Im grateful for my nephew Justin. He is about three weeks younger then my niece Olivia. He is kinda shy and gets fussy a lot, but he is still the cutest. Even though he hardly ever speaks any words, he seems to understand everything everyone is saying. He loves to go outside, and he has a huge obsession with soccer balls and basketballs. If he sees one he freaks out, and picks it up and chucks it. He has to cutest laugh :)

    9. Im grateful that gratitude month is over. It was a cool experience, and it made me realize that I shouldn't take for granted what I have, but at the same time, I just hate homework. SO YAY, IM DONE!

I like how you introduced your number 5, quite humorous. However, I also like your first bite which concerns with our eyes.Having horrible eyesight is far better than having no eyesight at all because you can still see colors (as you said,) you can see your family (even if it be just an outline,) and you can see the light that reflects and is found on this earth. Though we may lose our sense of sight, God has compensated it with taste, touch, smell, and hearing, which each work individually to create a unity in bearing witness that the outside world is truly good. So we can still enjoy life, even without our sight because we have other senses that technically doing the same job in 'seeing the good in the world.'

You're niece and nephew sound so cute! It is honestly such a huge blessing to have little kids in our lives. They teach us about how to loosen up and have fun! I have a toddler sister and baby brother, and my sister, Mercy, teaches me so much about how to just make messes and have fun. I'm also grateful for the responsibility side of it too. That having these little siblings in my life is preparing me for motherhood.

    #1 CAPTAIN AMERICA
Okay, yes, he may be attractive but I just love his soul! Not the actor but the image of Cap. and what he does and gives of himself... Maybe it is because I think of him as someone like Christ. I just can't get over him and the series. #Capisbae

    #2 HAND WRITTEN LETTERS
Yassss! When I lived in New York KyAnne and I would always write letters to each other. I collect every single had written letter in a box labeled 'mail' nothing special. But it's full of the heart warming thoughts and conversations between my friends, teachers, loved ones, and I. #justwrite'em

    #3 DOUBLE CHINS
Them Davis kids, Aubrey, Katie, and Maddie can pull some wicked double chins. Let me introduce my double chin named Aaron. He is very dear and close to my heart. Being able to do such a great talent as this is just so great. They always make me laugh and I love to laugh... So you get the gist. #themdoublechins

    #4 ORANGE HAIR-BUDDIES
As most of you saw my video with my Ash-Squash, I wanted to reiterate my love for him and our orange hair. Our hair is a unique attribute to our appearance and personality. I've gotten used to soulless and carrot head but I don't mind anymore and it's become more a compliment than mean thing. #orangeheadbuds

    #5 HASMA HANDS
I have a couple Hasma hand necklaces that I like to wear. They symbolize the Hand of God and his peace. It's also a Jewish symbol, I think. Anyway, my Dad had one that we always would trade off and wear. Then one fateful day I lost it and it was so sad and I cried and cried and didn't know what to do with my life and ever since I've always longed for another bonding Hasma Hand such as that one. Then, recently I cleaned out my old boxes and found these two. #lifefulfilled

    #6 MY DAD'S JOB
Recently my Dad lost his job at the AF hospital by Timpanogos Temple. It was weird to take that in as the words and thoughts were so unfamiliar. But we as a family have gotten used to just having Dad around for ourselves. Now don't get me wrong it's a bit hard at times but having our Dad at home more often is so fulfilling. Dad loves to help people and serve others, that's why he became an ER doctor with 13+ years of medical learning, and with him home we can do more of that as a family. #hope

    #7 GRAVITY FALLS
I have no words to describe my want to have a twin brother now. Hawken is now and forever will be my twin. Also, I'm jelly of Tony and Tiny. But the consistency, secrets, codes, characters, and everything about this show is amazing. I really love it and no I am not overly obsessed with it... Mostly. #mabelismyspiritanimal

    #8 MY POSITION AS S.B. V.P
Guys! I'm really nervous but so so excited to be on student council and make this year at Liahona super fun!! Going up against Gabe and Catherine was so great and I thought I had no chance against those two brilliant humans. To you two, you guys were absolutely amazing and I'm so glad I got to run against you and now be on S.B.C. with you guys! Let's work together as the Liahona Family to make this year the best! #WarriorsUnite

    #9 SECRET PASSAGES
Yasssss! My parents are the creators of our magnificent home. Also consisting of: a romper room, a foam pit, a rockwall, a slide, a stage, an intercom system, a stream, and a billion little secret passages. With these exquisite areas the secret book cases and hidden walls are the kids' area fun and entertainment of so many hours. We have such a great time playing and enjoying our family centered house. #hiden'seektothemax

    10. Nice work girl friend! Number 3 surprised me because I hate my double chin. I never thought I could be grateful for something that makes me look so hideous (what am I talking about? that never happens to me), but here you have found the light and happiness in every aspect of the human life. Thanks for teaching me that I can be grateful for the one thing that is keeping me from getting a girlfriend ;) hahaha! All sarcasm aside, you did really well.

  5. I’m taking an idea from Caleigh so here’s a dedication to my friends. I'm only doing six because I have other things I wanted to write about seeing as this is the last week. (please note that I have like a million kagillion friends and only so many bites so I can’t really choose so yeah.)

    1. Arianna Nelson!!!!! She is my spirit animal. She is one person that I can really be myself around, in other words Ari and I do weird things together and insult each other a lot. I love how sarcastic and rude she is, in an endearing way of course.

    2. Caleigh Kerr!!! Caleigh has been my cousin for as long as I’ve been alive... I mean friend! She has been my friend for as long as I have been alive. I love thinking back to all of my old memories with her, playing with our stuffed toys and having an all around good time. She is so creative and spunky and fun, I love her orange hair and have always been jealous of it, no matter how much I make fun of her for being a redhead.

    3. Joleah Long!!! I love talking with her and hanging out with her and she is amazingly talented and I am blessed to have her as a friend. She is so beautiful and awesome and stylish and sassy! I love her laugh, and I love rehearsing with her! Rafiki=Joleah they are one.

    4. Jordan Bennion. No words needed, he is my best friend.

    5. Maddie Barkdull! I love this girl she is amazing! I love laughing with her, and we always get hyper during math, (sorry Sis. Durphy) and it’s really fun. I love Maddie’s hugs and how hyper and fun and awkward she always is. She is the life of the party! So talented! So amazing! Love you to death Maddie!

    6. Tony Madsen! When describing him to a friend who does not go to liahona I said, “You cannot just say ‘Hi’ to Tony in passing, it is impossible. You just can’t, because making small talk with this kid is impossible, anything you say to him will immediately get a witty comeback!” This is truth, he is always so funny and fun to talk to. He is my favorite person ever. Fight the man Tony, Fight the man.

    7. I can’t pick a seventh person because I have like a million more people and I can’t just pick one and it’s so overwhelming and I’d just like to say that I am grateful for all of my friends at liahona, but then again, I’ve already written about this. So instead, I am grateful for liahona. I am grateful for all the amazing people there and all the awesome teachers and Brother DeGraff and the whole environment. I am so grateful that I am blessed enough to go to this school.

    8. My Grandma Jo is the perfect example of Christlike love. I have never heard her yell or get mad, when you do something wrong she gently corrects you and helps you do better. She is very smart and she loves to instruct and teach, always eager to tell an interesting story or teach me a new word or concept. She makes delicious food and I love playing cards or word games with her. Through all of her challenges she remains sweet and loving, always offering a kind word of encouragement or at least a waffle. I love my Grandma Betty Jo.

    9. I'm thankful for fun. Being goofy and silly and weird. Skipping down hallways with linked arms, speaking in outrageous Scottish accents, sitting on beds and having hissing cat contests, arguing with myself when doing homework, proposing to myself, rolling down wet hills in the dark, singing at the top of my lungs, putting on plays with the trampoline as a stage, being dryads and climbing trees, dressing up, getting down, jumping into foam pits, running all around, splashing with water, eating cookie dough, watching a movie and obsessing over the cute boys, creating marshmallow and granm cracker cremebrulee, talking with helium, laughing until your stomach hurts. Now that's fun.

    22. Life is too short to simply put off. I for one suffer from a disease called ‘procrastination’ which is when you prioritize things that really should be the last item on your list. Though we may all see this life as being only a blip in time when an understanding of the vastness of the Plan has been learned, I am thankful for that amount of time, no matter how small, that God has given to me; a time given so that I may prove to Him that I can follow his guidance though I be in a fallen state. I thank God for the trust he has in me with this precious time to make those righteous decisions that will lead me back to Him.

    23. Moses 7:28-40. This scripture has answered a question that I had asked myself for a very long time, it being how God could love us, beings born from the dust when he himself is far superior in power and knowledge. I have not space to put it in this post, so I can only ask that you would look it up on the Gospel Library and read it to know what I speak of. But in short, I am thankful for the scriptures, the words of God, and the principles that have been written among its numbered pages that have truly been meant for our times.

    24. Siblings of various ages are always surrounding, watching, and being an example to me. My elder brother just completed serving a mission recently and also received his Eagle. A word of advice to those who have not older siblings: it is much easier to follow the footsteps of life when another has already made the prints in the sand for you. Our siblings or those who have had an influence in our lives have treaded the path we are now following. Even Christ, our brother, has walked this road of mortality before us. But since he has already lived his life, he no longer walks in front of us, but beside us, helping us with each renewed step we take for our lives.

    25. I am thankful for those good people that are found in this world who are not of our faith, those people who are charitable, clean, and full of service. They do these things not because their religion tells them to, but because they feel it is right and is what must be done. People all over the world are God-fearing and loving to others when they have no real reason to do so, only what their conscience tells them. They are what make the world more unified and happy among the trials of life.

    26. This bite was derived from Rebekah Marble’s post on the first week of Gratitude Month. Due to its importance to me, I feel it is something that I need to mention. I too am grateful for those blue days when things don’t turn out the way I had planned. In the scriptures, we see that whenever God blessed any people, he was mostly, if not always thanked with wickedness because he had taken away their hardships, and it was only until those hardships returned that the people then began remembering Him. Those blue days are what renew our spirits in praying for guidance and comfort. It is when we are in unpleasant positions that we look for a source to ease our burdens. Let us not forget when we are blessed who gave us those comforts and why we were given them.

    27. When I was young, I thought the only time someone could be perfect was when they were baptized. Having that said, I use to envy those who were born into the church later on in life, for the older you are, the less time you have in mortality, and so, a greater chance of staying perfect until you die. But now that I have grown, I have come to understand that the sacrament does the same thing, just in a different way. The sacrament helps to keep our testimony of Christ alive and thriving. It gives you a moment to think about the love and sacrifices Christ has made for you. It helps you to have the perfect attitude towards striving to be perfect.

    28. I’ve had my share of worldliness, probably even more so than others. Every spare moment that I had was put into doing that which was worldly, non-productive, and idle. But ever since this past conference, ever since I heard the voice of the prophets, I was impressed to stop wasting my time and to do something useful with it. This was not the first time I had watched General Conference, yea, much more than that. But I suppose it only had an impression upon me at this time because I had put in my heart a desire to change. Since the time I have stopped, my thoughts are clean, my actions pure, and my mindset is based on achieving perfection.

    29. The spirit brings such wanting comfort that it leaves me wishing that I had it. When there is nowhere else to go, nowhere else to run to, it is always God who has been with us who brings us the most joy in our life. In following his promptings through the spirit, we can find comfort and share it with those who are comfortless. He is all-knowing, and knows what we need to be told in order to continue fighting.

    30. I am so grateful that I have come to rest at Liahona. I am thankful for the way Br. DeGraff has taught me to love the Muslims; taught me truths that never would have been mentioned in any other school. I am thankful for Sister Jackson’s cheerful but firm disposition in having fun while being serious at the same time. Liahona has definitely left an impression on me of hope for a happy future full of truth, knowledge, and good Agency. I honestly don’t know what I would know, what I would have been taught, or what I would have become had I not joined this inspired school.

I have 2 favorite parts from your super post. The first is from post 24 when you said, "...it is much easier to follow the footsteps of life when another has already made the prints in the sand for you. " And the second is from post 28 when you said, "Since the time I have stopped, my thoughts are clean, my actions pure, and my mindset is based on achieving perfection." I like these comments because they are about looking at the world in a different way that is set to help you, as you said, achieve perfection. Great job.

For #23 I decided I would look up Moses 7:28-40 since my phone was next to me. I thought it very interesting in verse 31 that Enoch gave the principles that Zion must be built on: Peace, justice, truth, and mercy. How interesting that the world is growing further away from these basic truths, but that the Church is coming closer and closer together because of these. I can't wait for the day when the world will live with those truths.
Also, thanks for adding onto my blue days post. :)

      Delete
    3. When the World lives with those truths, the World will cease to exist and will become the Throne of God.
T'was your insight that allowed me to add onto your post though. So really, it should be me thanking you for writing it. But you are welcome for that anyway.

    1. I am thankful for computers. It is such an amazing thing that we can share the gospel, connect to people from thousands of miles away, waste hours of time, put our thoughts into a digital thing, and print it out. There is so much that we do with computers, and they are such a great tool to be productive. Although they can be destructive, they are so helpful that it most certainly worth it. After all, how could I send in this gratitude bit with ease without a computer?
    2. I am grateful for my college friends. It’s really hard when they are gone, and I know that they love the place that they live. They aren’t ever going to be totally “there” with me, but I’m so glad they love it. Being away from them helps me appreciate how much they care for me and love me. They have such interesting and good experiences that it makes me excited.
    3. I am grateful for my family. I am grateful for the love that we have for each other. I am grateful that we learn together and that we love to be together. I am grateful for the reminders that we are not perfect, and because of that we must learn to be happy with one another. I am thankful for Dad who supports and protects. I am thankful for Mom the confidant and comforter. I’m thankful for Sam the goof and tender one. I am thankful for Bethany the fun and happy one. I ‘m thankful for Sarah the one who helps us to be taught patience and love. I’m thankful for Mercy and the toddler that she is, giggling and getting into trouble. I’m thankful for Moroni and the joys he brings learning to do things, and the long anticipated first laugh that will surely come someday. I’m grateful for my other brothers and sisters who are in heaven. They help me to be better so I can live with them.
    4. I am grateful for happiness and for the opportunities that I have to lift others up. I’m thankful that I can make that choice. That if I really wanted, I could simply choose to be happy and remain so. I am grateful that I can choose that, and have a good influence on others because of it.
    5. That leads me to the Holy Ghost, which I am most grateful for. The Holy Ghost tells me the best opportunities to bring joy to someone’s life. He protects me emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. He comforts me, helps bring things to my remembrance, and He warns me of dangers. He does much more and I’m so thankful for the good influence He has on me.
    6. I am thankful for a clean room. Studies have shown that clean rooms affect your productivity, and I have definitely seen the effects of this. I’m so grateful that when I choose to have that clean lifestyle I see results. I’m so happy when I clean my room. The Spirit definitely can work more effectively when I have a clean room and attitude.
    7. I am grateful for my parents and the special love they have for me. They choose to get to know me, and they love me so much. They are not harsh, and they love each other. They show this in so many ways that I never doubt about my parents. They are my inspiration to be better, along with Christ. They are the example that I have in my life to base my future family on. I want to marry a man that has the same standards and love that my dad has.
    8. I am grateful instruments. I’m not an amazing musician or anything, but I play piano and I sing. I love to do both of these things, and I love that I have a natural ability and inclination towards them. I love that my parents have continued to keep me in piano, sometimes against my wishes. I’m grateful for the opportunities that I have to use these in relation to the gospel.
    9. I am grateful for Christ. I am grateful for the love He has for me. I am grateful for the example he has set for me. I am grateful for all that He is, all that He has done, and all that He will do for me. I am grateful for the Light that he brought into my world. I’m thankful for the sacrifice that He made for me. My sins and sorrows are no more because of Him, and I can live with Him and My Father in Heaven if I choose to follow Him.

It saddens me to know that God blesses us with things that are so productive, namely computers, but then Satan can turn it into a thing of destruction. Computers are a great way to "share the gospel, connect to people from thousands of miles away, waste hours of time, put our thoughts into a digital thing, and print it out" (Rebekah Marble,) but because Satan takes advantage of it and controls the hearts of some men, it has turned into a thing as bad as good. The good thing is that we do have the Holy Ghost which "leads...protects... and warns [us] of danger." Nothing can spoil God's plan, which is why whatever he gives us will always be a blessing, no matter what Satan has done with it.

    1. I love music. When I was little I used to sing all the time. I would sing really loud in sacrament meeting. Luckily, I was on tune most of the time. Music makes me feel happy.
    2. Paper is important to me. Without paper my schoolwork would be very hard to do. Paper is also very useful when I write to my brother on his mission.
    3. I am grateful for my TV because without my TV I would be bored. I like to do other things but sometimes I just want to sit and relax. My favorite show is The Flash.
    4. I am grateful for my grandma’s and grandpa. I get to go visit them for Thanksgiving. My Grandma and Grandpa Hicken live on a farm. My Grandma Dustin lives in a small town called Wellington. I love all of them.
    5. I love popcorn because it is buttery and salty. Popcorn is also easy for me to make. I stick it in the microwave, push a button and POP! It is so good.
    6. I am grateful for my bike. After I watch a couple of TV shows I go ride my bike so I don’t get fat. My mom makes me wear my helmet which I guess is a good thing because I need my head. I love the freedom I feel when I ride my bike.
    7. I am grateful for church. I get to learn about Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and how to fulfill my priesthood duties. I also get to see some of my friends at church.
    8. Flowers are pretty. I have some beautiful flowers on my kitchen table right now because my dad surprised my mom last week with some pretty flowers. I love to see all the flowers in bloom in the summer.
    9. My favorite drink is milk. Milk is the best when it is super cold. Before my brother, Cameron left on his mission he was drinking about 8 gallons of milk a week. That’s a lot of milk. I don’t drink 8 gallons a week but I drink a lot.

  11. Week 4

    Hannah S. (3rd Period) (DE)

    Day 22:
I'm thankful for the gospel. Life is hard enough to get through with instructions. Just imagine how much harder life would be without them.

    Day 23:
I'm thankful for Thanksgiving otherwise known as the giving of thanks. Contrary to popular belief, Thanksgiving is not just about the food. Thanksgiving is not just an excuse for another holiday. What Thanksgiving is is a time to stop. It's a time to slow down and think. What am I grateful for? What should I be grateful for? Thanksgiving is a holiday of reflection. A time to be thankful for what you have and a time be giving to those who don't.

    Day 24:
I'm thankful for poetry. The lack of expression I can't get out through speech, I get out through writing. Poetry is the higher law of the ten commandments. It's a higher standard for more then useless slang. It's the more meaningful way to tell someone I love you. It's better then a heart emoji text. It's better then a wave of a hello or a goodbye. Poetry is better then all of this. Poetry is the secret meaning behind life because it shows you how to stretch yourself to say things more eloquently then you've ever said them before. Poetry is the language of God, and so should be the language of our writing.

    Day 25:
I'm thankful for cloudy days because it reminds me how thankful I am for the sunny ones.

    Day 26:
I'm thankful for secret service. The act of love shown, and praise hidden. The art of making someones day without letting them know how it was made. The small accomplishments of yours, become the huge accomplishments of another. The feeling of silent recognition without a thank you.

    Day 27:
I appreciate the fact that we don't have to compare ourselves to anyone but ourselves. Someones life may be significantly harder by the means of the world, but yours is significantly harder in regards to you. The weight of responsibility to someone juggling AP classes nonstop can be the same as you juggling your regular classes. Someones happiest moment can be your saddest day. Someones daydream can be your nightmare. Everyone is made different, so don't analyze. Find perspective. Accept that you are not the same as them.

    Day 28:
I am thankful for the process of sleeping in. No alarms set, no guidelines to follow. Don't go get dressed, there's no seminary tomorrow. Ambitions lessened, not thrown in the trash. School is suspended, but will be back in days to follow. Life is changed, but not for long, 'cause next week all of this relaxing will be gone.

    Day 29:
Headphones. The act of being physically in a moment, while being mentally detached from it. Being in your own world, while living in this one. Dancing to the beat of your own drum, while no one around hears the beat. Having insight being fed into your ears without your surrounding acknowledging the fact. A time to yourself, without actually being alone.

    Day 30:
The 1st amendment. The freedom of speech. I can be grateful for God without getting kneed. I can say what I want, no repercussions necessary. I can speak my mind without having it crushed. Now, we have to speak to save this right before we're not allowed say so anymore.

These are all very well put, but the bite that had the biggest impression upon me was Day 23. Thanksgiving is a day of reflection. It isn't about the food, the acquired free-time, or even the fact that it was the day the pilgrims feasted with the Indians. It expands far more than a day, but should reach throughout our entire life-times, past and present; it could even reach into the future about what we are hoping to achieve. We shouldn't give thanks to those things that any other could be thankful for, for each of our lives are unique and shouldn't have the exact bits of gratitude. It should be those things that have been meaningful and have stood out to us in the course of our lives, those detailed things.

    Super post Week 4

1.My house/home - I am grateful for my home, we all need a home to have a great life. It protects us from the elements and from the sickness. A home is where your heart is. A house is just the physical side of a home. My Dad or Mom or both work hard to get a house to keep us safe. I see a homeless person almost every day, and I feel really bad for them. In conclusion I am so grateful that I have a great house and home.
2.My piano - Im grateful for my piano. Just because of stuff in life is why I have a piano, and because I got it for my birthday a couple years ago When I started, it was hard to get the hang of it, but I’ve been trying to teach myself how to play songs. Whenever I play the piano, it helps me get rid of stress and anxiety when I just focus on the music.
3.Christmas time - I’m grateful for Christmas time. I just love the holiday season. I love Christmas music, and Christmas clothes. I love decorating my house, and the tree. Its awesome to get present. I know that sounds a little shallow, but I can guarantee that everyone loves getting presents more than giving them. I also like giving presents. Also I get a Christmas break, everything about Christmas is awesome!
4.BATMAN!!! Okay, yes, he may be dark and mysterious but I just love what he does! Not the actor but the image of Batman. And what he does and gives of himself... Maybe it is because I think of him as someone like Christ. I just can't get over his series and the movies he is just the best.
5.I am grateful for my grandmas and grandpa. I get to go visit them for Thanksgiving. My Grandma and Grandpa Rogers live in Georgia. My other grandma and grandpa lives in a small town called Greendale IN. I love all of them
6.I am grateful for happiness and for the opportunities that I have to lift others up. I’m thankful that I can make that choice. That if I really wanted, I could simply choose to be happy and remain so. I am grateful that I can choose that, and have a good influence on others because of it

"I'm thankful that I can make that choice." Agency truly is a wonderful thing that has been bestowed upon us, giving us the ability to choose whether we want to be happy or miserable. God wants us to be happy, but can't force us because then we would not experience for ourselves the happiness or grief that would be brought upon us. We can live a life full of joy, comfort, and peace, but sometimes we are blinded by what appears to be pleasure when it really is sadness. We have that choice, and only we can make it.

I'm grateful for my ancestors who risked their lives to come to Utah. I am so grateful for their sacrifice of leaving their homes, friends, and families. I'm grateful that they took the time to write in their journals so I can learn about them and have my faith strengthen from their testimonies.

    3.
I'm grateful for clothes. I love clothes so much! I love how they can show your personality interests. I love shopping for clothes even if it's for other people. I'm especially grateful for warm clothes as it has been progressively getting colder.

    4.
I'm grateful for my grandma who is such a great example to me of having fait through trials. My grandma has had so many trials in her life, yet she is one of the happiest most faithful woman I have ever met. I love being around her and listening to the things she has to teach me.

    5.
I'm grateful for thanksgiving break. Having a break from school is so nice it gives me a chance to catch up on my homework, and gives me more time to spend with my family and friends.

    6.
I'm grateful for all my cousins. I don't get to see my cousins often but I love visiting them! I am older than all my cousins so I love babysitting them and being an example to them.

    7.
I'm grateful for my older brother. He was my best friend when we were little and is still always
there for me when I need him. My brother has taught me the importance of setting goals and accomplishing them.

    8.
I'm grateful for the temple. I live in walking distance from a temple and sadly don't always realize what a blessing that is. I'm so grateful for the peace and comfort I find in the temple, no matter what is going on in my life I can find peace in the temple.

    9.
I'm grateful for thanksgiving. it gives me the opportunity to be with my whole family which doesn't happen very often. I'm also grateful that thanksgiving helps me remember to be grateful and thank God for everything he has given me.

Life is good when you have those breaks to cool you down and put life to a halt. Why else would it be called a break if no to 'brake' your life-drive and allow you to rest your eyes and foot for a while. When you are stopped, you can let others into the car and have fun with them while you wait for life to continue. A rested mind is much more attentive to learning when compared to a mind that has become drowned in stress and drowsiness.

    1. I’m grateful for holidays. They give us breaks from everyday life. Holidays are times to celebrate and to be with family and friends. I am truly grateful that we are allowed to celebrate holidays. My favorite holiday is Christmas/New year.
    2. I am grateful for the Young Men program. The church has created an amazing program that gives young men the chance to interact and get to know each other. I have met great friends in the Young men program. It is a great way to get a boy prepared to go on a mission.
    3. I’m grateful that I have agency. I am grateful that I can choose for myself. I choose wrong sometimes and learn from my mistakes. Agency is the best way to go through existence. I am everlastingly grateful to Heavenly Father for giving us this gift.
    4. This Thanksgiving, I am especially grateful for online recipe websites. I really enjoy helping my Mom cook for our thanksgiving meal. So far, baking pies is my specialty.(I also really enjoy eating my work)
    5. I am grateful that I can use the amazing technology that I do. Apple is my favorite company but I also like Samsung and Windows. They are all so useful and they make life a lot easier. Internet is an amazing tool that can help so many lives. I also wouldn’t be able to watch Liahona without it, so I really value this great technology.
    6. I am grateful for trampolines. I like doing tricks on them. Me and my little brother will often play mini-soccer on our trampoline. Trampolines are pretty cool. I like watching people do cool tricks on them.
    7. I really like being able to live in a nice house. Some people have to live in “dumps” because they can’t afford better homes. I personally know people who don’t live in nice homes or in good neighborhoods.
    8. Going back to the last one, I really like having nice neighbors. They are always there if you need tools, a bike, or cookies…Just kidding. Neighbors are good to have and they can and will make an impact on your life.
    9. Best for last…The Piano Guys. They are so amazing! I really like listening to their inspirational music. I truly believe that they are inspired in their work. One of my favorite songs from them is their ”Amazing Grace/ Fight song” combo.

It is good that you learn from your mistakes, otherwise, you will become susceptible to even more hardship, pain, grief and sin. Agency is a tool used by both the weak and strong to become stronger, but it could also go the other way if it is not checked. If you have any defense that would suggest you are weak and failing, then Satan and his minions will already begin climbing. If you still do nothing about it, then the wall will crumble and Satan will only have to simply walk into your home, seize you, and leave you in bonds that you cannot break. That is why it is easier to stop at the very beginning. The less you fail, the more your walls are and the easier it is to repair them. Otherwise you have to start from the ground up, and if you are doing it alone, you will always be chased away from Satan and his minions. You need others to protect you as you are establishing a strong foundation that will never fall again. Know this, if you have a thousand walls with a million blocks and only one of those blocks have fallen, then Satan has already conquered you unless you stop up that hole, for that opening will be exploited and used for far more destructive means.

    Last gratitude post:
1-I'm grateful for the morning sky. The sun shines into my room and wakes me up on the weekends (or holidays!). I love going outside in the mornings when the birds are chirping and the sky is bright blue. It's really nice and cool.

2-I love the evening sky. There are sometimes sunsets and we have the perfect hill to sit on and watch them. It's also the perfect time of day to go for a walk or climb a tree or just be outside!

3-The night sky. I like it because it's so dark, big and beautiful. I like sleeping outside with my siblings because then we can just lay and watch for shooting stars or look for shapes made of stars. It's really fun!

4-I think that whoever invented Christmas lights was a genius (and are also very rich). Christmas lights are so pretty. They make houses look a lot more cheerful. It's really cool to drive around and see all the different kinds and colors there are. If I get my way my future house will be covered in them!

5-I am grateful for the two Christmas trees that are going to be at my house. We already have one up and decorated and we are going to get the other one tomorrow. Their names are Stratford and Warren. It's really fun to decorate them and smell the pine. I like coming into my house and seeing them standing there.

6-Fridays are my favorite day of the week. For one thing we have an awesome school that lets us have Friday's off. For another thing on Friday night there is usually a party or friends to hang out with so it is a really nice day.

7-I'm grateful for fuzzy socks. They are nice to walk in or snuggle up in front of the fire. I can't stand wearing normal socks to bed but for some reason I can tollerate fuzzy ones when my feet are really cold so I really like them!

8-I am grateful for good health. I am glad that I am not sick right now because it seems like everyone else is. I am glad I can do what I want without having sickness in the way. (I probably just jinxed myself!). It's really nice not to be sick!

9-I am grateful for a clean house. I love it when I come home and the house or my room is clean. I can just lay on my bed for a while and do nothing. Those kind of days are awesome!

The night sky is so exquisite. It is so peaceful and open to whatever you gaze upon. The stars are bright and radiant enough to be able to show the beauty that they each contain. The moon gives enough light so that you can see the world around you. Whenever I look up into the sky, it reminds me of all the camp outs I have been to for Boy Scouts, all the times I have watched the stars twinkle through their black cloth. I can fall asleep directly beneath its wonderful magnificence.

I am grateful for time. If you really think about it it is what can help us through a lot of things. However I feel too much time can cause procrastination and idling minds.
So I am grateful for time in two ways. One, for the opportunity to be grateful for something that may not seem like a blessing but is. Two, to have the TIME to be able to do... anything.

    2.
One time I went to school, thinking it would be a regular day. When my English Teacher didn't show up to school I realized I had taken her for granted. We later learned that she would not be teaching anymore and most of us felt like a chunk of your lives disappeared. Our new English teacher ( Sis, Jackson) took some getting used to, she did tests differently and frankly just taught differently. It took some adjusting to get used to Sis, Jackson. And now she is a great friend! I am grateful for adjusting. At some point or another we will have to adjust to something in our lives, that thing may be happy, sad, unwanted or down right unfair. But that's all part of the fun and don't take you blessings for granted.

    3.
I am grateful for forgiveness. Have you ever felt like a rug or floor mat that somebody else is using? I have, it sucks, it doesn't feel good. In fact it makes me want to scream or hit something. Now I know where you think I am going with this, you think that I think it's always the other persons fault and it's their job to apologize. But often times I found that if you apologize to the person wrongs will be righted. And you tend to become united. That's why I cherish forgiveness, because what follows is an extraordinary thing.

    4.
I am grateful for Trev. One of my best best friends. I am grateful for this piece of awesomeness that was sliced right out of Chuck Norris's grandma's secret recipe Apple Awesome pie, it's name is Trev. Few people have glimpsed an eclipse of a small shadow of a small crum from this pie. However Trev Davis is a hole dang slice out of this pie! Plus he's always around to joke with and stuff and hang out with. But dang son, he's a hole slice of grandma's pie! And also Trev Davis is a babe so it's kind of hard not to always be with him.

I am grateful for the battle Tours.
The battle of Tours is very special to me personally. Without it there either wouldn't be an America or America would be an Islamic country. In other words the Restoration of our church wouldn't have happened as well as the Crusades.

I i'm grateful for dishwashers. So sure you can wash dishes by hand, and that tends to happen anyway. But can you imagine your life without your dishwasher? Over the years washing dishes by hand has become increasingly easier. However the dishwasher never ceases to trump what hands can do. No matter what it is. Got dumped? Dishwasher. Out of bacon? Dishwasher. Broke your foot? Dishwasher. Dishwasher is always the answer. Dishwasher never ceases to help.

I am grateful for bacon. I'm grateful for bacon when I come home after school and have something to snack on. I'm grateful for bacon because it provides the perfect breakfast no matter what. I am grateful for bacon because we are engaged, You reader are invited.

I am grateful for Ginger Ale. Ginger Ale has got to be my favorite drink.
This drink is a miracle straight from heaven and what a blessing miracles are. I had like 3-4 bottles of different kinds of Ginger Ale on Thanksgiving. Nearly threw up that day... But at least what I nearly hurled was Ginger Ale!

I am grateful for being sore. Not emotionally or spiritually but rather physically. Right now I'm going through a lot of pain. I don't know why or how, all I know is that it hurts really bad. Every time I even the slightest movement it hurts tremendously. I am grateful for this blessing of being sore. Though it may not seem like it is a blessing it is a God given feeling that gives us the ability to find pity in our hearts.

I too am grateful for pain, Hawken. If it were not so, we could die from a simple cut or from a broken bone. Recently, I had a very bad headache that forced me to go to sleep. When I awoke, everything was fine. If that pain had not told me that something was wrong, I would have gone about my day with that same mindset, that everything was okay, which would have led to far more dangerous problems. If we didn't feel pain, we could burn off our hand from the stove we are cooking on. With this sensation of feeling sore, we know that there is something wrong, and we can adjust ourselves until we know the problem has been rectified.

I'm so thankful for adjusting and the need for them. Without adjustments we wouldn't have trials. And we did come to this earth to learn from those trials. I"m so grateful for the opportunities that we have to welcome the unexpected and to make the best of it. Learning from unexpected experiences and choosing to be happy has been one of the most important things that I know. 2 Nephi 2:25 says, "Adam fell that men might be, and men are that they might have joy." If we are here to have trials, but we are also to have joy, should we not find joy in, and during, our trials?

2.I'm grateful for cars. They take/get me wherever I need to go. Cars keep me nice and warm during the cold winter. In summer it keeps me nice and cooled off.

    3. I'm grateful for modern day appliances. I'm grateful for the dishwasher so I don't have to hand wash all of the dishes. Ovens are another appliance I'm grateful for. It's nice that's it heats up all by itself instead of me having to get wood and make a fire to warm up food. Also, refrigerators are wonderful! They keep everything cold and frozen when needed.

    4. I'm grateful for indoor plumbing. It's so nice to have flushing water inside the house. I'm so glad that I don't have to go outside and have to use a outhouse, especially when it's a cold winters night.

    5. I'm grateful for my teachers. They use so much of their own time to teach and help me learn. I'm grateful for all of the many hours of schooling they went through to become teachers.

    6. I'm grateful for oxygen. Oxygen clears the mind and cleanses the cells and refreshes them. Without oxygen we would die.

    7. I'm grateful for sleep. Without sleep I would be very grumpy and I wouldn't be able to concentrate. Sleep rejuvinats my mind.

    8. I'm grateful for Dr.pepper. I get these terrible migraines, and the caffeine inside the soda helps me feel better when nothing else is helping. In those moments Dr.pepper is my best friend.

Without cars, it would take forever to get anywhere. A place that is only 30 min away would be 4-5 hours on horse and 1 day on foot. It helps us to get where we are going quicker. The thing about blessings such as cars is that it helps us to focus more on the important things than waste time with the unimportant. Cars are such a wonderful thing that has become a comfort to our lives.

1.I am so glad that I have a phone, with a phone I am able to communicate with my friends, and my family. If I ever have a question about anything I can just send a text right then, I don’t have to go to the persons house, I can just click a button and they will know that I have question for them.

    2. I am so grateful for the ability to have talents. Without talents there wouldn’t be as many things that make people different. We wouldn’t have something to help make us more unique

3.I am so grateful for pull up bars. I love doing pull ups, the feeling after you’ve done more then you ever though you could is amazing you feel so accomplished.

4.I love tape. I love taping everything back together. I love how people can make stuff with tape it is so fun to see everything people will do with tape.

5.I am so grateful for fire, I love sitting next to fire. The feeling of the heat directly on you feels amazing. I also love the look of fires; they are very pretty, the way the colors will spark up.

6.Everyone loves ice cream! I have never meant a person who doesn’t like ice cream. It is so yummy, and there are so many flavors it is impossible to pick your favorite

7.I do not like the sun very much, so I am so glad we have clouds that will provide us shade so we can hide form the crazy hot summer days.

    1. I am grateful for vacations. No matter what you are doing on a vacation, its got to be better that sitting in a room with a bunch of other kids listening to a lecture. I am thankful that I got to go to Disneyland for five days.

    2. I am grateful for a helping hand. No matter what you are doing, hard or easy, it is easier to do it with some one there to help you. I am thankful that those around me are willing to give me a helping hand when I do need it.

    3. I am thankful for fall colors. When I got back from vacation, I looked up at the mountain near my house and saw oranges, yellows and some shades of red. It was really nice to see those colors that look like a painting that no artist could capture.

    4. I am grateful for turkey. In September my dad got a special grill for his birthday. Instead of using propane to cook, it uses wood chips that make a lot of smoke to cook the food. When the smoke surrounds the turkey, it gives the turkey a really good flavor that you cant get with a normal propane grill.

    5. I am thankful to be able to shop. Not necessarily buy clothes, but to be able to purchase things that we want and things that we need very easily. When I need something I can usually tell my mom or dad and the next time they go to the store, they buy it for me.

    6. I am grateful for the ability to sleep in. After a long day or when you just want to relax, you can go to sleep and not wake up till 10 AM the next day. Not only is it relaxing or a great stress reliever, it can help clear your mind.

    7. I am grateful to be able to teach. I do enjoy teaching those around me and it is fun but I am grateful to teach those that are not members of the church or have fallen away from the church. Not necessarily teach them about the gospel but teaching them secular things and slowly try to teach the about the church.

    8. I am thankful for my neighborhood. I am thankful that I live in a good neighborhood and that I have friends in my neighborhood. My neighbors are always willing to help not only me but those who need help.

    9. I couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t make this last post about how grateful I am for all the people that have helped me over the last month. When I get help, I feel selfish and greedy. But after they help me, I realize that they made me life so much easier. And I receive that help in some ways by example. When my neighbors and friends help others, I see how they are being Christ-like and I feel that I need to follow in their example.

  20. week 4.

    1) My Family.
I love my family. I love my cousins and my aunts and uncles. I’m grateful for the role each and everyone of them has had in my life, and that I was born into the family I’m in.

    2) My Job.
I’m grateful for the opportunity and ability I have to sustain myself with money that I earn. I’m grateful for the experience my job gives me, and that I can make it fun. I’m grateful for money, and for my job… mmmm money….

    3) My Hair.
yes.. I said it. I love my freaking hair. It’s glorious the things that I can do with it. To mold it into shapes unknown is a pastime greater than any other. I LOVE my hair. I’m not obsessed with myself. amen.

    4) My bro Sam.
This kid has been there for me through thick and through thin, through the mud, dirt, and grit of it all. His sense of humor is dope, and he’s always down to chil. I love him a lot, and he’s my number one bro.

    5) Food.
Dadgummit I love food. If there is one thing on this earth that I would kill for, it’s food. Well… anyone would kill for food… Anyways, I’m so grateful that my family has enough to support ourselves, and that we often times have enough to give to others. Food is great.

    6) the internet.
I’m grateful that I can communicate with all of my friends and family because of the internet.
It’s a luxury that many can’t afford, and I am grateful that I can. Also, how else would I binge watch entire seasons of every show if I didn’t have internet???

    7) my clootthhhessss.
I’m grateful that I can dress dope, and look fresh all the time. I’m glad that I can wear what I want and express myself through my style. A nice pair of boots, a tee shirt, and some flannel is always the way to go. I’m grateful for my clothes.

    8) Gratitude Month.
It is a lovely thing to reflect on your life and talk about what you’re grateful for. I am sure that I will be doing this all the way in the future. To dig deep and find something you love is a skill that I’ve found within myself during this past month. I love Gratitude month, and I love LIahona.

    9) My Phone.
Communication is key. I love being able to have two hour long phone calls, texting my bro all night, flirting with literally everyone I talk to, and also being able to talk to relatives who live far away. I love my phone, and I love that I have one.

Well, this is indeed the home stretch and I must say, I really do think that I’m going to miss writing these. To clarify that, I by no means enjoy the work and I don’t enjoy the actual process of writing these, but I do enjoy reading everyone else’s posts. And I know that when I’m done writing these everyone else will be done writing these.

So without further ado, the end of my gratitude posts are now yours.

    1. The first thing I would like to say I would like to say I’m grateful for is boredom. Now, not something that’s generally held in much esteem I grant you that, but when was the last time boredom got you to try something new? The way I see it, boredom is a catalyst for change and growth, even a sign that it’s time to grow.

    2. Something else to be grateful for is herbal tea. I say this because I’ve been sick for the last two weeks (yes, including all of Thanksgiving break) and without mint and the throat-coat stuff that I’ve been drinking, I wouldn’t have gotten done any of the work that I needed to get done this last week. So yeah, great stuff…go plant some mint in your backyard.

    3. So I thought of this one as I was reading the chat for week 12 day 1 (yes, that’s how little of a life I have that I actually pay attention to that sort of thing) when I saw that Daniel had written, “Flyingpotato12.” I thought to myself, “Where would the world be without the potato?” and the other little voice in my head said, “A sad place indeed my friend, a sad place indeed.” So I would like to thank everyone in Idaho for growing my spuds. Thank you.

    4. CHRISTMAS BREAK! I am so fried already! When Christmas break rolls around, I’m sleeping through it until 2nd semester! I know that everyone reading this knows what I’m talking about. Not only is the relief given by the season worthy of note, but the spirit of the holidays is so refreshing.
    5. I’m grateful for carbon. After all, without it you would be dead! Not only that, but if you can even fathom all of the things that carbon makes up, you realize that even if silica is the most common element on earth, carbon is by far the most important and diverse. Not to mention it makes diamonds…which make people rich…those are carbon too.0_0

    6. I am grateful for turkeys. As stupid and clueless as the birds are, they make up for it in sheer savor. Next to chickens they are the best meat-animal in existence. Plus, if it weren’t for them Thanksgiving just wouldn’t be Thanksgiving anymore.

    7. The last thing I’m ever going to get the chance to tell you all that I’m grateful for…is…the ability to cook. Little bit of a letdown, right? Well, it means I can cook whatever the heck I want to eat at college, on my mission, on vacation…wherever and whenever I am, I will be well fed. I have my mother to thank in large part for that ability.

So that’s it. These past 28 paragraphs have detailed the things for which I am most grateful. Everyone have a safe rest of the semester!

    1. All of your points are very well put, but 1 is amazing. I totally agree with you. That is the problem with the fast-paced world we now live in. Nearly everything we interact with, including technology, gives us instant gratification. Boredom is becoming more and more, well, boring! I am glad someone else feels that way! :)

  24. 1. I am grateful for this Gratitude Month challenge. It has stretched me to truly think WHY I am grateful for the things I listed. I learned something about being thankful: it is not sufficient to absentmindedly “say” you are grateful for something. I now look at gratitude in a different way and it has blessed my life to do so. Thank you, Sister Jackson!

    2. I am grateful for originality. I think about the great writers, composers, and artists of history. Each was given the same material in their field. All great writers started with a similar set pencils, paper, and a dictionary. Composers usually had access to a piano and a blank sheet of paper. Artists all began with an empty canvas and three primary colors. Isn’t it so wonderful that there is so much diversity all because each individual took his/her own spin on things?

    3. I am ever so grateful for mentors. The moment we take our first breath, we are set onto the sometimes rocky path of life. We each have talents and it is our duty to enhance and use them. We cannot do this alone. Although nobody can do anything for us, they can teach us how to use our talent because they have chosen a similar path. We should choose these people to help us in our lives because chances are, they have encountered some of the same rocks and ruts that we will come across.

    4. I am grateful for the priesthood. The day before Thanksgiving, there was a “Thanksgiving Service” at a local church near me. My mom believes that just because we know we are the only true church, doesn’t mean that we are better than anyone else, so we went. We got the opportunity to really see that there are other good people in the world who are legitimately kind and wanting to better the world. Although the sermon was good overall, we all noticed the lack of the depth that the priesthood brings. I realized how much I take for granted the influence of the wonderful priesthood power in my life.

    5. I am grateful for the Pilgrims and all who came before and after to kickstart our country. Over the course of this week, I have had the opportunity to learn, in depth, of the voyage of the Mayflower and the experiences of those brave men and women. As a child I learned that a group of men and women landed in America, all was well, they had a big dinner and lived happily ever after. That is far from the truth. They suffered more than we can hardly imagine, and they did it to prepare the way for the Restoration of the Gospel. We will all be forever indebted to them, but there is one way we can begin to pay them back: to not let anyone take away the freedoms that they worked so hard to provide.

    6. I am grateful for my sister. She is such a blessing in my life. We honestly get along quite well and we have so much fun together. We love sneaking into each other’s rooms across the hall and playing games or reading with a flashlight and a blanket over our heads. I cannot imagine life without her.

    7. I am grateful to be apart of the wonderful splendor of God’s creations. No detail goes unnoticed; no creation is just “okay.” It reminds me that I am not just a rough draft or an accident. I have a divine nature far greater than anything this world can give me. “I am a daughter of [my] Heavenly Father, who loves [me] and [I] love Him.”

    8. I am grateful for positivity. It brightens my day to come upon someone who changes my sometimes-negative attitude to positive. I am grateful for the Liahona family because every time I watch a class and see you wonderful people, I smile. You guys make me happy.

    9. As I was contemplating what to write about for my last hurrah with gratitude month, I realized how grateful I am for my life. As Brother DeGraff has taught, we each have 1 in 20,400,000 chances of being where we are today. That is not chance. I am truly grateful to have the opportunity to hasten the work of Salvation and prepare the world for the Second Coming of Christ.

And pennies, I never thought about them like that, but it's cool that you do! Anyways, nice job! This post was well done.

    1. I'm grateful for good health, even thought that isn't true all the time. I'm grateful for medicine and healthy food to keep us healthy. I'm grateful for being healthy enough to enjoy life.
    2. I'm grateful for good friends to have around. I have always had shyness issues and social issues. I can say that Liahona has really helped me overcome that. I'm so thankful for everyone at Liahona, and making it seem like we're a real family.
    3. I'm grateful for freedom of religion. I'm grateful to be able to believe, and think however I want. I'm glad to be able to practice my religion, and share my beliefs with others.
    4. I'm super grateful for weekends. After a hard week it's so nice to have a 3 day weekend to rest. I also love weekends, because I get to focus on my other hobbies like film, photography and music.
    5. I'm grateful for mistakes. If we make mistakes then we learn from them. We learn what the right thing to do is. We can solve other problems, by thinking back on a mistake and know what exactly to do.
    6. I'm extremely grateful for the ability to read. I don't know what I would do, if I weren't able to read. I wouldn't know where I was, or where I could go. I couldn't communicate through text. I'm grateful for being taught how to read, write, and communicate.
    7. I'm grateful for time. To know how much has past, and how much I have left. We always complain that we don't have enough time. But, we should be grateful to have any at all.
    8. I'm grateful for clean water. I'm grateful for where I live and the access to clean water. A lot of places in the work don't have a source to clean water, and it makes me so thankful for mine.
    9. I'm grateful for kindness of strangers. I love seeing people help each other. I love the smiles of people's faces, and their day just being made. I grateful for the simple things, like holding open a door, or a simple smile or hello. You never what's going on with people around you, and kindness to others is key.

    1. All of yours are fantastic. #7 caught my eye though, what you said about time is true. Time is precious and important and oft times it seems we have to little of it. And yet other times it seems we have to much of it. But the truth is time is too important to take for granted and to waste. The more we learn to better utilize our time the more we can accomplish in this life.

    22. Board Games bring people together in more ways than one; I enjoy playing them with my family. Card games are also fun. I love having a family to play them with.

    23. My desk is one of my most favorite places on earth; I feel as though that is where my brain and heart is located. I do some of my favorite things there such as: read, write, draw, paint, and make things. I feel at peace there.

    24. Sparkles remind me of God’s creations and workings throughout the universe. When I see sparkles I think of the beautiful scenic moments in nature. I see the wonderful in every soul. Last but not least they make being fabulous a tad easier.

    25. Christmas trees truly are amazing. They bring joy and bliss to my soul. The fanciful ornaments, the star up top, and the lights, oh it’s such a sight to behold.

    26. The book of Mormon is such a blessing to my life. I am able to learn of the times of old, study my Lord and Savior, and feel of his love and goodness. I feel a special closeness to my spirit, and to my Eternal Father in Heaven, I am exceedingly joyful to know of the truth

    27. I am grateful for my wonderful watermelon rubber band bracelet that my little sister made for me. It was made with love and it looks super cool. When I wear it I am reminded of my sister’s love for me, and how amazing she is. I am also reminded that watermelon is not in season.

    28. I am grateful for the stars. They light up my night and remind me of how I fit into the universe. They are nature’s sparkles.

    29. Spoons are a grand creation. I can eat soup, ice cream, pie, and most importantly cereal. Chopsticks are also really fun to use.

    30. At the bowling alley when the lights go off, and the music goes up, that's my time to part-y and by party I mean dance. Dancing is great; it’s my sister and I’s favorite past time.

    2. I am grateful for the Pendragon books. The Pendragon books are the best books I have ever read. They are grate, they have action, suspense, shockers, plot twists, and much much more.
    3. Have you ever read a book, their great. I am so thankful for books. What a great pass time and educational experience.
    4. Food is nice, it is vital to live. Imagine life with no food… not that great. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm… food.
    5. Gulp gulp gulp… ahhhhhhhhh. Nothing beat water am I right. Water is simply the best. Nothing else to say.
    6. Gratitude, I wouldn’t be writing this if it weren’t for gratitude. Gratitude is the best, it makes you humble and makes you feel good. I am grateful for gratitude.
    7. Have you ever played lacrosse, many of you haven’t. You should try it, it is so fun. Catching, running, shooting, and hitting.
    8. I love football more than I love lacrosse. Football is during the best time of year. I love playing football any time.

  30. 1. Light is a necessity. Without light we wouldn’t be able to make food, read, walk without running into something, see the beauty or even the dangers all around us, etc. We are not completely hopeless without light, but we need it in order to survive properly. And just as we need this life giving light, we need an eternal life giving Savior. Without Him we are nothing and we cannot reach our full potential. I am so grateful for light and reminder it is to me of my all loving and powerful Savior.
    2. Although scouts say they can do without them, I prefer to use them as much as possible. I’m so grateful for showers that clean me up after a long hard days of work. And even if I haven’t worked at all, I’m still grateful for them. I’m especially grateful for warm showers in the winter. If we didn’t have showers we would all be stinky, gross, people that would probably be likened to the Vikings and people during the dark ages. Some people might say, “What’s wrong with that?” EVERYTHING!!!!!! When we shower we clean off germs and this keeps the diseased population down. But especially on Sundays and when you go to church, you’re clean and presentable before the Lord. Wouldn’t that make you feel better?
    3. I am grateful for the knowledge I have that I can communicate to my Heavenly Father through prayer. To quote an Extra Smile joke from the New Era, and old grandma says, “Wireless communication is nothing. I’ve been praying for 75 years.” Isn’t that great? Through prayer we can ask for protection over ourselves and others and also ask and receive answers from an all knowing being who loves. If you ask me, that’s so much better than technology.
    4. I am grateful for the magic that snow brings to the winter season as well as the holiday season. Last year, we didn’t get any snow except for on Christmas and the Tuesday after that. I was raking leaves on Christmas Eve. My mom liked it, but I was severely disappointed. It didn’t feel like Christmas. I prayed so hard for snow. I prayed that if we didn’t get snow at any other time could we at least get snow on Christmas day. Voila!! The snow came and Christmas was very magical that year. I love snow!!!
    5. Plants help keep us alive. They provide fruits, vegetables, healing qualities, and they put oxygen back into the air. Plants are also big reason why this earth is so beautiful. They are the jungles, the African Serengeti’s, the vast wildflower fields, and the tropical beauty of the islands. I’m grateful for plants.

  31. 6. Do you want to know the secret for staying classy, fashionable and in style, and not pay tons of money? Well here is your answer my friends. Hand-me-downs!!!!! With hand-me-downs you get all the clothes, furniture, technology, and toys that were in style yesterday and are back in style today. And the best part is that you didn’t have to pay a single dime for it. Sometimes you find the best quality in a hand-me-down then you would in a brand new item from the all expensive store. I’m grateful for hand-me-downs.
    7. Liahona has been one of the best things that have ever happened to me. At this school, I found a higher education, a desire to get involved and to do more, a sanctuary, friends, but better yet, I have found a family there. Liahona has not only helped me to draw close to friends and teachers but to my own family. The siblings that I had constantly butted heads with suddenly became my best friends and closest confidants besides my parents. I got involved in sports and theatre. These helped me gain confidence in myself and my abilities, and they also helped me gain a love for teammates and other people who I don’t even know. Liahona has wrought a change in mine and my family’s life that I will be forever grateful for.
    8. I am grateful for the opportunity I have to be on this wonderful, beautiful, and mysterious earth. This place provides an education that no other place has except for heaven. To learn and grow though experience and all the wonderful things around us is the chance of a lifetime. Although at times things are scary, dark, and bleak, there is always light, hope, and rescue if we actively search for it.
    9. I am grateful for blessings. Blessings are the pick me ups when things have been pretty rough. Blessings keep me looking on the bright side of life and hoping for better things to come. They also help me to keep having faith and trust in my Heavenly Father. That He knows what He’s doing and things will work out for my good and for the good of all those around me.

  32. #1 Bob Ross. Can I get an amen? I have just so much to say about this man, but any words I write would be insufficient. This wise and humble magician has the ability to create mountains and bushes with a single brushstroke. His soothing voice and ever so subtle humor has brightened many a day and lulled me to sleep many a night. The greatest gift I could ever receive would be a Bob Ross original. This man will FOREVER live on. (Don't ever even try to tell me he has passed). My dearest wish would be to discover he is my blood relative, and that I might have some of his gift within me. Thank you, Bob. Can I get another amen? *Softly weeping*

#2 Emoticons and emojis. Best inventions since the band-aid. How easy it is to convey your feelings through these small icons. Only once have I been unable to find the perfect use for one. I find them quite adorable actually. I'm grateful to be able to show my expression through picture.

#3 I'm grateful for my older brother, Weston. He's a really cool dude. Many a night have we ridden in the car together rocking out to the latest hits. I love joking around with him, and its pretty easy to be myself when I'm with him. Sometimes the things we do are really pointless, (like wandering around Wal-mart at 1:00am), but hey! It's good quality family time right?

#4 I'm grateful for scripture. All the words that come from the Lord through His servants are spiritual and helpful. Plus, have you noticed how eloquent all of the Lord's servants are? They have some serious writing and speech skills.

#5 I love adventures. Spontaneous events that thrill you are the best. Especially when you think you are going to die, then you live to tell the tale. My life would be so boring without even the smallest of daily adventures.

#6 My sister Aleena. She is literally one of the best people ever. I share my bedroom with her, and I've never- ok, so there have been times I havent liked it, but the majority of nights I spend with my sister are joyful. We tell eachother things that we don't ever tell anyone else, which sometimes gives our conversation a serious tone. However, there is many a night where we stay up late laughing and joking about everything. She has helped me in so many ways, and I am so grateful to her.

#7 Laughter. I love the laughs that provoke more laughter. Some people have the funniest laughs. Laughter brings happiness, and happiness brings smiles, and smiles are beautiful. I just love the positivity there.

#8 The feeling of accomplishment. No one, not a single person can say they dislike the feeling of completion. It just feels so good. For example, after my next gratitude bite, I am going to walk away with this feeling and hold on to it as long as possible. But then, there are other tasks yet to complete.

#9 My job. It may not be much, but I'm really happy to have it, especially considering the fact that I am not yet 16. It feels good to know that you are trusted and that someone will rely on you despite your age.

  33. Super Post #4

    1. I’m very blessed to go to Liahona! I love how the gospel is incorporated in school! The teachers are amazing, care about us, and want everyone to get a good education. I have never been to a school that is so great! Before the school year started I wasn’t sure if it was the right school. My mom and I prayed about it. After thinking about for a while I knew is was the right school. I am very glad I made that decision. If I didn’t choose Liahona, I wouldn’t have met my BFFLNMW (long abbreviation for best friend baiscly). Liahona is defiantly a big blessing in my life.

    2. Water helps us in many ways. Water hydrates us, washes our clothes, helps clean our dishes, waters our plants, fills our pools, cleanses our bodies, ext. Water is a very important for survival. I am grateful that I have clean water to drink and use in my everyday life.

    3. I’m grateful for variety! Everyone is different/unique! There’s variant’s in appearance, personality, interests, and beliefs. This makes the world unique! It would be so boring if we were all the same. There’s also variant’s in music, clothing, food, talents, ext.

    4. Pumpkin pie is my favorite! It’s so tasty and even better with whipped topping! I’m always so exited when fall is right around the corner because pumpkin pie is in season! Some people say “its just mush!” and I say “tasty mush!”

    5. Phones are a great tool! We can communicate with one another from long distances and it is a lot quicker than sending letters. Phones can keep us entertained and give us something to do. Although… I think that phones can be over used. If we are on our phones all the time we cant make good memories and live life to the fullest.

    6. Whoever invented cameras is awesome! Cameras help us capture a moment of life, to look back on. I love looking at photos of when I was a little kid, noticing how much I’ve grown and changed. Photography is one of my passions… I love taking pictures of the different seasons, and sunsets. The earth is so beautiful! Cameras make it possible to fulfill my passion. Cameras are amazing!

    7. Without COLORS… life would be boring. Colors can help to show your personality and give variety. We use colors to define things, and describe things. Here’s a thought… How do we know that we all see the same colors? For instance: Blue for someone else might look different for you. Your blue might look like green if you looked through someone else’s eyes. But we will never know because there’s no way to find out. You’re welcome for driving you crazy. :p

    8. I am grateful for examples. Jesus Christ has showed us how to love, teach; endure to the end, ext. Jesus is a huge example in my life and I strive to be like him. Our founding fathers are another great example. They’ve showed us how to have perseverance and have faith. I am very grateful for they’re sacrifice. And of course my parents. They have raised me in a loving home; showed me how to teach and discipline; and how to work and provide. I am very grateful for all the examples in my life.

    9. I am very grateful for the opportunity to do this assignment! Writing something that I’m grateful for everyday of the month, has made me realize that I have a lot of things to be grateful for, and countless blessings. It has also helped my writing skills and typing abilities. I think this was a great assignment for the month! Thanks Sis. Jackson!

  34. 1 It's strange, but I really love Winter. I hate the cold with a burning passion, while I love the look and aesthetic of snow. Although I really don't enjoy the cold, I love enjoying a snowfall with the huge chunky snowflakes just drifting down to softly hit the ground.

2 S L E E P. I just love curling up in my soft blankets ready to fall asleep. It's such an amazing feeling after having a great night's rest. Although I don't get a lot of sleep, It's still my favorite.

3 I'm grateful for movies. Yeah, that's a pretty generic term, but it's the time when the whole family is together. I get to spend time with my family while watching an awesome movie at the same time; now that's what I call a win win situation.

4 Christmas is something I am totally grateful for. The entire family comes up to my grandmother's house and open presents from each other. We all get to spend time together (granted, I have a HUGE family) and just have fun with each other. I get to see my cousins from all over Utah who I don't usually get to see, and that's a blessing.

5 The mountains around Utah are something I usually take for granted, but I never realized how much I love them. Every morning I look out of my window to see Mount Timpanogos. It's so beautiful throughout the seasons (most beautiful during the fall and winter months) and I just could stare at it all day. Like I always say to my mom, "With all that snow, It looks just like a painting! I just want to frame it in the house.".

6 The sound of a piano being played warms my heart. I used to play piano as a kid, and I've just recently started playing again (without a teacher this time...). I always have a rush of happiness when I get a song right, or at the right tempo. It excites me whenever I see an open piano, free for playing, because I can play.

7 Candles are super fun to look at, and they smell good too. I always love candle shopping with my parents because there are so many colors and smells to choose from. I love finding a candle that just smells absolutely wonderful, and being able to get your house to smell like that.

8 Fire is something I love watching. It's always fascinated me when I watched fire burn. It feels so alive when you watch it twist and turn and flicker.

9 Being able to cook is something I love about myself. It's always so fun to mix up the ingredients to make something so delicious. Obviously I'm not a master chef who gets it spot on every time, but I love experimenting and finding out what does and doesn't work.

    1. I'm grateful for famiy! Without them, we literally wouldn't be here. Parents are definitely a good thing that will help guide us through life, and to care for, and nurture us. As for siblings... ;)
    2. I'm grateful for animals! Animals are awesome and delicious! I've had my cat for ten years and she is eleven years old, my parakeet is five years old, and my sisters cat is four years old. They are fun to watch and to play with and bring my family, minus dad because he's allergic, great joy. Animals are very important for the world in many ways and I'm thankful that we have them on this Earth.
    3. I'm grateful for the Gospel! Enough said. I shouldn't have to say anything else, but... The Gospel is truly a blessing to everyone. It leads my life and gives me guidance. I would be a mess without it.
    4. I'm grateful for my teachers! Normal kids wouldn't say that, but I'm not normal sooo... Brother DeGraff is a celebrity in our house, Sister Jackson has been a good replacement for Sister Willburn, and Brother Lloyd is a freakin' rockstar! He teaches 4 classes, is the tech guy for Liahona, used to teach the Gosple Doctrine class- but now teaches Sunday School, is in the stake Young Mens presidency, AND has five and a half kids! Talk about respect. I miss Sister Holms and Sister Willburn, but Liahona still has the same spirit without them. Thank you Liahona!
    5. I'm grateful for the Scriptures! My scriptures are very precious to me and are special gifts. My scriptures are so marked up, have a ton of bookmarks, dozens of tabs, and all the Young Women ribbons. Read your scriptures. They will help you wih life.
    6. I'm grateful for water! It is vital for life and is the best drink ever! (Almost) Water is the base of life! (Literally) Water is a Heavenly liquid! Water is AMAZING! I love water. (If you couldn't tell...)
    7. I'm grateful for doctors! Without them I KNOW I would not be here. I was always very
unhealthy when I was young and was also diagnosed with Epilepsy when I was 7. Life was helacious for at least 3 years. In and out of hospitals, bloodwork, tests, medications, all that good stuff. Doctors are awesome people who have dedicated their lives to helping and caring for others.
    8. I'm grateful for colors! Let's face it, without colors, life would be boring. Colors add life and personality to everything around us. Colors are amazing and can bring joy to many people. I think that most people don't realize how wonderful they are.
    9. I'm grateful for Thanksgiving!!! It is my personal favorite holiday, for many reasons.
    1) Food
    2) Desserts
    3) Break from school
    4) Food
    5) Family time/Goldfish racing. (Don't ask)
Thanksgiving is a holiday that alot of people skip. Thanksgiving is a day for celebrateing all we have been given. And for food...

And I can't believe I forgot to post this earlier in the week! I know we're not suppossed to post on Sundays... Sorry.

    22. I’m thankful for Senses and what they let me do. To see and hear the world around me. To smell and taste delicious food. And finally to touch and feel the different textures and materials that distinguish many things.

    23. I’m thankful for Color because color is everything. Color is like the details on a painting or a picture. The toppings on an ice cream or sandwich. It’s what God gave us to more appreciate his creations. Colors give an identity and certain shades display an emotion or mood.

    24. I’m thankful for Light because of what it does. That it lights my way and makes me warm. To chase away the shadows and deliver the light. The assurance that light will always shine and never leave.

    25. I’m thankful for Knowledge and its significance. The importance of gaining more knowledge and using it in our lives. That Knowledge is “Power” in everything we do both in our lives and the battle with Satan and wickedness. Powerful enough to be essential for freedom, for “If a society expects to be ignorant and free it expects what never was and never will be.”

    26. I’m thankful for Names and that they differentiate us. They give us an identity and something to hold on to. Something that tells who we are. It also gives a sense of responsibility. A responsibility to uphold our name and the names of those who came before us. To become like those that came before us and our Father in Heaven that we are named after, as sons and daughters of God.

    27. I’m thankful for Imagination and how different everyone’s is. How diverse and creative others can be. Imagining shows who we are and what we can become. What we can do and want to do. It’s a way for us to communicate with ourselves.

    28. I’m thankful for the Sky and clouds present within it. For the bright beautiful colors that clash to create a wonderful masterpiece. For the wind, rain, and breezes that cool me down. To the bright hot shining sun that warms me and my soul.

    29. I’m thankful for Time and how precious and important it really is. For the way we can use it to achieve so many things. However with this precious time there is also a great responsibility. The responsibility of not wasting it but cherishing and partaking of it.

    30. I’m thankful for Fires and how beautiful and astounding they are. For the warmth and the light that they provide. For the flames that mesmerizingly dance about the fire. And how fires can be a shining warm beacon in our life.

    1. I agree with #30. I love to watch the fire. My family has a fireplace in the basement and we use it all the time during the winter. I like how descriptive you were while talking about it.

    Gratitude month week 4

    1. I am grateful for Thanksgiving. It’s such a lovely time of year with Christmas and Thanksgiving. I love to spend time with all my family, it makes me really happy. I like seeing my family I haven’t seen in a while and I really enjoy all the food.
    2. I’m grateful for documentaries. I really enjoy watching them. They are fun to watch and I can learn things while watching them. I watch a lot of documentaries on Netflix.
    3. I’m grateful for Netflix! I love Netflix, I could watch it all the time. It’s not good for me sometimes because I procrastinate and watch Netflix instead of doing the things I should. There are so many cool shows to watch. I really enjoy watching Netflix.
    4. I am grateful for gym’s. I really enjoy working out and going to the gym. My mom works at the gym in my town and I like to go when she’s working and she can help me with a new workout, it’s really fun! It relieves stress for me and keeps me healthy. I’m really grateful for gym’s.
    5. Rain, I’m grateful for rain. It’s currently raining right now and I really like rain. I like the sound it makes when it hits the ground and it’s pretty to watch. It nourishes the plants and flowers and that’s a good thing!
    6. I’m grateful for makeup. I like to wear makeup sometimes. I can do a lot of cool things with makeup, from just putting on mascara to contorting my face and looking completely different. I don’t really wear a lot of makeup anymore but I’m grateful for it.
    7. I am extremely grateful for my life. I really take this for granted. I have such a good life and I am very blessed. I have amazing friends and family that make me feel really happy. I have so many things to be grateful for. I wouldn’t change anything about my life. It’s crazy to think that if I changed one thing about my life, it could be completely different. I’m very grateful for my life.

    1. I am grateful for my family, and my friends. Without them I would be lonely and sad.
My family provides a house, food, comfort, and many more things. My friends keep me socially active, and we do many things together that help us bond with each other. I am grateful for friends and family because they help me in my life to be the person I am.

2.I am grateful for God. He created everything in the universe and beyond. He is a perfect man and He loves us all equally no matter what. He created all the things that I am grateful for. He gave his only begotten Son for us. I am so grateful for God because without him there would be nothing to be grateful for.

3.I am grateful that we have A/C in our home. In Hawaii the climate is different throughout the island. We live on the dry part of the island called Ewa Beach. Without AC it would be hard to do school because it would be difficult to focus.

4.I am grateful for Planes. I wouldn’t be here in Hawaii unless I came here on boat. Can you imagine yourself crossing the sea to China? An airplane allows people to travel quickly and to see various places all over the world. An airplane ride is mostly smooth. Did you know that most of your plane trip is controlled by a computer?

    5. I am grateful for Jupiter. He is the big brother in the solar system. Jupiter pulls the earth back from the sun just enough so it’s not too cold or hot. Jupiter also protects us from asteroids that have a collision course with our earth. Jupiter uses its gravity to fling the asteroids away from the earth. It has giant storms that are big as the earth, and it is pretty awesome to look at. I am so grateful for Jupiter because without Jupiter we would be too close to the sun and asteroids would hit our earth more frequently.

6.I am grateful for Gravity. Even though it would be fun to gloat around. It would very confusing to go places because there would be no up and down. You would have to hold on to the earth for dear life. If there was no gravity there would be no core. If there is no core the whole earth will fall apart, and if that happens we would all drift into space endlessly.

7.I am grateful that I had the chance to be in robotics this year. Last year I was in the Lego League and it was really easy. However, this year I was in FTC robotics and it is more challenging. Even though I didn’t like it as much as last year, I learned a lot. I’m grateful that I stayed with it despite the many challenges throughout the season.

8.I am grateful for Beds. They are soft, and comforting. They are the place where you retire at night. They help you sleep, and have good dreams. It feels like you’re riding a cloud on a sunny day. Gracefully floating across the beautiful horizon in dream land. You wander off into a mystic world with mysteries ahead. It helps recharge your brain and refresh for the next day.

9.I am grateful for all of my blessings. When we visited the homeless people the day before Thanksgiving it really helped me to be truly grateful. A few friends gathered at my house to prepare all of the meals. There were 244 homeless people and we gave them food, blankets, and water. Then they gave us a tour around their “village” ( 19 acres on the Waianae side ) which had a lot of muddy roads due to all of the recent rain. They live in massive tents and some have gone all out decorating for Christmas. They were organized for their lack of supplies. They even have their own Governor, Mayor and team leaders. When someone is coming to bring supplies, the Mayor sends a text to the team leaders. The team leaders then let everyone else know. Everyone knew each other’s name and they were very welcoming. I realize that even though they did not have a house, they certainly have a home. Some of them even landscaped around their tents and it looked really nice. It helped me to be thankful when I was looking around the “ village”, and it hit me inside that I am truly blessed to be in a well constructed home that keeps me safe and happy.

  39. 1. I am thankful for conference Ensigns. One of my favorite things to do on Sunday is to go read the conference talks. Yesterday I read one faith because that was a goal in my personal progress book. This is a quote from President Monson. “The future is as bright as your faith.” I love this quote and it is so true. I am glad we have Ensigns so we can read over and over again the prophet’s words.
    2. I am thankful for missions. My sister is on a mission in Canada, Halifax and is always sending us emails about the amazing experiences she has. The LDS mission program has helped us better share the gospel and I am truly thankful for it. When I grow up I plan to serve a mission.
    3. I am thankful for my animals. Whenever I am depressed my animals help me feel better. Especially my cat and my horse. Sometimes when I am depressed on way to my outside chores my horse will nicker at me. Guess what? His name is Nick. I love him. Also if I go to my room my cat will come and sit on me and her presence makes me feel better.
    4. I am thankful for my remote control helicopter. I name him chopper because I was flying him in the house and got him to close to my mom’s flowers. Yikes! Well anyway the flower lost some leaves. It is so much fun to fly! It even has an LED light on the front of it so it can fly at night.
    5. I am thankful for decorations. I put up some Christmas one not long ago. It is so fun to make the world cheery with holiday décor. It makes you get more into the spirit of the season. Decorations make holidays fun.

    6. I am thankful for art. I love to draw with pencil. I mainly love to draw animals. When you comment please tell me an animal to draw. Once it is drawn I will try to post it on notebowl. Art is amazing and calming.

    7. I am thankful for cousins. I love it when I get to visit my cousins because they are my pals. It is especially fun to hang out with my cousin Briah. We have a lot in common and are the same age. It is so fun to do gymnastics with her.
    8. I am thankful for chewing gum. Unless it gets put where it is not supposed to. (Like in my hair or on the table.) But it is great for fast Sunday. That way my mouth can be doing something to distract me from my hunger. It is also great if you are board because you can blow bubbles.
    9. I am thankful for geraniums. Yes, those are the flowers I took some leaves off. They are really pretty and really easy to grow. They really brighten places up and make them look better

    1. I have to agree with 2. There are so many people that would not be able to hear the gospel without missions and missionaries. My mom was a convert, and I'm thankful that she was able to hear the gospel and join the church, so that I could be sealed to her and my family forever.

  40. 1) I am grateful for cars. I live about 20 miles from school and I am glad I don’t have to walk all that way (especially in the winter.) Cars make transportation so much easier. Think about how your life would be without any cars. That is a lot of walking which takes up a lot of time in the day. Cars make transportation nearly effortless, a lot less time consuming, and enjoyable.

    2) I am grateful to have a roof over my head that I can live under. A roof keeps out the elements and holds in the warmth. Do you know how miserable your life would be in the winter without a roof? That would be a very cold and miserable Christmas.

    3) I am grateful for my health. With my health, I can have fun. It is important for me to be healthy because that way I can do a lot of things. As a deacon, it is important for me to be healthy because a lot of my priesthood duties require a lot of physical activity such as service, fast offerings and passing the sacrament. My health allows me to do so many things.

    4) I am grateful for my savior Jesus Christ. He is my eternal loving brother. He provided the Atonement, which allows me to repent of my sins and be forgiven. He died for me. Jesus created this earth for us to live on. He is my Lord and Savior and I love Him.

    5) I am grateful for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It is a blessing in my life. I know that it is the true, restored gospel on the earth. The gospel is the center in my life. It makes me who I am. It is a part of me. I can’t even imagine what my life would be like without it.

    6) I am grateful for Liahona Preparatory Academy. It is a unique and special school. It is such a blessing in my life. I love the opportunity to have the gospel tied in with what I learn at school.

    7) I am grateful for music. It is a wondrous thing. There are all kinds of different music. Music gives a spark to life. It is something that everyone can enjoy. My favorite music to listen to is The Piano Guys. They are absolutely amazing. They can do great things with songs. I like their music because it is all uplifting and joyful. I am not really a huge fan of other kinds of music. There’s the occasional song that I like, but I believe Piano Guys is the best.

    8) I am grateful for Christmas. It is such a wonderful time. I love spending time with my family and doing fun things. I love to get presents. I also like Christmas because it is when we celebrate Christ’s birth which is why it is called CHRISTmas. I am so grateful that he came down to earth to redeem mankind.

    9) I am grateful for my bed. When I have had a long day, I come home and go to my bed to fall asleep. It is so comfortable. I can rest on it, sleep on it, sit on it, read on it and much more.

  41. Final Gratitude Month Super Post (PART 1)

    22) I am grateful for food! I am particularly hungry at the moment, and I am glad that I have food ready for my use 24/7. I ate an amazing breakfast this morning, and it was quite good. I had a piece of toast with extra nutella on it. I am so so grateful for food.

    23) I am grateful that I can drive. I can drive wherever I want, when I want to go there. Not having a license has been a struggle. I am a criminal mastermind, and it just sucks having to make my mom drive me to my next biggest evil scheme. However, all sarcasticness aside, I am extremely grateful that I can drive myself places whenever I want. Driving is dope.

    24) I am grateful that I’m not at work today! I am really grateful for my job, but I needed a break and I got one! If I were at work today, then I wouldn’t be able to catch up on so much homework. Also, If I were at work I would not be able to do all of the awesome things I have planned to do with my best friend Sadie! Work can honestly suck loads of the time, so I am glad that I don’t have to be yelled at by my manager today.

    25) I am grateful for art in any form. I am grateful for art in general, art is a way for a man to express his feelings fully through his medium. Whether that medium is painting, music, poetry, or creative writing in general. I am grateful for all of the men and women that expressed what they were feeling and wrote it down, painted it on canvas, or typed it up so that other people in the world could know that they aren’t the only ones going through hard things in their lives. Art is a great way to share your thoughts and feelings with everyone, sometimes without saying a single word.

    26) I am grateful for jackets, hats, and scarfs! It is getting colder, infact it snowed today. I am grateful that I have a warm jacket and scarf to keep me warm when I travel places. I was in Saint George this past week and it got cold there sometimes, I was glad to have brought my jacket with me to keep me warm. I am thankful for my awesome beanie to keep my head warm, and to keep my hair under control when I don’t feel like styling it. I am grateful for warm clothes in general.

    27) I am grateful for my hair. Having hair is a truly curious thing, and a thing I can not explain. However, I’m not complaining. My hair is an extremely luscious animal and often has a mind of its own. But, my hair and I work together to create a sexy beast of which the likes have never been seen! My hair and I could accomplish complete and total world domination if we wanted to! But, the time is not right yet. I am grateful for my hair because it is another way that I can express myself.

    28) I am grateful for my jeans, particularly my black jeans. My black jeans are basically the only pants I ever wear. My black jeans go perfectly with anything that I want to wear. Plus, they give me this awesome pop punk (subgenre of punk rock) style when I wear them with a band t-shirt. My black jeans are dope, and I would be naked without them. So thank the lord for the pair of black jeans in your life, without them, your life would mean nothing.

    29) I am grateful for this school year! As some academy students might recall, there was a little bit *COUGH* (A LOT) of drama that went one last school year. This year however, is different and more relaxed. I haven’t been involved in any drama except for my own personal problems that I deal with by myself. I am glad that a lot of people at the school have matured - as have I - and are realizing that it is easier to not make everything into a huge deal and blow it out of proportion. I am grateful that I haven’t been apart of drama this year.

    30) I AM GRATEFUL FOR GRATITUDE MONTH! Over the last month I have been able to the little things in my life that I am grateful for, and overall, how God has helped me in my life and has been there the whole time. Gratitude helped me see how I could be grateful for little things like my phone, my hair, my drums, and even the ability to think! Gratitude month has also helped me realize what amazing things there are in this life to be grateful for such as: the fact that I was born, my bed, my best friend, my family, and the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Gratitude month has made me see things through grateful eyes. It has made me think that I am so blessed when others might not be. I am filled with gratitude for my ability to be grateful.

I know I shouldn't be commenting again, but I felt the need to impress upon your minds this Idea; I am grateful for hugs. Now stop for a minute, and think about it. Aren't hugs great? McKenzie from Boston said that she loves hugs because, "You get to share another persons warmth," and that just touched me. I'm so grateful for the ability to express my love and appreciation for people. Hugs are amazing, and so are you.

  44. I’m grateful for my oldest brother, Cody. He is the only person I know that can change an engine, play a Beethoven Sonata, and code a website. He is incredibly smart, patient, and talented, and does anything he can to help others. In the summer, he taught a class to my other older brothers, some of their friends and I. He did it for free, and spent hours preparing it, and the class itself was almost 6 hours per week. He did all of this because my older brother, Collin, wanted to earn some college credit. He is a role model to me, and to most people he meets.

I’m grateful for my Speech and Debate class. Sometimes I don’t want to go, and sometimes I don’t like all the work I have to put into it, but I am grateful for it. I have learned so much from this class and the tournaments. Not only do I learn how to speak well, but I have also learned how to think and work hard. I also have an amazing teacher to help me learn these things. I could say many things on this, but Sister Jackson told me not to write an essay. :P

I’m grateful for Liahona. I have learned amazing things here, and I enjoy learning. I was struggling at my last school, and I am forever grateful that I have had the opportunity to come to Liahona and see my education from a different perspective, and enjoy learning in a way that I didn’t know I could. I hope to be able to continue learning here.

On that same note, I would also like to express how grateful I am for my teachers. They are all incredible people, and have taught me so much. All of them know what they are teaching, and present in a way that I can understand. They are willing to help me in areas that I don’t understand, and help my get to the point that I actually do understand it. Thank you to all of my teachers!

I’m grateful for our prophet, Thomas S. Monson. He is an amazing example of faith, and I know that he is leading the church the way Heavenly Father intends. One of my favorite hymns is “We Thank Thee, O God, For a Prophet”. I love it and the message it has. In these latter-days, as it says in the song, I’m thankful for his guidance and revelation.

I’m grateful for traditions. Christmas traditions, in particular. Having something that you can look forward to, with just your family or otherwise, every year wonderful. My Step-mother, Autumn, has introduced a new tradition to our family, one that her family had when she had was little. Her family always put their christmas gifts in a pillowcase, made by their Mom. It’s an oxymoron, I guess. It’s a new tradition!

I’m grateful for all the decorations in my house. It looks a little bit like Christmas just threw up all over, but it’s amazing. The whole house is filled with decorations, and we had quite the adventure putting them up. It’s so happy in our house, and it’s Christmas galore. It smells like Christmas, looks like Christmas, and even feels like Christmas!

    9. Lastly, I’m grateful for this challenge. I’m grateful that Sister Jackson challenged us to look for things to be grateful for. There were multiple times throughout this month when I have thought to myself, “this is something I could put in for gratitude month” or realizing how grateful for simple things that I wouldn’t have otherwise thought of. I’m grateful that I was able to be grateful.

    1. I am thankful for water. I am made up of 72% water and if I did not have that water I would be dead. Thank you water for keeping me alive.
    2. I'm so grateful for mirrors. Not that I like starring at myself but so I can know how I look. It helps me get ready everyday.
    3. I am grateful for skull candy headphones. I have not had to buy headphones for 5 years because skull candy has a lifetime warranty on its headphones. I am grateful for scull candy because that save me money all the time.
    4. I'm grateful for hope. Hope gives me a sense of excitement. Knowing I may be able to get something done it helps me have the drive.
    5. I'm grateful for cameras. With out cameras it would be impossible to document some things. Cameras help keep memory's. I'm thankful for that.
    6. I'm thankful for Christmas music. It can nearly make anyone happy and when people are happy I'm happy. With out Christmas music someone may not be as happy so I'm thankful for Christmas music.

1: I am grateful for calculators. Math is a hard subject and being able to use a calculator has probably saved so many things! Even everyday little things as I struggle. I'm glad that I can fall back on that.

2: Christmas lights. Those are really amazing. I don't like Christmas stuff before December all that much but the lights make me happy every time I see them. Lights are a gift to me and I'm grateful that I can enjoy them.

3: What would we do without the temple. I love the temple. It is such a beautiful place of peace and safety. There are times when I feel like I can't take the craziness of the world and it is always so nice to have the temple to bring me peace. And all the work that it has done already is truly incredible to think about, we have the opportunity to do so much.

4: I am grateful for clocks. I am not a very on time person, but clocks like to laugh at me as I try to be on time for stuff. But really though, what would we do if we never knew the time. Everything would be so much harder. Meeting people, starting things, managing your day to fit a lot of stuff in. Sometimes I wish I could slow down and speed up time but it doesn't work like that. But I am grateful for the understanding of time.

5: Holy cow candles! I freaking love candles! I collect them and have a bunch all over my room. I actually have three lit right now. Anyways I love not only the smells of different candles but their small light. I can't explain it in as great of detail as I want to, but something about it makes me feel so peaceful. The small light has some sort of comfort in it that reminds me of the power something so small can have.

6: I am grateful for socks. I am naturally a cold person and my hands and feet so often feel like ice cubs. But socks are a great thing for that I guess. And also the fluffy socks, really who doesn't love FLUFFY SOCKS!? Those things are heaven!

7: Swimming. I don't know if it's just me but when I swim it feels like I'm floating or flying. I don't swim a lot and never in the winter but when I do it is something that I love and can't imagine not being able to do. I'm grateful that my mom got me lessons when I was younger so I could have that opportunity while I grew up.

    1. I am Grateful for the gospel and its teachings. This wonderful gospel that has guided my life in a way that I have been able to stay out of trouble and get closer to God. Without the church standards I would we a completely different person, I don’t know what I would be like without the gospel, but I am forever grateful for the gospel and the places and situations it has put me in to bless people's lives.
    2. I have had the blessing in my life to have the priesthood and to hold those keys that come with it. Words will never express the feelings I have for the holy priesthood that God has placed on this earth. I never take the priesthood powers I hold lightly and I never will. I strive everyday to better myself and to develop my priesthood. I have been given this gift in my life to help others in every way I can. I sorrow when I see others disown their priesthood keys and I also sorrow when I falter in my life and I try my best to retain my worthiness for the priesthood which I have been so blessed to have.
    3. Jesus Christ died so that all mankind may be saved and live again with him. Without the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus made none of us would be able to live with our father in heaven again. The Atonement would never had happened. So that's why we should all be grateful for Jesus Christ and the perfect life he lead.
    4. A book that I have always been grateful for is, Preach my Gospel. This book has so many valuable lessons and teachings and without it I would be quite different. Every day I have my Preach my Gospel study session, when I say a prayer and think of a question I have in my life. I then write down the question on a piece of paper and open up Preach my Gospel to a random spot. Every Time I have done this I have received an answer to my question and many others I had. I would encourage everyone to at least try this.
5.Another book I am grateful for is, For The Strength of Youth. This book basically has given me the standards I want to live by if I want to live with God again. People always question me on my “CRAZY” beliefs and most time I give them For The Strength of Youth and say in this book is the standards that I choose to live my life by.
    6. Another book I am grateful for is The Book of Mormon. This is the book that anyone can read a million times and they will get something new out of it when they read it again. I have gotten so much new and interesting revelation when I read it, it changes the way I look at a lot of things.
7.Today I made some mad nachos… they were amazing. Without a cheese grader those amazing nachos wouldn't have been possible. I use that grader to cut the cheese for some many other things too, I love that grader.
    8. I am currently wearing a santa hat. Every year around christmas time I wear this hat and it really just helps invite the holiday spirit into wherever I go. It also is amazing at warming my ears keeping my head hot.
    9. The people who I am truly grateful for is all of my teachers. I am Grateful for Brother Lloyd because he has given me insight in science religion and math. I am also grateful for Sister Durfee who is ,always wearing a smile and is willing to help in anyway possible. Sister Jackson has developed my writing in such a way that I don’t know how to repay her. Finally Brother DeGraff is someone who has been a life changing teacher and can always brighten my day and put a smile on my face.

Although, we do not have those keys, we are here to support you in that calling. I hope you can feel that support. I realize that I have said it multiple times, but I don't think you hear it enough, so thank you again. Keep pressing forward. Also, you write very profoundly, and I truly enjoyed reading all these.

1.I’m grateful for hot showers, yesterday with it being amazingly cold outside I took a hot shower and thought to myself could you imagine showering in the middle ages and all but kings having hot water?! I concluded I would never have had a shower if the water was as cold as the air and upon thinking this it really touched me how simple hot water may seem yet it is such a blessing in our lives that for me at least I feel is almost unseen.

    2. I’m grateful for fantastic authors who write incredible books. My life would not be the same if not for titles like “Forbidden Sea,” “The Search For WondLa,” “The Shapshifters Secret,” And so many more it makes my head spin. I’m currently working on publishing my first novel and even starting on my quest it’s incredible to know what you have to go through and for that I have a huge respect and gratitude for the great authors who have inspired my imagination with their fantastic works or literature and for those who I may yet be inspired by.

    3. Moments are something I cherish; they are small and defined and can be simple yet hold within time. I have had them in sorrow when I want to give up yet hope moves me to faith, I have found them in prayer when my father’s loves embraces me; I have had them with family, friends and alone in the quiet. They are pieces of me that are gained only through time, they are like pictures that I keep within my mind; they are not emotions alone caught in the recess of my mind but memories that are strong and guide me when I need them back in my life. They are not boring, outdated or faded; but living within me as hopes and lessons and things of deep meaning.

    4. I’m grateful for hope, there are days I need it more then I feel air and there are times it is simple and only needs to be a word; yet often it is the thing that means the difference between failure and accomplishment. Hope is a light word yet it holds more power then we may ever know, it is the reason we aspire to greater, we move towards betterment and our choice when all roads feel broken tell us to go forth. It may be one word yet its power is lasting and empowering.

    5. Scriptures hold the answers to some of life’s problems; it can be a source of guidance and a voice of warning. The scriptures give us hero’s and heroines to look up to as they face adversity, we are given strength through them though they are gone we gain deep conviction in their words.
The scriptures have been a light in my life when I have needed them more than words can adequately express and for them I am eternally and incredibly grateful.

    6. Music is something that can soothe my soul, I can imagine new story ideas or feel the beat swell in my chest as if nothing in the world for a moment could feel as deeply in the movement of words and interments that lift our souls and enlighten our minds. Music compels me and draws me deeper into life’s moments and understanding, for this I am grateful for music’s good influence in my life.

    Part two:

    7. I’m grateful for the guitar. I’ve had a smaller blue guitar for years and never had an ambition to learn even to play something simple, but over this last year I decided I would learn to play at least one song or even a tune; I cannot express how this has changed my view of music and musicians. I now see them as artist in their own right and have even enjoyed playing around with making music now that I know cords and I am even practicing silent night so on Christmas our family can enjoy singing with a guitar to add to the spirit of the season. In all I’m grateful for the solace and depth of life the guitar has added into mine.

    8. Nature is an absolutely amazing thing, you can walk around in it, breath it in and if inclined taste it. (Though I don’t think pine needles are very appetizing.) Nature gives us a way of seeing the purity of life through God’s landscapes; it could be a red rock cliff or a landscape of winter dotted with elk and bison roaming. Nature is one place I feel I can always escape the noise and bustle that traps me and for this I am grateful for it.

    9. Angels are something I am grateful for, not just the ones who are unseen though they help us more than even we can comprehend; but some of the best angels in my life have been friends in a time of need or a simple unknown person walking by that smiles or says something to me about a sketch I’m drawing or a well wishing for a good day. Angels are wonderful people and spirits both dear to me, I’m grateful for them in whatever form they may be as they give me hope and inspire me.

    1. I love what you said in your 9th bite. That is something that can be so easily overlooked or go completely unnoticed. I find it incredible that you are able to remember to be grateful for things that are unseen. Thank you, for reminding me to do the same! Beautifully said!

1- My big brother is like my protector. Ever since I was brought home from the hospital, he decided I was his to watch over. He almost takes it to far, but I appreciate the care that he shows. He will listen to me talk wether I am sad, angry, or excited. He cares, and I know it because he has made the effort to show it.

2- My sister is an interesting girl. She is peculiar in every way, yet people gravitate towards her. She has taught me more than anyone to be myself, and to embrace it. She has shown me that everyone has their individual talents, and that they should be used to their full capacity.

3- My Mother is my best friend. We are so alike that it is sometimes scary. We talk to each other about everything. I am so glad to have a good relationship with her. As long as my mom is here, I know that I have a true friend who will love me no matter what.

4- My Dad is one of my heros. He is the glue for my family. When things are not going well, he manages to stay calm and make everyone feel comforted. He has a way to provide clarity in all the fog. Most importantly, he and my Mom work together in all things which provides an example for how a marriage should work.

5- Liahona is my school. As a homeschooler that is a nice thing to be able to say. I am so blessed to have the opportunity to learn from wonderful teachers who understand the importance of the gospel in education. I have grown to love and appreciate Liahona, so much that it is the only reason I have in not wanting to graduate this year. I love my Liahona family.

6- The gospel is what brings true joy in my life. It is because of the gospel of Christ that I have the knowledge that My family will be together for eternity. I have known this truth my whole life, yet so many people have no idea. It is because of this that I desire to serve a mission. This is a blessing that everyone needs to know about.

7- No words can describe the influence and impact of The Savior. I am not poetic or eloquent in my words, so I will just keep this simple. Our Brother, Jesus Christ, lived a perfect life for 33 years that he then willing gave to atone for all. He suffered beyond our comprehension in the garden, so we may have the blessing to receive forgiveness. He knows our individual pains and sorrows, and therefor chooses to be our personal advocate to the Father. Try and remember that the next time you feel alone, and know that someone does understand.

8- The temple is the most peaceful place I have ever had the privilege to enter. I am so grateful for the covenants that are made within those holy walls. I am privileged to be able to do the temple work for those beyond the veil. It is the most meaningful service that can be preformed, yet I feel like I am the one receiving all the blessings.

9- I am grateful for life! Every breath is a blessing from God. Every trial will help me to grow. Every day is an opportunity to start fresh. Life is a gift.

1: I am grateful that I get my own bedroom. I used to share up until I was 14 but once my brother left on his mission I’ve been solo. I thought it would be really weird at first but it has been nice. However, I do love it when my brothers come home and we all share a bedroom. It’s like the good old days.

2: I am grateful for a strong family. I know I already said I was grateful for my family but this is different. Since my parents have been married they have been moving all the time. The longest place we have lived was 6 years and I was 2 when we moved there. Since then we have been moving all over the place because of that my family has grown really close, and we depend on each other for strength and support. Not only that but moving every couple years really makes you rely on what is constant in your life. And for us that has been family and the gospel.

3: I am grateful for a brain. I’m glad that we can mow things over and make sure about what we are doing before we do it. Life is truly amazing the fact that we come here un aware of anything and completely ignorant but through the course of 80 to 90 years we learn, grow and figure things out. I think life in and of itself is too significant to just be wasted at death.

4: I am grateful for seminary. I have the opportunity to attend early morning seminary so I’ve learned to enjoy getting up at 5:30 every morning. This has really been a huge blessing for me. I don’t think there is a better way to start your day off that spending an hour learning about the gospel of our Savior Jesus Christ, even if that means getting up a few hours earlier.

5: I am grateful for patriarchal blessing. This has been a huge help for me. Every time I read it I learn so much and receive so much guidance that is specifically directed to me. When I read its words it makes we want to be better so I can be worthy to receive the blessing that it promises. Patriarchal Blessings are truly inspired and the words of God.

6: I’m grateful for the times I get to go and teach with the missionaries. I love to go and share the gospel with people that need it (everyone). Knowing how much it has blessed me I am so humbled to be able to share such a message with those that are in dire need of it. If the missionaries ever ask you to go teach with them, DO IT!

7: I am grateful for thanksgiving. The dinner is so dang amazing. I do feel somewhat bad when I see all the food we are splurging on when I think of all the people that are starving. That is why I love to go and serve people “because I have been given much I to must give.” I don’t know how we can be so blessed and have so much and keep what we have from those in need, especially when we know that the things we have are from God. He gave us these blessings so we can be his hands in blessing others.

8: I am grateful for great friends. I have a few friends back in Panama that pretty much are my brothers. I’ve known them since I was 11 and one just got back from his mission and is going to get married soon and the other is working on his papers. I know the reason we are so close is because we’ve had the church. There weren’t that many of us down there, only four of us. However, since we were all members of the church we were able to keep each other in check and help lift each other up. And spending 4 years of your life with your posy made up of your brother and two “brothers” you get really close and have a huge impact on each other.

9: I am grateful for gratitude month. I struggled at time on what to write but this month has helped me come to realize what is important and what I value. It is a little hard to recognize what you are actually grateful for but this month has taught me how to be more grateful and recognize all the things I am blessed to have.

    1. I am grateful for prayer. I pray all the time to my Heavenly Father. All throughout the day, I am constantly praying to Him. It is comforting to know he is always there and always listening.
    2. I am grateful for flowers. Flowers are so pretty and I love the way they smell. I have a thing of flowers by my laptop and even though they are fake, they cheer me up and calm me down. 7. Christmas movies! My family has traditions were we only watch Christmas movies in the months of November and December. We don’t watch them at all throughout the year and pack them away until we bring out the Christmas decorations. We do the same with Halloween movies and watch those only in the month of October. I am also grateful for Christmas decorations!
    8. The smell of pine trees. Sitting at the kitchen counter, our Christmas tree is right behind me. I inhale its scent and let it calm me down. I look at the lights shining and it draws a smile to my face. I see the ornaments and thousands of memories flood my mind. I run my fingers over the pine needles and wonder about the tree. I give the tree a drink to help it stay alive. The animals love the tree as well and spend the days sleeping under or around it. I laugh as I watch the cats fight for the best spot, Baby Bear being the winner and Midnight sulking and taking the second best spot. I smile, with sadness in my eyes, as I look over each ornament. Remembering who gave it to me, when I got and how. I close my eyes and breathe in the scent of pine and imagine I was in a forest filled with pine trees. How much I love the smell of pine and love pine trees.
    9. I am grateful for Liahona. Liahona is wonderful. I love all my classes and am so happy to be a part of the Liahona family. All the teachers are great. The classes are fun and I love how the gospel is woven into everything. I enjoyed my time at Liahona and am sad to be leaving it as this is my senior year.
