ReplyDeleteI appeared in a different world,
A realm between life and death,
And I saw through my own eyes
The path my life would take.
I saw my weaknesses,
Become strong with all cares,
I saw my mission call,
And its pure-stained wears.
I saw my education,
Still sounding with a ring,
I saw my fruitful job,
And the help that it did bring.
I saw my wife with colors
So beautiful in white,
I saw my first-born child
With all his strength and might.
I saw my children grow,
Too fast as it would seem,
I saw my hyper grand-children,
Their energy at the seams,
I saw my hollow deathbed
Baring such little mass,
And then my life was over,
And I was brought back to math class.

ReplyDeleteI came running down my stairs, hoping to be the first one to post my slice. Then I find that I've been beaten for three hours. Oh well.
Anyway, my slice.
A few days ago, I decided to write down a story that I created in my head a few months ago. Because I did not write it down previously, I completely forgot what any of the character's names were. I ended up just putting "(main girl character)" for the name. Then my brother told me I should just name her that.
I laughed.
Loudly.
Then I decided, using my not-so-secret secret language to devise one for her. I took main and girl, and changed them to inma and rlgi(not pronounceable) respectively. Then I stuck them together.
Inmarlgi.
Go ahead, say it out loud. Not the most graceful name is it? I decided the "lgi" at the end wasn't graceful, so I took it off.
Inmar.
It wasn't quite graceful enough for me, so I changed it around with my "secret language" again. I took the "in" and put it after the "mar."
Marin.
hmm.
Marin.
(GASP!)
Mauryn!!!
I'll name her Mauryn!! After my good friend Mauryn, who sits next to me in Economics and gives me back massages in Art. (Sorry Red. My main girl does have red hair though.) Then I think, who can I name the main guy character in my story after? Joseph? Chris? Joseph? (there are two Josephs in my class) Alexander? Hayden? Guys, I'm struggling here. What should his name be? Any suggestions?
I love to create names and stories. Writing them down is hard, because they never end up the way I want them. I'm trying again with this one though, and so far, so good.
Wish me luck!

DeleteSo just a little warning
SPOILER ALERT!!!
I decided that I'd name Mauryn's sister(who will also have red hair) Taralyn.
sorry, only a spoiler alert because you don't know Mauryn has a sister, and you meet Taralyn before you find out she is Mauryn's sister.
Happy Birthday Red!!
All my friends give me so much inspiration.
Thank you
:D That's awesome how you played around with letters and languages and names to get your MC's name. I love fiddling with words and languages to find great names for characters. Such as, the other day, one of my character's mentors has a pet snake. I realized that I needed a name for said snake. And it needed to be something more than, 'Slithery' or 'Hiss'. So I got on Google Translate, clicked a language I liked on the second box, then wrote, 'serpent' into the english box. Voila! A cool name for my snake that meant snake. :) this happens (sadly) frequently.
DeleteMain boy character names (they're going to be based off your suggestions, but less ... normal)
Sjepho,
S'rich (as in " 'e's rich!" :D) (S'rich is better than Sirch, which is what I came up with first.)
Jopesh
Deralec
NeJhay
or:
Seojon
Krys
Jespero
Adexdaner
Yaden
These are all just scramblings and variations of your classmates names :) If you don't like any, don't feel in anyway obligated to use them. Seriously. I spent like 2 minutes coming up with them and won't feel as if you made me waste precious time :)
Erin B P3 DE

ReplyDeleteI have had this gift since I was about 18 months old. My parents recognized it right off. My older brother was about three and my mom was teaching him his articles of faith and doctrine and covenants Section 4. She kind of freaked when I got them first. I was really an oddity as a kid. I had a really developed vocabulary and mouth pallet so I sounded like an 8 year old when I was about 4. I was quite an odd kid.
Being the odd kid was kind of cool when I could memorize things just by looking at them or hearing them. I really impressed teachers and such. Then it started going down hill. I could still remember stuff, but I couldn't forget ANYTHING!! Anything dumb I said. Anything dumb I did. Stuff I want to forget.
I still have this issue :(
I'm sorry! I have the same thing.... memorizing is pretty easy, but then I can't seem to forget anything that I want to. I still remember times in my life when I felt really stupid. I wish that I could let that stuff go, but I just tucks itself away in my brain. :(

Slice of Life:
ReplyDeleteWhy do I have no ideas?
Why is my mind so empty?
It would seem to all of my ideas,
Decided to desert me.
It’s Saturday,
And wouldn’t you know,
Nothing to do and nowhere to go,
On the day of the week when school is takes a rest,
I can only seem to think of the test.
I want to hang when no one can,
I want to go to sleep, oh man!
It’s warm outside, it feels ‘real good,
I’m not doing anything when I could.
I have to wait until 3:00,
To find someone to hang with me,
SURPRISE, the person’s a guy,
So it has to be a group hang!
I’m counting down the hours ‘til three,
It’s almost 11:00…… and I’m out of rhymes,
I’ll post for you again next time.
Hope you liked this poem, I wrote it on the fly,
I never thought that would get to hang out with a guy. ☺
Based on a true story.
P.S. We’ll be playing capture the flag with my siblings. It’s going to be so fun!

ReplyDelete"Glorious" by: David Archuleta
[ Verse 1:]
There are times when you might feel aimless
You can't see the places where you belong
But you will find that there is a purpose
It's been there within you all along
And when you're near it you can almost hear it
[Chorus:]
It's like a symphony just keep listening
And pretty soon you'll start to figure out your part
Everyone plays a piece and there are melodies
In each one of us, oh it's glorious
[Verse 2:]
You will know how to let it ring out as you discover who you are
Others around you will start to wake up
To the sounds that are in their hearts
It's so amazing, what we're all creating
[Chorus:]
It's like a symphony just keep listening
And pretty soon you'll start to figure out your part
Everyone plays a piece and there are melodies
In each one of us, oh it's glorious
[Bridge:]
Oooh. . . And when you feel the notes build. . . Oooh You will see
[Chorus:]
It's like a symphony just keep listening
And pretty soon you'll start to figure out your part
Everyone plays a piece and there are melodies
In each one of us, oh it's glorious
I love this song! :) I was instantly in love with it when I heard it. Thursday night I started practicing it on the guitar and I've been practicing so much the past few days that my fingers already have blisters. I think this is a really inspiring song. We all have a part to play in this world and we just need to discover who we are and our purpose her on earth. We each have a different role here on earth. Each of us are unique. I really like this song and thought I'd share this song with you guys! Go look it up if you haven't heard it already. I think this song is actually in the, "Meet the Mormons" movie.
Anyways, it's a great inspiring and uplifting song! Hope you all have a great weekend!

ReplyDeleteWeek days are meant for school and homework, but Saturday is reserved for yard work. I wake up and get to work. I get all my saturday jobs done. It just feels amazing when I am done with all my jobs, but am I? No, I still have to trim a tree outside. We have 9 apple trees in our backyard, and we have to trim all of them, but it's amazingly delicious when all of the apples grow! The blossoms on our plum and peach trees (I think that is what they are) are in full bloom, but we haven't got fruit from them in years. Anyway, I started trimming my tree. It went amazingly fast! Probably because it went really slow when I was younger, but now I do it faster. I was done in a flash!!! I then proceeded to clean up all of the sticks that I had trimmed off.
My dad had given me the option yesterday that today I could aerate (I think that is how you spell it) people's lawns for some extra money. I really didn't want to, but I decided to do at least one lawn. Once he is done with the one he is doing now, I am going to aerate (I have never spelled this word before so I have no clue how to spell it!!!) someone's lawn for an hour and a half. After that I am going to hang out with my cousin, then hopefully I can end the day with a few pokemon episodes or a movie.
Gordon B. Hinckley said that nothing is more satisfying than a job (or task) well done. This is what I have felt today, because I have completed lots of tasks, and there are some that I still have to do. After completing all of my jobs, I end the day with relaxing, or hanging with my cousin.
You spelled 'aerate' correctly. You are awesome! I'm glad you were able to get some tasks well done. I did too. I did a bunch of writing and got laundry almost caught up.
DeleteCaleb A, DE, P3
DeleteThe good thing about starting the day with jobs or tasks is that when you do relax, you can feel that you have deserved the comfort and are being rewarded for doing it. Also when your parents come in and ask if you've done anything the entire day, you can bring up the task that you did and convince them that you have done something other than what you were initially doing.

I was babysitting today, and as the children and I were playing house, I 'fell asleep' on the floor. As I snored there, I felt the littlest child (Age 3) walking up to me, setting stuff on me and walking away before repeating this. After she was done, she shook my shoulder. I opened my eyes to see that as I had 'slept' she had taken all of her baby doll blankets to lay over me as I 'slept'. It really touched me, that she would cover me with blankets while she knew that I was actually awake. Children are so sweet and kind and caring. I definitely want daughters like that little one.

Next thing I know my dad gets off the phone and tells me that the place I had applied for a job had called while I was gone and wanted me in for an interview! I jumped into the shower, got ready, hopped in the car and drove to the interview. The hiring manager was super chill, yet still tough enough to intimidate you. After 45 minutes of talking I walked out the door… with a job! I am super stoked! Training starts next week and I can’t wait!

Have you every broken up with someone? Maybe I should rephrase that... Have you ever broken up with some one 4 times in a day? Well, I can successfully say that I have. You are probably thinking, "Wha de heck?" So I will explain myself. Maggie Green and I were in a drama competition together today. Her and I performed as a married couple in a scene from a play called "Standing Still Standing". It's a play about a couple that have been together for 3 years. In the scene, Grace (Maggie) wanted to move forward with our life together as husband and wife. But my character didn't want to because he felt he wasn't ready to move in a different direction with their life together. Why? I forgot to mention that my character was bitten by a tic 1 year prior to his marriage with Grace, soon after been got lime disease. This disease was manifesting itself in a condition called chronic fatigue syndrome. So basically my character doesn't want to do anything because having chronic fatigue syndrome means that you randomly get overly exhausted for no reason (or so I think). Long story short they get in a fight because my character was offered a job (that he was going to tell grace about) and then she overreacts because I waited to tell her, and we brake up. We performed this scene 4 different times and were half a point off from beating a scene where two guy friends come out to each other (in my opinion that is why they won). We scored 4th place scene and each got a medal for straight superiors. Rock 'N' Roll!

Well 6 now because our female bunny, Kitty, had 2 babies. Neither have opened their eyes, but they are super cute! The black one, Gordita, is huge. Well he/she fits in the palm of my hand. But comparing the little beast to his/her sibling... Gordita's head is bigger, or as big, as her sperazzic little sibling. With a white arrow on her head and super tiny, we think she's the runt. They're both so cute.

We should always serve the Lord
And Him alone, we should fear,
For the throne of our hearts,
He does not want to share
We should never allow another
The place reserved for Him,
But to give Him that place of Lordship
That will keep our hearts from sin
For we must choose whom to serve
And whom our allegiance is for,
But as for me and my household,
We shall only serve the Lord.
When we do service for some one we are serving the lord. I did a bake sale and raised $150 for my young women's leader husband, because she passed away and I wanted to help him out.

I am making a lot of pots, vases, decorated tiles, jars, masks, etc. In that class, I am able to creatively work with my hands and expand my mind to think out of the box when I do decorations and things like that on my clay creations. I bent back and struggled much as I attempted to grab my water bottle. After nearly 3 minutes of flailing for it, I gave up. After class, I got my stuff and walked out of the class room. On the lengthy trek across the hallway, my friend comes to me and says, "You made me laugh so hard! You couldn't reach your water bottle with your short, stubby arms!" DeleteI asked Siri, “How much could a wood chuck chuck if a wood could chuck chuck wood .” Siri said a woodchuck would chuck as much as a wood chuck could chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood. I thought that was funny. I think you should try to ask Siri other silly things.
ReplyDeleteMan I am having some really bad writers block. I don't even know what I am going to type next, or what this slice of life is going to be about. Writers block, writers block, writers block, nope that didn't help at all. Writer, writer, writer, block, block, block. I don't know what to write about… Ugh this slice of life stinks, ok I'm done.

ReplyDeleteHectic day, I had practice from 11-12:30 then from 2-4
The further I walked the less sane I felt. The darkness of the forest seemed to be eating away at me. My vision got blurry and unfocused. I didn't recognize anything, not where I was or where I was going. Then I finally saw a sign that said, "0.5 miles until..." Until what? Until where? I just felt the urge to go. Finally, instead of dusty dirt road it changed to wooden boards. My tent was further down the boardwalk. I yelled to my camp leader, "There is no park down there!"
ReplyDeleteI ate a yam tonight. I am trying to be healthy and yams are yummy! I did put some maple syrup on it but hey, that's natural right? It is totally natural.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds delicious! Now I want some...
