Slice of Life: DAY 25

Sister Jackson's Slice:

Every side has something:
Multifaceted,
Texturized,
Dynamic.
Time would not fly.
Something would be missing.
Life would not be right.
Friendship makes us complete.

  1. Okay I know almost everyone who has ever been one of the first has said this but.... I'm the first to slice! I'm here! I made it! I would just like to thank those that helped me get here. Thank you "Myself" for just accidentally looking on warrior slices blog when you opened safari. I'd like to thank "Me" for helping me automatically know to slice about being the first. Finally, I'd like to thank "I" for being just being awesome enough to be the first to post!

    3. That's the wrong order. It's "me" then "myself" and lastly "I." Work on that, Hun.

  2. Pasta, I have it so much! I love pasta it's so unhealthy but yet so good. It always brings a smile to my face whenever me and my sister make some for lunch or dinner. I love it when the noodles are cooked just right with a streaming of hot alfredo or spaghetti sauce drenched right on top of it. With a fresh salad to go on the side and of course garlic bread to add to it. Pasta is one of my absolute favorites the taste is amazing I could eat it all day. It always puts me in a happier mood!

I don't really have anything to say today...
I wish I could have slept in later than I did. I wish that my sister didn't eat the leftovers for lunch. I wish that I didn't have to go to Physical Therapy for my knee. I wish that I could eat more ice-cream. I wish that I hadn't lost my chapstick.
I'm glad that I slept in as late as I did. I'm glad that there were other leftovers to eat for lunch. I'm glad that there are people who care about the recovery of others. I'm glad that ice-cream exists. And I'm glad that my Grandmother gave me a new chapstick.
You can turn almost anything around to make it good. We just have to try.

We've stayed in St. George in these modern-Arizona-desert-Indian-looking brown houses that you can rent out. They're teally modern and fun but the best part is at night there are frogs. You step outside at night and all you hear are these frogs. Anyway, Graeson and I caught 24 frogs. One being as big as my palm which we named Mr. Toad. No, he wasn't a toad. Earlier, yesterday, we hocked some trails in Zion including some of the ones we hiked when we were young kids for a family reunion. The memories and views were sweet!

There are usually a lot of people around my house, what with 11 people living here.(7 kids, 2 parents, and 2 sister missionaries) But every once in a while it will be just me and a few of my younger siblings, and boy do things get wild. We are all usually yelling/singing at the top of our lungs by the time an adult gets home.

  7. Today I went to the Orthodontist to get my braces checked up on. I have been in braces for nearly four years, and it feels like forever. Right now, the only thing we're waiting for is my twelve year molars to come in the rest of the way, but that will probably take until December. I have the slowest-growing teeth ever. It's getting a bit frustrating! Hopefully my teeth will look awesome by the time it's all over, and it will have all been worth it.

  8. LIFE GUARD

My aunt and her little daughter Piper have been staying at my house this week. Today I got to play with with her on our trampoline in the backyard. Except, Piper didn’t really want to bounce. She just wanted to walk around and be held. Since she is so young she doesn’t realize how dangerous it is to walk close to the edge, and that she can fall and die. So, me and my siblings have to get between her and the edge, which is very tricky when she doesn’t want to hold anyone’s hand. At one point she wanted her mom and kept trying to walk off the edge to her doom, that was SO scary! We had to hold her back so I could get off and help her down. Is this what it feels like to be a Lifeguard?

  9. I ate mac and cheese for dinner tonight.
I absolutely love macaroni and cheese.
I could eat it every day, but don't because that would be extremely unhealthy and my mom would get mad at me.
After I made my macaroni and cheese I made brownies and put this egg less cookie dough on them. Its kinda my signature treat. I make them WAY to often.
Now I have ran out of things to say so I guess this is my slice for the day.

I just finished reading a book I got for my birthday. It is by a Mormon author, and it discusses church doctrine. At the beginning of the book it a typical high school book, lots of boy drama and anticipation for prom. But as the main character learns more about the important values and lessons in the scriptures, she goes to Heavenly Father for help with her chaotic life. By the end of the book everything is not perfect, but she relies on the atonement and her faith in God and everything works out. I find that this is true in our own lives; as we focus more on the important things than all else will fall into place.

    1. This book sounds fascinating! What's it called? I would love to read it, especially at this time when I'm anticipating prom myself. I like that at the end of the book everything is not perfect. It's not all magically fixed. We have to rely on the Lord and have faith to get through trials. The Lord isn't going to just completely remove them (at least not most of the time).

Sometimes, when I get a moment to just think and ponder, this random thought pops into my head, "Where will I be exactly a year from now? (At this exact day and this exact time). Where will I be and what will I be doing?" It's crazy how much your life can change in just a year. Next year, at this time of year, I'll be a senior. I'll be almost done with high school and headed off to college soon after that. It's really crazy to think about but also very exciting! :)

It's as if my brain has ran off with all my common sense and energy to boot. My thinking is in slow motion. My thoughts are tumbling through space. I close my eyes for just a second...

I know exactly what you mean! There are some days where you just can't think. Or you can't form the words to say what you're thinking. It's weird how our thoughts can be so clear and crisp at times but other times, our thoughts are mushy or all jumbled up!

True friends laugh with you and at you. They cheer you up, comfort you when you're sad, work with you, cry with you, text you in the middle of the night to make sure you're okay, help ease your way, talk with you, listen to you, plan with you, confide in you, and love you for you. But most importantly, they leave you better than they found you. I am grateful for true friends.

We went on the frog jumpy thing, it's not only for little kids, we also went on the roler coster, yes I know it's finally open! We also went on the rock climbing wall as well and laser tag but that's pretty much all we did... BUT we went laser tagging three times it was awsome. We were on the winning team the last 2 times. Gavin and Anjolee got flipped off sweared at and rammed into walls but we still won!

You can hide behind crates and boxes and pillars and shoot nerf darts at the other team. you can rent beater nerf guns like my vulcan it is a machine gun nerf wars would be easy if I used it at the games. You can apply this to the gospel in the sense that you will always go to heaven if you repent and follow the commandments. buying nerf guns is like repenting it makes you stronger and its easier to win.

  17. A Good Friend....
They are trustworthy, kind, they listen, they understand tor try to understand and help you all they can. They are loyal- to you, themselves, their families. They think the best of those around them. They look outside themselves. Now that I've written all this it sounds like a perfect person but friends are never perfect. I guess it's my part to try to be that person and accept them for who they are imperfect and all.

We got to Boise and went straight to the track. We ended up walking 10 miles this weekend from the trailer to the track. My legs are so sore. When the practice was over we went to eat and we laughed the whole time. When we got to the hotel I forgot my swim suit so I borrowed my friend maasens swim suit. (She brought 3) and it was a bikini and it was just black. Went we got back to the room I fell asleep on maasen went we were sitting in the couch in our pjs, watching pretty little liars.

    Today’s adventures:
    1. I cut got a haircut. Not the just-a-trim haircut, but 5 inches. I have always loved my long hair. Rapunzel is my favorite princess, and I’ve always been a little vain about it (unfortunately). When the hairdresser chopped my waist-high hair to the bottom of my shoulder blade. Doubt crept in, but overall I think I like it. I’m still in shock, and it’ll be hard to get used to, but I don’t have regrets.
    2. My aunt, mom, sisters, and my two girl siblings all went out to lunch together. We all had a fun time talking about our haircuts, and the adventures of that morning.
    3. Went to Temple Square and had dinner at The Lion House in one of Brigham Young’s houses
    4. Walked around the Salt Lake City Temple
    5. Saw the Mormon Tabernacle Choir perform the entire Messiah in the Tabernacle. Two and a half hours on wooden benches wouldn’t be worth it if it were anything else. The spiritual experience that I had couldn’t be traded for even the softest of chairs.

  20. Yesterday we drove to Houston (again) to try and get our old house on the market. We have been renting it to some people from our old ward and they had to move out so today we went to see the condition of the house. Over all it wasn’t bad but in one of the rooms their two-year-old had drawn all over the wall with marker. I looked online and figured out how to get most of the marker out without having to paint, which somehow led to me getting the task of scrubbing the walls for two hours. Afterwards we went out to eat at one of my favorite restaurants with my grandparents so that kind of made up for it.

I am glad that you have found a method for yourself. It is important that we let out our stress in an appropriate manner. Often physical exercise helps release that tension inside ourselves. It is far better than sitting around letting emotions over take you. I think this was an excellent choice of what to share for slice of life because stress is a very real part of life. The thing I liked is that you shared your personal solution to the problem! Well done. Oh, and I will keep your method in mind. ;)

In life, there are people you look up to, those who assist in the development of your life in order for you to become someone greater. That can be someone close to you, like your father, mother, siblings, or closest friends, but it can also be someone you know and yet have had no personal contact with. Louie Zamperini is someone who's story I have come to the knowledge of knowing, and someone I now have the desire to emulate. He didn't give up, not once, but multiple times when his life depended on it; he endured many things, one of which could have crushed the strongest man alive; and he helped to spark fire and courage into the lives of others when he held the timber over his head for hours, and when he was beat drastically by his nemesis, "the Bird". Through all the pain he endured, he found God at the end, and that is what gave him the peace he longed for. He didn't go off on a rampage because of his anger, he dealt with if for a time and then completely forgot it when he gave his pains to another. Though he isn't a Prophet, I believe him to be someone we should all try to be. That little bit he has given to me with his example will grow until it encumbers my entire heart, and then I will be ready to take on life's most difficult situations.

It is so strange being a senior. I desire to be done, yet I want time to slow down. So many people say, “Enjoy your youth while it lasts”. It is easy to fear the future when people make it seem completely overwhelming. My dad is the person who changed this for me. He said that his life continues to get harder, but it also becomes more worth while. He said that he never wishes to go back because of all the blessings he has to come. We worry about missions, college, marriage, and children. However, it is the blessings from those very things that makes the future so great. Yes, things will become challenging, but the best things in life usually are.
