Happy slicing!
On September 22 last year I met Tyler Joseph, the lead singer from Twenty One Pilots. It was completely on accident though. After the amazing concert my friends and I were waiting at the merchandise table for a long time. We were last in line finally once we got some shirts and stuff we started walking to the car to go home. A janitor for the venue stopped us and asked if we were Twenty One Pilots fans and proceeded to tell us that the manager of the band was over by the gates giving out meet and greet tickets. We ended up meeting Tyler and it was pretty amazing.
ReplyDeleteWait if you name a couple songs I might know who they are.
Deletehhhhmmmm never heard of that band I'll have to look them up.
DeleteThat is pretty amazing that you met him by chance. Strange things happen a lot.
DeleteDang lucky. Almost as good as me literally running into William Shatner :P
DeleteThat's so cool that happened to you!
DeleteAwesome! Thank you for sharing that experience with us.
DeleteThat is so cool!
DeleteWow, I love Twenty One Pilots! You're so lucky that you got to meet Tyler!

Hmmm, what to talk about.... well I guess ill talk about track a little more today. I made the team for high jump BOOOOOOM!!! I jumped 5 foot 1 inch that's barely over what you need for the team eligibility. Oh and I keep teaching myself new tricks for soccer I don't have time to list them all cause school is about to start but ill name 1 its called the sole stall and its the trick where you lay on your back and hold your foot in the air and you balance it on the bottom of your foot although I'm not very good at it I just need to keep practicing and ill perfect it. This is Malone Carroll signing out SEE YA!!!!
ReplyDeleteGood job Malone new you could do it!!!
DeleteKeep practicing! Soccer is really fun and congrats on making the high jump team.
DeleteThat sounds so exciting! Practice makes progress so I'm sure you'll get the tricks down as long as you keep practicing.
DeleteSo today I woke up with pink eye on top of all the other sicknesses and things I have going on this week!! Also it snowed today SNOWED it was like 60 degrees yesterday. Isn't it crazy how some people can make simple come to life??
ReplyDeleteSpencer Evans (TX)
DeleteAw, pink eye, come on! I feel genuinely sorry for you. Pink eye is awful. I do like snow though. Great slice!
I'm sorry that you got pink eye! A couple of my friends got that earlier this year and it really not fun! Snow? Wow! Yeah, weather changes SO quickly!
DeleteThe essence of, uh, Chaos.
DeleteSorry about the pink eye! And I know how it can be with the weather. The temperature has been crazy up and down here too.

DeleteOnce everyone my family got pinkeye the same morning except for me. Even my brother and we shared a bunk bed and I didn't get pinkeye. I kinda had to stay and 10 the family I miss school and church because I was too busy running around the house fetching glasses of water and such.

ReplyDeleteDirt flew as I hit the ground and rolled. A sniper was shooting at me from about 50 feet away, sheltered by some trees. I looked around to find myself in a dirt gulley. I was in an airsoft game with my brothers and dad. I thought about what to do, peeked over the top of the trench, then jumped out and sprinted towards the trees, spraying them with bullets. About half way there I stopped to see the sniper, walking out of the trees with his hands in the air. I silently congratulated myself as I went over and began to tease the sniper a.k.a. My best friend. The whole game was made up of guys from my ward. I patted him on the pack and ran to go win the game. My older brother joined me as we ran up over hill and rained chaos on the other team below. We walked up to the other team's flag as the rest of our team came over the hill. Me and Allan raised the flag as our team cheered. That is still my favorite game i've ever been in.
Spencer that sounds epic! Congrats on your team winning!
DeleteSuch great news! I'm so glad you had a wonderful time at this.
DeleteEveryone has their own chores. Perhaps some are cleaning your room, mowing the lawn, and washing the car. But if your chores are like mine, they all are not those ordinary jobs. I feed cows and calves. I have 2 cows of my own to take care of and I help my sister and mom with their cows. My cow’s names are Betsy and Diana and my calves’ names are Osco, BB, Brighty, Apollo, and Eclipse. Every morning and evening I lead my cows in with their set of calves and take them out when the calves are full. (I also have to milk Diana a little bit because she gives too much for her 2 calves.) So my life stays pretty busy.
ReplyDeleteMy chore is wash the dishes/clean the kitchen :P
DeleteThat sounds much more interesting than my chores. Its so cool you have cows!
DeleteThose are some pretty awesome names! I really don't like my chores... most times.
DeleteHow fun! I love doing chores involving our animals! I have 2 dozen hens, a dog, and a lot of younger siblings ;). I like doing chores that involve them because I know it will make them more comfortable, or bring more joy. It must be really special to be able to take care of your own cows and calves!
DeleteI have a dog and a bunch of chickens....
DeleteI hope you guys are lucky enough to have such great parents like me. For 13 years they have been the best parents a person could have. They spoil me, but also give me great opportunities to learn for myself. When I'm not feeling good, they make up for it by letting me relax that day, and help me out with anything I need. Sometimes I'll say that someday we should get a certain "thing". Within 10 days that "thing" will magically show up in the mail. If I want something that's just completely for my own entertainment, then my dad will give me some jobs to make money. My mom is just that type of person you wish for. She is helpful and will be like my partner is things like school, and Boy Scouts. Because of her help I'm a life scout about to work towards my Eagle! My parents are nice, helpful, and best of all patient with me! Hope you guys are as lucky as me!
ReplyDeleteYour parents sound like pretty great people. i think its really nice that you write about your parents. I feel like most teenagers don't give their parents the credit they deserve, and its great that you are .
DeleteYour parents sound awesome! I have parents that are great and I don't know where I would be without them!
DeleteToday is stressful. I have a test in history and a report due tomorrow in English. I don't know how I will have enough time to finish my report because I have work today.
ReplyDeleteOh yes. The history test. Soon excited for that. (not) And i have other tests coming up too. I can totally relate.
DeleteOh goodness. The test is a long one. I swear just when there is a big test there is a bunch of stuff that piles up.
DeleteI have special a necklace that I wear almost every day. Hanging on the chain is a smooth, coin-shaped pendant, and on that pendant is the letter “E.” The “E” sinks into the pendant ever so slightly and is filled with little diamond-like jewels. I got this necklace last year for my 14th birthday from a very dear friend of mine. I love the way it sparkles and how it helps to brighten up even the plainest of my outfits. I would like to relate that to the friend that gave it to me. He always finds a way to brighten my day or make me laugh, even on the worst of days. Thank you Trevor for giving me this amazing necklace!
ReplyDeleteAww that is so sweet! I had the same idea to give one of my friends a gift like that. I love the description of the necklace that sounds so pretty.
DeleteAwwweee! Thanks Ellie. You're so sweet! I'm glad you like it. Btw, I loved the way you described it.
DeleteYeah! I see you wearing that cute necklace all the time. It fits your cute, humble, and shiny personality.
DeleteI do like that necklace Elise! It's cute!
DeleteI do like that necklace Elise! It's cute!
DeleteThat's awesome! I totally can relate to that I have some great friend that is just the best! I love my necklace from my best friend!
DeleteYou guys are totally my friendship goals, I wish I had a friendship like you guys do!!!
DeleteYou two are too sweet!
It sounds so pretty!
I lay in soft green grass. Looking up; white fluffy figures hang over me, light blue filling in the rest. Warm sunrays kiss my skin. The song of a bird… singing sweetly in a tree. Fresh, crisp air engulfs me. My mind clears… all the worry and doubt, the stress and fear. Past memories come back, a grin shows on my face. I feel close to those who are not here. Gratitude fills my soul. This must be true joy.
ReplyDeleteYou painted a beautiful picture with your words! I can totally relate to that feeling because I too, I love laying in grass, (usually with a blanket under me because our grass isn't very soft,) especially in summer when the birds are singing and the breezes feel amazing!
DeleteAwe! Thanks! Yeah me too.
DeleteTrevor you're so poetic! I love how I specially love you said, "Warm sunrays kiss my skin," it made me smile! Even if the sun usually scratches my skin. The use of your words make me tingle. I loved it!
DeleteThat was written beautifully. You did a really good job painting a picture in my head with your slice.

DeleteElder L. Tom Perry says quote " A good character is something you must make for yourself." I like how we are taught to build our own characters. Before we came to earth God already knew what kind of person we would become. Character is not displayed only on the outward appearance but also by the way we act and treat others. Developing your own skills and talents will build your own personality. Don't be like everyone else, just be you, simply look into the mirror and reflect on yourself.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree Aliya! We should always be striving to strengthen our character! Looks aren't nearly as important as it is to show kindness, charity, and love towards everyone. Also, We need to be ourselves and not compare ourselves to others as often as we do. Great slice!!!
DeleteAwesome quote! Thanks for sharing. And nice, well written slice!
DeleteThank you for sharing! I've always been taught that its whats o the inside that matters, but not really so much about building my personality. Thank you so much for sharing!
Delete4th period academy.
DeleteThank you for the quote you shared. I kind made me think how character is something constantly changing and growing. Some people say character something you develop when you're in your teens and younger than when he had about 20 or pretty satisfied with who you are. But characters and it's constantly changing and morphing you can never solidifying your character because I'll change the next two seconds.
Last night was the first golf practice for the season. I have never played golf before and never really intended to but then all of a sudden I became pretty interested in it. My coach seems pretty nice and encouraging and all the girls on the team are very welcoming and have fun personalities. Even though I'm almost sixteen, I still get pretty nervous when I go somewhere new with people I don't really know, so the environment made my first day a whole lot easier and way less scary than I was expecting. I am really excited to play this season and I hope I can become friends with everyone on the team.

It is a bit nerve racking going to a new environment with new faces but I'm so glad it was a positive experience for you. :) Good luck this season, I wish you the best, in making friends and excelling at golf!

ReplyDeleteI had the opportunity to go to a David Archuleta concert tonight! Even better, I would have been able to go with some of my good friends, one of which is going on a mission soon. I’m not a huge fan of David Archuleta’s, but it definitely would have been a touching, stunning, and fun experience. The reason that I couldn’t go is I have dance. Thankfully my friends are dancers too, and they understand. And there’s the story of my Almost Adventure.
My mom and sister went to a David Archuleta concert and they loved it.
DeleteAlmost adventures are a good idea. I'm going to file this away for writing prompts. LOVE it. I'm sorry you didn't get to have an actual adventure though.
DeleteSounds fun Brennan! And thank you Sister Jackson! Plenty of real adventures come my way, I just have to choose to acknowledge them ;).
DeleteHave you ever questioned your existence? Like why everything exists? Or why anything exists in general? But why do YOU exist specifically? Why you and not somebody else? Why couldn't you be a fish, or a table? Why did you have to be you and feel the way you do as well as exist the way you do?
ReplyDeleteQuestions like these make my brain hurt :/
They make my brain hurt too. That's deep man.
DeleteYes like almost all the time.
DeleteI did once, and I prayed for an answer, and Heavenly Father has been showing me that answer for thirteen years now, and I'm sure I'll keep getting pieces of the answer until I join Him.
DeleteSo, this year I am in the Choir for the Lamb of God (P.S The music is amazing. It's about the last days of the Savior and his Resurrection), and during the end of one of our practices I was having a conversation with one of my friends. As I was turning around, to leave, a man in a wheelchair was coming my way. I almost caused the man in the wheelchair to crash. Man, I felt bad! So, the moral of the story, always look before you turn. Who knows what obstacles lie ahead!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THE LAMB OF GOD PRODUCTION! I have some family participating in the choir this year. The music really is amazing! Oh that poor guy! Be careful to look both ways next time! ;p

ReplyDeleteI just realized that the MST under most everyone's name is automatic. I thought that people were purposefully typing Mountain Standard Time.
ReplyDeleteToday in class we were talking about kids in the older days getting the spoon or the belt. This made me think of a time that I either got hit or whipped. T never really got punished that often, and when I did it was usually sitting in the corner or getting spanked. Although I remember a time when I got hit very hard with a spatula. I WAS INNOCENT, my mom was calling me, but I didn't hear her. She thought I was ignoring her, so I got whipped.
I like your random little observation at the start. Such great stream of consciousness going on there! Sorry about getting spanked, but so goes life sometimes.
DeleteNearly two months ago, our dishwasher broke. I don't, or didn't, particularly mind washing dishes, but with eight people in the house constantly getting the utensils dirty, it got old pretty quickly. The problem with the thing was apparently its computer chip, which is said to be more sophisticated than that of a laptop computer. Far be it from me to question why a dishwasher needs such a computer chip.
ReplyDeleteToday, as I write, there are people here installing a new dishwasher. Earlier, as I, for the last time, dried and put away the multitude of dishes that my sister had just washed, I felt a bittersweet sense of parting... But I quickly got over it, because washing dishes all the time is super annoying.
The dishwasher is indeed a luxury, and I get the feeling I'll be far more grateful for it now.
-Ainsley McFarland, Period 4, DE
This is funny because our dishwasher is broken as well.... And its been two weeks now! You think my parents would buy a new one first chance they got! But its taking forever! :') i never realized how much I loved dishwashers until the day I had to hand wash each one :D Hopefully my parents will decide to stop torturing us soon and buy a new one :)
DeleteWhen I was growing up, we never had a dishwasher. My mom got one when I was a teenager, but our well water was too hard for it to handle, so it had to go. We still own that house, and when I go visit, I do a load of dishes just to help out--or maybe it's for nostalgia's sake--who knows.
DeleteI didn't know that a dishwasher was more sophisticated than a computer. You learn something everyday. Pretty fun story.

ReplyDeleteClick! The flash of the camera goes off, capturing the delectable goodness of five, very different servings, of frozen yogurt. I take a deep breath, filling my lungs with the mixed aroma of fresh, fruity flavors and rich, savory candy. The five of us crowd around a small circular table, providing a place to bond and interact. We talk of things that only our family would understand, others around us must think we're crazy. With dad's jokes and mom's cleaver remarks, we're left laughing hard enough to say we've "done our work out for the day". As we clear out, I take one last bite of that, 'delectable goodness' and head put the door to see where our adventure will take us next. (This isn't based off of any situation in particular but my family does like to go on adventures, like the situation described, to spend time with each other and just have fun).
That sounds like so much fun!
DeleteWonderful slice! I want some frozen yogurt now though, and it's like six o'clock in the morning right now.

ReplyDeleteBack from yesterday I wanted to write about meeting someone.
Well, she's not necessarily famous, yet, but she has been a huge influence in my life. We've become close and gotten through much together. Turning each other for comfort or a picker upper or just listening to one another. Our differences make us whole and our similarities you night.
My brother, Hawken, is my bud. Haha, he is so sweet and sensitive when it comes to sharing his testimony. He is also athletic and way tough too. He has helped me develop and taught me lessons and gotten me through my struggles. He is my comforter, go-to man, and a guy that cheers me up and makes me laugh.
We all have someone in our life that we took two and enjoy their company. Mustn't take for granted these friendships that are so dear and influence so greatly. Make it worth it!
I agree. There is always that certain person who helps us and makes us stronger in everybody's lives. We need to have someone who we can have a really close relationship with.

ReplyDeleteI absolutely love books! Not History books or English books or stuff like that, but books that are fun and engaging. I love reading for hours a day. Books can do many great things for us, some of which are they can build our imagination and can help you with spelling and grammar rules. Books are better than movies because with books, you can see everything how you want it to be, whereas with movies, everything has already been set for you. And if a movie is based after a book, the book is always better. Some of my favorite authors are Brandon Mull, J. R. R. Tolkien and Rick Riordan. Books are great and I love them.
I totally agree Nat books are amazing! It's amazing how you can lose yourself in a book and put yourself in the place of characters. And yes, books definitely are better than movies! :)

DeleteI agree that books are A-MAZ-ING! Those are some of my favorite authors as well.
Homework is very evil because it seems like I’m always doing it. Homework can be very tiring. Homework wastes my video game time. Without homework however, I wouldn’t learn as much and I wouldn’t get very good grades. You know, I just thought of something. If you spell “evil” backwards you get “ live”. I guess homework helps me live.
ReplyDeleteHomework does help us live! Wonderful slice, Brennan.
DeleteSighhh... Frank totally blew up again last Friday. His front just shot off and out came his inflated bag. He does this way too often. Well I mean, it's only ever happened twice, but yeah. It's un-called for, seriously. So basically, Frank and I have been through a lot together. Because you probably didn't catch on, due to lack of context clues, Frank is my vacuum at work. To be perfectly honest with you, (Yeah, I'll be frank;), his presence kind of disgusts me. Although, over this long amount of time, I do marginally respect what he has to offer. Frank is an old, bulky, tan and brown contraption that makes a noise like 7 trains passing when you turn him on. His hose doesn't really work either. But I mean, he's still relatively good at what he does, I'll give him that. Even though he is very moody about what he picks up. Like, it has to be smaller than a quarter. (We're talking pieces of paper here). He's ancient, too. The fact that he blew up didn't really surprise me. It was bound to happen. But he keeps on going after I tape him up, so at least he isn't a quitter.
ReplyDeleteThis honestly made me laugh out loud, this is such a wonderful story like description of the vacuum and that he has a name. XD Great work!

ReplyDeleteI never thought I would have to make this decision. I have 30+ stuffed animals and my mom is telling me to pick out my five favorites and give the rest away. How can you pick just five favorites out of all of your favorites? It's not possible! I'm only eight-years-old; my mom doesn't understand what she's asking me to do. We had so much fun together, my stuffed animals and I. We spent hours playing games like hide-and-seek and I would sleep with them. And I was always there to peacefully end their arguments about who I loved the most because I loved them all each for their comforting, sweet, playful personalities. This is the hardest decision of my life!! Will my stuffed animals understand that I love them even though I'm giving them away? Will they know that I'm being forced to do this deed against my will? I can't believe this happening to me!! But I make my decision. And I say goodbye as I tightly clutch my five remaining stuffed animals. I don't like spring cleaning.
Several years later, I am now 17 and once again I have 30+ stuffed animals. There was nothing my mom could do about it. And no one is going to make me give them away. I love my stuffed animals.

ReplyDeleteWhen I was younger, I watched Toy Story, and I may have taken it a little too seriously:
By the time I was done collecting stuffed animals, all of which were located at the end of my bed, I had near to half a hundred. I would take turns sleeping with each one, I would make sure they were all comfortable, and I treated them as if they were real because of the impression Toy Story left on me. Those days are over, and I have put off that silly practice, but sometimes when I think back upon it, I still feel the happiness and love that radiated from each stuffed animal. Though they be things of inanimate material, they still were very much alive to me. Some things that have happened in our past are meant to prepare us for our future, but other things are simply meant to help us with the present. Those stuffed animals helped me to feel the additional love I needed, and were always where I needed them to be, sitting on the edge of my bed just waiting for me to come and hug them.
I am so glad I wasn't the only little kid that did this. I was positive my toys were going to be sad forever if I didn't pay attention to them. Thanks for sharing!
DeleteI was just like that as a kid too. Thank you for sharing this. I enjoyed reading this.

DeleteI did the exact same thing when I was younger. I would put my toys in a certain place before I left for school and when I came back I would look and see if they moved. At night I would try to sleep with all my stuffed animals but I had too many and I always felt so bad for leaving some out. It's so funny to know that other people did this when they were kids.
DeleteI am before the Toy Story impact, so this slice makes me wonder if my children have done the same thing. It's interesting to see the impact that personification has on our perception of the world. What a powerful literary device!
DeleteThank you McKenzie, Emi, Lauren, and Sister Jackson! I now know that I am not alone in this experience I have shared.:)
DeleteI would write a thousand slices if I could. I really want to.... but this is not Julie's blog, so I will have to settle for... one. Unless Sister Jackson gives me special permission to post the second one I wrote.
ReplyDeleteI think we all have different ways of thinking. Oh sure, there is a difference between the two people, "This is an expertly crafted bridge" and "You, me we jump off bridge!" (Those are actually thoughts from people.) But we're all unique and I've read my fair share of books from several characters perspectives. I think we all think differently. We all speak differently, why are thoughts no different?
Food for thought.
That sounds kinda weird, if you get it, let me know. If you don't, don't think I'm crazy. :)
DeleteJulie, I think that was great! Don't worry about if your writing makes perfect sense to everyone else because like you said we all think and act differently. If you started a blog I'd follow it without hesitation!
DeleteThis is so awesome! I always love books that speak from multiple perspectives because you get the insight from different peoples thoughts! I always think about what other people are thinking, and if anyone thinks the same way I do. I think that when you find that person that thinks the same as you, you have found a best friend.

ReplyDeleteDear Eye,
I am frustrated with you. You are such a drama queen. You always take too long to wake up in the morning. You are a pain. I'll use today as an example. You decided today was a good day to have an allergic reaction to my mascara or maybe you just wanted to see what it was like to have pink sclera. Everything is a little fuzzy in that eye because of it. Seriously, you're so picky. I try one new brand of mascara and you have a meltdown. You need to learn to keep it together.

ReplyDeleteToday I decided that I would do dedicate my slice to whoever said hi to me first, and now I present to you a story about Julie: I don't know how Julie's day started, maybe she shuffled pajama clad and bleary-eyed into the kitchen to enjoy a warm stack pancakes, or maybe she streaked out of the house so fast she only got a bite of cold cereal. I first encountered Julie in seminary I had, I entered the room to see here perched upon her desk, swinging her legs as she chatted with her fellow students . Brother Tolman called the us to our seats and class began, in true Old Testament fashion the lesson was quite gory , but Julie pushed those thoughts out of her mind to make room as she contemplated the birds, the mountains, and the trees on the short stroll back to the school.

DeleteWell gosh, I guess I should say hi to you more often if this is how you treat people that do so!
That's really sweet that you wrote your slice about Julie! She is such a super sweet and friendly person!

ReplyDeleteWell today was one of the best days of the year so far! Me, my "brother" Sergio and my dad all got to go skiing up at sundance. On top of sundance being really fun, we have a ward friend who's company he owns has corporate passes so anyone can take them. We asked this friend and he was more than happy to lend them to us! There was hardly anyone there, there was a fresh layer of powder, and the sun was shining on us making us warm the whole time! It was also Sergio's first time skiing and he got really good! The day was just perfect and went along without any injuries! Next skiing season me and my dad decided we're going to get season passes (like we did 2 years ago) because of today!
Skiing? That sounds like so much fun! I've never gone skiing before but I would love to learn! I'm glad that your day went so well!
DeleteNURDS! Thats what we yell when we play a game called, what a qawinceadence, Nurds. Description of we: my family. How you play Nurds:
ReplyDelete3 or more players.
1 deck of phase cards for each person.
Every player takes 13 cards from their deck and place them face down on the table and flip the first card from your 13 card pill over so you can see the card.
Take 4 cards and place all the cards face up all next to each other.
With your extra cards in your deck you flip 3 over at a time during the game.
Begin the game by putting all the ases out in the middle of the table if you don't have any then as on to other car RDS on the table. You can only add on to the cards if they are the same type of cards so a heart on a heart.
You can also stack on your 4 cards next to your 13 pill but only if it's not the same color as the card that your stacking.
There has to be 4 cards in your 4 cards that are lined up pill at all times.
To win you have to get rid of all your 13 cards and yell Nurds. If you don't yell Nurds and someone else gets out and yelled Nurds then they won.
I'm sorry for how long this one is.
I'm glad your family has a fun thing you do that's special. That was long, but so long as you don't write long ones all the time, we forgive you. Thanks for sharing your game with us.

ReplyDeleteSorry for the lateness - yesterday was a bit crazy.
Roaring, rushing, pounding deluge just outside. The storm is fierce and loud, overwhelming. Inside, we’re safe, dry for now, and I hope it will stay that way. The rain is so thick, and the roads are more like rivers, full of powerful water, deeper every second. The wind tosses the big treetops above us, shaking the enormous branches, ripping through the leaves. The lightning is very bright. The thunder shakes the house, shakes me to my very bones.
No need to apologize for lateness with a slice like this one. I'm thinking it is a miracle you had internet connectivity to post it.

I can't tell you how much I love the spring time. I know it's not spring time just yet but in Illinois the weather is constantly changing. So while it's actually nice for once I'm calling it spring. I love being able to open my window and hear the birds and feel the nice air coming in my room. Also, you know when you have a good experience at a certain time of the year and whenever that time comes around it just makes you super happy? That's me at this time. I love spring so much. It also means summer is coming soon and I really like summer.
Spring and autumn are my favorites now. I used to love summer, and then winter, but now it's the other two in equal measure.
DeleteHave you ever thought about words? Well, today, I was helping out with a small kid, and she said this word that is not a word, "Politeful." Then I started telling myself that is was a word, it just kept passing through my mind! "Politeful, politeful, politeful." Then I was like, THAT HAS TO BE A WORD! No, its not! I then said out loud quietly, "Politeful." Then I was like, OK, that definitely does not sound like a word, but then I thought "What if it is!?" Then I started ALL over again! These words can play lots of tricks on you and your brain!
ReplyDeleteEnglish is a very confusing language. I do that all the time, especially with the word "funner". I know its not a word, but it sounds like it should be, maybe some day it will be.
DeleteI agree haha.
DeletePreach My Gospel is an outstanding book. My brother is serving a mission, and he told me to study Preach My Gospel. He told me it would strengthen my testimony on serving Christ and spreading the gospel. The past week I have given 30 minutes of my time to studying and learning from it. I have felt my testimony grow like the roses in spring. It was grown not only of missionaries, but of the gospel itself.

ReplyDeleteOrange juice is literally the best drink ever! It makes me so happy! My friends and I get into playfully heated arguments about which is better, milk or orange juice. I always win :)

You should win because you are correct! I don't even think that is a fair comparison since orange juice is like the drink of kings! Although, I don't think I would like replacing milk with orange juice. Yuck! Orange juice and Oreos sounds awful.
I was talking to my family after dinner the other night and we were talking about how some of us don't like certain veggies which is very common, but my mom pointed out the fact that once I decided I didn't like something my younger brothers did the same. I hadn't realized until then that this actually was happening! I didn't realize that I had such a big influence over my younger brothers and how much they looked to me and my older siblings for guidance.

DeleteHow do you appreciate the unknown, without being ignorant?
ReplyDeleteThis is a topic I randomly thought of, but I think its important. To an extent, there are things we simply will not know in our lifetimes. Maybe in someone else, but in ours, likely not.
But not pushing towards those answers could delay the movement altogether. So how can we appreciate what we don’t know, but also strive for more answers? Post your ideas in the comments below.

ReplyDeleteThere is deafening silence in the room except from the occasional clicks and humming from the computers. There is a mountain of snacks in the middle of the table in all its glory. There is pizza, soda, and every kids dream food on that table. We all celebrate every time the Mario theme song plays, we get points. We are typing code in our command prompts at the speed of light. We are searching viruses in every file. We are turning the firewall on. After six hours of protecting this computer from any hackers or viruses. We celebrate with our “Computer sun burn” faces and celebrate our first in state glory. This is Cyber Patriot the sport that helps teens get into Cyber security.

At this very moment, as I am sitting here typing, I am watching a bird build a nest. I have a nice up close view since it has decided to build it on top of the wreath hanging on our door. Oh, just now I see that there are two birds working on this task. I see their heads go up and down as they peck at the wreath. They then disappear for a few moments only to return with a new stick each one bigger than the last. What a beautiful sight to behold. The work of God’s hands fulfilling it’s task in this life. May we be like those two birds and fulfill our task God gave us in this life.
I want to talk about duck dynasty. There all a bit old but there funny and sie is my favorite out of jep jace wille phil and many others because he says jack too much. but after each episode they pray over diner, and have a very inspirational quote.
ReplyDeleteI'm a DE student, and have English for 1st Period. I remember the week of Youth Conference in October 2015. That one day of class, I was loving it on that side of the camera. I got to see the teachers in real life all week! I'd never noticed before that day, but I think of the teachers as super famous people. So when I got to the Academy, the whole time, by brain was shouting "I can't believe I'm meeting them in real life!" My brain reacted kinda like how I would imagine my best friend would react if she met Chris Evans or someone like that. These teachers at Liahona are like famous movie actors to me, and I loved to see them in person!
ReplyDeleteThat is the glorious feeling of all DE's who visit the Academy. You put those feelings quite eloquently into words. Thanks!

ReplyDeleteI was going through all the days making sure I posted everyday, and apparently, even though I distinctly remember reading a lot of these posts, I didn't today....
"We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them in mutual weirdness and call it love." -Dr. Seuss
- When I first read this quote I burst out laughing. I later used it for a devotional in Seminary. Everybody chuckled and my seminary teacher asked how on earth I figured out a way to apply that to the Gospel...

DeleteMy mom got some flowers about 4 days ago and they where dying and wilting and my mom couldn't figure out why, well, it was because the water had not been changed and the bottoms of the flower petals where are broken and gross so I cut them and put new water and they perked up so quickly!
ReplyDeleteThe moral of this story is that of flowers are dying, make sure they have water thats fresh! (Also add some lemon essential oil, it makes it even better! Plus, whatever kind of water they suck in makes them smell more like that, so thye will smell lemony and they will un-wilt!)

ReplyDeleteThis one is for my sister Jessica
My sister Jessica opened her mission call on Sunday March 6, 2016 witch was three days ago cause it’s a Wednesday. And my sister Jessica is going to Ecuador and speaking the Spanish language. I’m excited for her she is leaving on June 1st to the Columbian MTC.
That's really exciting. My sister recently got called to Berlin, Germany and is now serving there. Missions are awesome.

The air bit, the snow crunched and the fog flowed like waves breaking on the shore as I added the pointy teeth to my window masterpiece inside my desert hot oasis car. I could tell we were coming to a stop as my dad slowed the cramped car then pulled a hard left into the vets’ parking lot. The sound of the keys coming out of the ignition tickled my ears yet pierced my heart because it was one step closer. The manual sliding door flung open spilling out the, what seemed to be, five Michelin man kids, since we were wrapped head to toe in our winter clothes. Our parents led all five ducklings single file into the small cave like office. Just as the door shut behind us the vet came out from the back with Luke our loyal 12-year-old golden retriever by his side, still limping. The cancer had eaten most of his leg and was starting to spread into his chest and the rest of his body. Luke waddled to the door we just entered with his tail wagging excited to leave, except this time he wouldn’t be leaving. Tears forced their way out my eyes as dad lead Luke over to the vet, who was now holding a syringe and electric razor. All of the kids went over one by one and threw their arms around the neck of the long-time dying friend. As I held him more tears found their way out and onto his golden coat. I didn’t want to let go because that was the last time I would hold my dear friend. As my hands slid off of him and stepped back to my family the vet shaved a small patch of fur off and then injected the syringe as well as the fluid. Luke’s breathing slowed as did his blinking then all of the sudden he exhaled and closed his eyes at the same time to never inhale or open his eyes again. As a family, we all began to weep. We then filed out the door once more; the cold didn’t phase us. The thirty-minute car ride was ridden with silence only broken with the blast of the heater and the frequent sniffle of sadness.
In the early 6 months of 2014 (because I can't remember the exact date ) I got to meet and go to a concert of Lindsey Stirling. It was really cool. If you've never heard of her you should look her up, she can really rock out on the violin. Dub step, rock, medley, you name it she can play it. The only bad part of the concert is they had alcoholic drinks there and we were in the very front of the audience and all the drunk people kept crowding in front, it was really hard to see
ReplyDeleteI remember in first grade, we made 'Flat Stanley's', and mine was called 'Flat Annabelle'. her hair was made out of brown yarn, and her pant were made out of jeans that are cut up, and I drew her eyes and smile. I sent it to my cousins in California and they took it to some fun place. they took picture with it and then sent it back to us with the pictures. I really had a lot of fun making that, and it was such a great memory making, sending, and receiving Flat Annabelle.
ReplyDeleteI recently started reading Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson. I've heard for years that Sanderson is an absolutely amazing author, but haven't picked up one of his books until now. I haven't read this great of a book in a really long time. Something about his writing style and the characters is just captivating. It's about a fantasy world that is ruled by a tyrant who is believed to be a "god". No one is powerful enough to dethrone him, so the people live in slavery. The story follows a young girl named Vin and a rebel name Kelsier as they try to change their society. They also have powers, which is super cool and adds an interesting element to the plot. I haven't finished it yet, but it's definitely worth the read if you have time.

DeleteMy friend and me were hiking behind my house the other day and having a good time. We came across a steep cement ramp that went into another uphill ramp. Seeing that we immediately knew that during our spring break we were going to have to take our skateboards and bikes down the hill. In just a few days we are going o do this and I am super excited for it.
ReplyDeleteWhen I’m alone, I like to sing. I try to sing like normal people with a smooth and clear voice but it hurts my throat. However, when I sing in my normal voice it feels more natural (what a surprise) Because I can sing in a clear voice people like that better so when I try to sing with my real voice people don’t like it. So I only truly sing when I am alone. I don’t have a problem with people not liking my voice, I just like to be myself whenever I can.
