ReplyDeleteMy brother went on his mission July 7, 2013. I hadn’t thought I was going to cry as soon as he stepped out of the car with his polished suitcase and well-tailored suit clearly noticeable in the queue of people. I hadn't even known him as a person compared to what the potential could have been since he had always hung out with my older sister. Oh, if I could have more memories than the few I have to hold onto. I have already missed my chance to know him. He will go to college, find a job, get married, and then begin his own circle of life as soon as he has returned. He has matured and will not be the same compared to before he went. I have been having visions that he has already returned with a wide smile displaying his happiness in seeing us. But then I wake up and quickly realize it had been the same dream I had been having for a couple weeks. It is both exciting like a Christmas present and nerve-racking like going to the pulpit to bear our testimonies (well, for most people… I don’t know about Jord-ah-n…) What is it like when a sibling returns from a two-year mission?
Your slice reminds me of when I saw my favorite aunt for the first time after her mission. We were at a family reunion at El Capitan, California right on beach. I was so excited to see her, and then she came down the steps to the campground area holding some man's hand and never left his side. I felt jealous--so jealous that I didn't speak to her again for a long time. She's been married to my uncle for almost 30 years now, but I'll never forget how upset I was when she no longer had time to play.
DeleteI totally felt the same way when my aunt got married!

ReplyDeleteI'm a writer. I LOVE writing. Books, music, lyrics, scripts, cards etc. And since I'm a writer, I'm working on a song that I am accompanying myself on my guitar with. Here is what I have to so far for my lyrics:
V1. I---- know a place - Filled with castles - Made of cry-stal tears.
And deep - within the fortress - there lays a boy… afraid to face. His. Fears….
Chorus: Cause the winds they blow against the walls that shelter the boy within. Hiding from the things that already have been. Already have… Be-----en
Please let me know if you have any ideas for a second verse, and also: please be honest if you think that it's weird or needs help! I really want this song to be good, and that can't happen if I'm writing in a lie. Thank you! :)
That is really good! I think you should totally make a second verse!

I'll brainstorm today about the second verse, post my ideas tomorrow, and maybe you guys could help me pick something out? That would be fantastic! Thanks again for all of your support!

The weekend flew by faster than jet plane. Lesson planning, youth conference, cleaning, prom, writing, showers, morningside, choir practice, church, meetings, girls camp kickoff, and all in between meal preparation and eating, but most of all, wishing so hard I could get a delicious nap but never finding a way to take one.
ReplyDeleteWhat makes naps so fantastic? I'm pretty sure naps are like a treat for our brains. We could keep going, but if we can take a little rest, we are rejuvenated, ready for more of the things that we have to do to keep going.

DeleteLast year we had scout camp at this place called camp grimes. The first day we got settled in, got ready for our classes, and got to know the camp grounds a bit. I was really excited for the classes to start the next day. I did my first two classes (Archery and Emergency Prepareness) and then I went off to lunch with my friends. While we were eating, there was a rumour going around, a rumour that a guy escaped from a prison nearby the camp. None of us believed it so we just went about our day normally. About half an hour later everyone at the camp had to meet at the mess hall for an importnt announcement. The leaders announced that there was a man that had escaped from prison nearby the camp, they put us on lockdown, and they stationed policemen outside the entrances of the camp. We were all scared, we didn't know what to do, and one of our scouts even went into shock. None of us slept well that night and to make it worse some of the older scouts were going into other scouts tents and scaring them. (Thats how the one scout went into shock) When we woke up in the morning the camp leaders announced that the man was captured and sent away. We went on with the rest of the week like nothing happened and we knew that we would all be laughing about it soon.

I love writing. I hate math. Last night, I had a dream that math was not math, but was writing instead. Sounds weird, but it was a dream, and those can be wacky. Like, in its essence, math was no longer math. I was so happy and I zoomed through it. I was done with college math before I was out of junior high (which is only a couple more months). Once you get to pre-calculas and calculas, it gets funner because there is a point in learning what is being taught. You get to apply in your own life, not stuff like "what does 'x' equal." I remember one time when I was about six or seven years old, my parents went out on a date. They had a neighbor come and babysit me, my sister, and my older brother. After we had dinner that night, we ate popsicles. After I had finished mine, I decided it would be "cool" to keep my stick in my mouth. My brother and I decided to play "in-door volleyball." He started before I was ready. He threw the ball up and when I turned around, it smacked me right in the face, launching my popsicle stick and puncturing a whole in my throat. My parents called just minutes after this happened, and asked how everything was going. My babysitter just said that I had been scratched a little but I was ok...which was funny cause my throat was bleeding and throbbing. When they hung up, she looked at me and decided that I should eat some nice chunky oatmeal. It hurt. I haven't been able to eat strawberry oatmeal ever since. By the time my parents got home, my throat was still bleeding and they decided to take me to the E.R. The doctor couldn't do anything other than say I couldn't eat any whole foods for a few months. It wasn't fun.

That doesn't sound fun. I remember one time in kindergarten we were eating popsicle sticks during recess as a special treat, and one of the other kids broke his stick in half, and tried to see how far he could shove both halves down his throat. The teacher thought he was "playing dead" at first, because he was sort of a prankster at the time, and she also had no idea that he had a broken popsicle stick in his mouth. He went to the E.R.

I moved forward but the straw stayed in my mouth causing it to launch itself into my uvula. I quickly coughed it out and then ran to the bathroom to gargle.

ReplyDeleteTo clarify, my slice yesterday was a lot more dramatic than it really is. I was trying to be creative with words and such, but my situation is not nearly as bleak as I wrote it out to be. I am sorry if I gave everyone the wrong impression of who I am.
Today's Slice:
You have two ears, and one mouth,. What does this mean? It means that you should listen to your friends and family twice as much as you talk. If you really want to help a friend get through a problem, telling them what to do will not be as effective as just listening to them. Listening to a friend will help them get their feelings out. If you tell your friend what to do, then they don't have time to get their feelings, out. If you listen to your friends, they will get their problem fixed and become better friends with you because of it.
I'm glad that you're okay, Brady. And it's okay if you were that dramatic. :)
DeleteTo anyone who is reading this because they need advice/help or they have a friend who needs help:
Having someone who just listens to you crying or screaming or ranting or venting or anything is so helpful. I don't know about you, but I don't like sharing those ugly bits of myself. I'm insecure about my insecurities. Knowing that I can go to someone and they won't hate, judge, sneer at, or pity me is good. When I'm hurting, and hurting bad inside, I need love. I need someone who loves enough to listen and to help.
As I said yesterday, sometimes the best person to listen and to help is the Lord. Tell Him the things that you're too frightened or ashamed or angry about or hurt to tell anyone else. Please tell Him. He loves you and me unconditionally, and He will always listen to us. I have a rock-solid testimony of this. He will listen, and He will answer. I can't tell you how He will answer because each time I have gone to Him, He has answered differently.
Prayer and the Atonement are two of the most powerful things we have. Use them. don't push them away time after time. Use them, please. The Lord will listen and love, I PROMISE YOU.
I desperately hope that I have helped someone.
and I thank you Brady for writing these posts that inspired me to share :)

DeleteI too have always thought about being a toddler forever. It seemed like there were no problems back then, no worries, no responsibility, no school (yeh-heh-hes), and me and my family were all together and happy. But... to be five and carefree would result in no development, no strengthening, and no improvement. To be stuck in an innocent stage would destroy the very Plan of Salvation that was proposed in the pre-existence. However,... I know we will be able to experience the same five-year-old, care-free life like we had before on this life when the plan is over and we are living forever and ever in a state of perfection and eternal joy.

DeleteHigh heels that make your feet ache, globs of mascara that make your eye lashes droop, pounds of foundation that make you look fake, curling irons and straighteners that suck your time away, And hair products to keep you hair the way you want it. I always ask myself why I put myself through the pain of using this stuff. I also ask other girls why they put themselves through the pain of using that stuff. They all say its to impress people! That's the best answer they came up with. Perhaps you guys can shed some light on the subject
ReplyDeleteCharity P. (3rd) (DE)

DeleteI like make up because it makes me feel pretty. I like curling my hair for the same reason. I wear high heels because they are hand-me-downs, and I don't have any other church shoes. I am self-conscious, but I don't really try to impress other people.
:D
DeleteI rarely wear make-up (I can literally count on one hand the amount of times that I have worn it. No joke or exaggeration.) so I can't vouch for nor explain that one.
The high-heels *guilty smile* I wear them because they make me taller. I feel taller and more grown-up. I feel a little bit more ready-to-face-the-world and confident, I suppose.
I don't do straighteners or curlers, really, but I do spend a lot of time on my hair. The reason why: I feel like my hair is the crown that the Lord has given me, and I'm proud of it. I spent 5 years growing it out - why shouldn't I be able to spend some time making it look nice?
I like how, when I do it differently, it changes my entire appearance. A bouncy curly ponytail gives a confident girly look. A braid makes me look prepared and collected. Loose hair - my hair is about 2 feet long, btw - makes me feel like a princess.
I like spending time on my appearance because it shows that I care about myself, and it shows that I appreciate the beauty the Lord has gifted me with. Also, it helps me feel self-assured, poised and - as Erin said - pretty. My appearance isn't the only thing that helps me feel this was, of course, but it's one of the elements.
Thanks for sharing your reasons you do some of this stuff. I must say they are much better reasons than most girls would give :)
DeleteI honestly don't spend anytime on my hair and don't really wear makeup. Its mostly out of pure laziness.
DeleteEver played the "I have never" game? Now, I haven't done a lot of things, but my secret weapon has been taken from me. For the longest time, I used to be able to say that I had never been to Disneyland, and that would get everyone. Haha! But now it gets me. Last year I had the opportunity to go to Disneyland as part of a drama competition trip that Liahona participated in. Honestly, it wasn't what I thought it would be; I was just a little bit disappointed. Not that it was less grand or mind blowing; I just thought that there would be more rides; like a lagoon type setting. But it was still really cool. I had a lot of fun going on the rides and walking around. I also saw and met a lot of Disney characters. My favorite Disney rides have to be Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Peter Pan's Flight; especially the latter. I loved flying over the different areas; especially the one when you're in the sky over Never Land. It was so beautiful and it kind of felt real. Super cool!!! And then it ended.

ReplyDeleteI didn't learn how to read until last year. Apparently my left eye was reading fine but my right eye wasn't moving when I tried to read anything. So as you can imagine that created problems. So I decided to participate in a program that would improve my reading. I took a placement test to see exactly where I was in my reading sills and abilities. Turns out, my right and left brain weren't interacting like they should when you read, they weren't connecting. So my instructor would give me mental and physical exercises to do every week that would connect the two sides of my brain. This didn't only improve my reading, but it improved my ability to participate in sports like soccer, baseball, and other such activities. When I started the program I was reading below a first grade level. When I finished the program in 9th grade I could read fluently at an 11th grade level. Reading is on my mind right now, so I decided to put in my blurb about how I feel about it. I look at my home library shelf, and of fun, fantasy fiction, I can honestly say I have read every single one of them.

I am usually working the floor and her son is on the cash register, but her son is not coming this time! So I have to be on the cash register! I don't know how this is going to go down! I'm hoping I will get the hang of it quickly! Wish me luck!

The best part is that my mom and dad have hired her! We get to have Stephanie help my younger siblings with school, help drive us places, and just be my mom's right hand girl. She started today and it just makes me so happy that she is around! :D
That makes me think of my brother who will be coming home in 4 or 5 months. I just can't wait!

I love Sunday drives, yesterday we went on one with my parents and my best friend coming along with us. When I asked my best friend if she wanted to come she was very happy to say yes but she asked where we were going.
ReplyDeleteI told her we did not know that’s why it’s called a “drive”
She replied that she wasn’t sure that would be dictionary term but that it sounded fun either way.
I then sent back that this was my family we were talking about and that if you looked up in the dictionary the word spontaneous you would find a picture of us under the word.
I love that beyond that fact I have a loving family who enjoys the little things I have a best friend I have grown up with my whole life and even though I moved we still do these kinds of fun spontaneous things together.
I’m grateful for our Father in heaven who gives me the blessings of the people in my life whom I enjoy being with.

ReplyDeleteFor my slice of life I am going to speak my mind! I'm gonna let my feelings all out in these song lyrics. I love this song! It honestly helps me to cool of and stuff
ReplyDeleteSo, Here it goes! (Please imagine the power of this song in order for the full effect)
Single Ladies by Beyonce
All the single Ladies!
All the single ladies!
All the single ladies!
All the single ladies!
All the single ladies!
Now put your hands up!
Up in the club! Just broke up!
Doing my own little thing!
Decided to dip! Now you're gonna trip!
Cause another brother noticed me!
I'm up on him! He up on me!
Don't pay him any attention!
Just cried my tears! For three good years!
Ya can't be mad at me!
'cause if you liked it than you shoulda put a ring on it!
If you liked it you shoulda put a ring on it!
Don't be mad when you see that he want it
If you like it then you shoulda put a ring on it!
Oh Oh Oh! Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh! Oh Oh Oh!
These lyrics really touch me because they remind me of the woman I wanna be and.... Just kidding :) This song just makes me wanna dance. The dance to this song is so much fun. And I love it so hard.
Plus, it reminds me of good girl power and how I want a powerful woman :)

ReplyDeleteIt's amazing all the things that we can do when we really put our mind to it. We have physical strength that we don't really realize. For me, soccer is really pushing that out. It's a lot harder then I thought it would be. I'm not sure if it is the same with mental strength, I guess that's a lot harder to put out. With me at least I feel like I am able to push though physical things easier and make it to the end. But, when it comes to mental strength I don't think anyone is truly strong in the subject. I know that for me smiling through the day and keeping to yourself works just fine most of the time. It's completely different when it comes to those two strengths for me, I guess that there isn't much you can do about it but work on it. But yeah. At least we know that everything that happens does for a reason and we are all going to be just fine in the end.

ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to be a writer. The prime goal would be to write a novel that people would actually want to read, but honestly I would settle for writing a comic if others would like it. I just want people to see my ideas, to read my stories, to explore my worlds alongside my characters, hopefully characters that people can relate to.
I also have wanted to create a book. It just sounds exciting and worth it. I commend you on your desire.
DeletePeriod 3 I am not a writer, but when I was about 12, I used to write about an enchanted girl with magical powers to protect and guard the earth. It thought it was so cool; However, when I found how many errors I made, I didn't want to be a writer again.
DeleteI remember those Saturdays when I looked in the closet to see the mountains of board games. There were so many of them all stacked up and new. Except for one which had been worn and torn throughout all the years. I looked at the box to read the name of the board game but to my dismay the name and other information on the box was so worn it was unreadable. So I picked it up with interest to find out the contents of the box. As I was about to open it my hands suddenly froze and I realized before I had opened it that this might be “THE GAME” that is so feared in my family. Mustering up as much courage as I could I opened the box to reveal the contents of…Of…OF… MONOPOLY! Suddenly terror struck I stood there just gazing at the contents but more importantly the instructions with the name MONOPOLY along with the ever so scary and fat RICH UNCLE PENNYBAGS who is that round old man with a mustachio in a top hat who serves as the mascot of the game MONOPOLY! I cowered at what I had just seen. I quickly ran into my bedroom and before I knew it I was under my covers. Only seconds later my brother came into the room and said those 6 fateful words: “Do you want to play monopoly with me”? There erupted a loud and evil cackling laugh following those words. I then remembered those Saturdays when I had lost every time to the most viscous and evil Property Owner of all time… My Brother! I can’t quite remember what happened after that for it was all so very dark and dreary. So I have learned to forget it.

ReplyDeleteMy great aunt, Ginny, was visiting with my great uncle, Carroll, a few weeks ago. While they were here, Aunt Ginny told me about this website that is connected to Family Search that tells you if you are related to famous people. That includes prophets, past and present General Authorities, presidents of the United States, early LDS members, pilgrims from the Mayflower, European royalty, and more. She showed me the website and I typed In my name and Family Search info, and this huge list of people popped up! The top of the list starts with the people you are most closely related to, without the removal of marriages and things like that. Well guess who one of the first people was? William Bradford!! (If you don't know who this is, William Bradford was one of the famous Pilgrims of the Mayflower, he wrote a history of the pilgrims, was governor of Plimoth Plantation for about 30 years, started the first Thanksgiving, and was an extremely religious man.)
William Bradford is my 9th great grandpa! Isn't that cool? My mom and I even traced the names of the people after him all the way back to my grandparents and they are all accurate! We can't believe that my grandma did not stumble upon this in all of her studies of our family's genealogy.
Can you imagine (if it were not for William Bradford) if we did not have our annual meal of turkey and stuffing and cranberry sauce of Thanksgiving? Just a thought... ;)

I always look forward to going home and watching Liahona videos. I love how the whole school is LDS so there is always clean and uplifting language. I love that each lesson is accompanied by the Holy Ghost and I always end the classes feeling inspired. ReplyDelete"Seeking to become." (like the Savior)
I think there are many ways we can seek to become like the Savior. None of us are perfect but we are all seeking to become better people. I believe that in order for us to become better we need to follow the example of the Savior; he is the perfect role model. Jesus Christ was/is perfect. By looking at the example he set we can reflect on our lives and see how we can change to become more righteous.
One attribute I admire of the Savior is,"Kindness." Jesus was kind and loving toward everyone. At times He had to correct people but he did it out of love. In, "The Living Christ" there is a part that says, "He went about doing good yet he was despised for it. . . He walked the roads of Palestine, healing the sick, causing the blind to see and raising the dead." I like this part because it shows that Jesus Christ was out doing good for other people yet people looked down on him because of it. He was always thinking of others and not himself. He knew his purpose and he knew that some would accept him and others would reject him. Even though Jesus knew his role in life it was not easy. He still had to withstand the temptations of Satan and experience what life on earth is like. I am truly grateful for his sacrifice here on earth that allows us to have the opportunity to repent and live with him again. "His way is the path that leads to happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come. God be thanked for the matchless gift of His divine Son." (The Living Christ)
Thanks for reading! :)

I listen to a lot of Disney music, Taylor Swift, Imagine Dragons, One Direction, Jason Maraz, Movie soundtracks, Piano guys, Christmas music and 80’s music. Really anything I find worthy of being sung into a whisk. It drives my sister nuts! She thinks I’m crazy half of the time. ReplyDeleteDo not worry, nor be anxious
For what you'll eat or wear,
For God knows just what we need
So we need not live in fear
We needn't strive, nor seek these things,
For God provides what we need
And we shall live in His provision,
From His Abundance, we shall feed
So do not worry about tomorrow,
Just take one day at a time,
For tomorrow has worries of its own,
We need to leave it behind
We need to seek God's kingdom first
Then all these things will be given,
Also, to seek His righteousness
And keep our eyes on Heaven.
I think this is really good to keep in mind that heavenly father has a plan for all of us and he has trusted us to be able to have kids and to raise them in a good home and family because that is part of the plan and we should all be respectful to every one because you never know what is happening at there home.

Down here in South Texas, “The Valley” everyone calls it, life is…interesting. We live just ten miles from the Mexican border so it’s really heavily influenced by the Mexican culture. Whenever people ask me where I live I tell them, “pretty much Mexico.” After living in Latin America for six years I was really excited to come back to the great U.S. of A and live somewhere where English is spoken normally and have clean stores and better drivers, well that last one doesn’t really exist anywhere. But when we moved back to The States it was sort of a tease because, yes, technically we do live in The States but not really. Spanish is the language you hear everywhere, the stores still have stuff laying all over the ground and the radio stations are all mariachi, besides two channels. Don’t get me wrong I respect the culture and love the people but I just never got used to it and I would like to live somewhere with American culture, I’ve had my fill of Latin culture and I’m ready to go back to what I’m used to. Maybe The Lord wants my family to really get used to this culture for some reason that is beyond me; I’ll just press on with patience.

ReplyDeleteMonday. I cannot express my dislike for Mondays. Nothing of note has really happened to me today so Im just going to tell a story of something that happened a few years back. I was invited over to a friend’s house for a party. When I arrived I noticed I only knew a few people there. Although I am not a very social person I wasn't bothered because “uncomfortable” social situation don’t bother me like most people. There was one guy however, who seemed to decide since I was small and skinny he could push me around a little. Now he did not bully me but he did put himself above me. I found this interesting because this never happens to me. I was known amongst my friends for being as they put it “unbreakable” when it came to pain. This guy apparently did not get the memo. Now I had no reason to get into a fight with him nor did I want to but I was not going to put up with crap. I needed to find a way to show that I could hold my own without making an enemy of him. Since this was a party with nothing but guys my opportunity came quickly. Everyone started taking turns having wrestling matches. I said to him “lets see how long it takes you to pin me” There was a lot of strategy behind my choice of words. By challenging him I showed he did not intimidate me but by verbally acknowledging that he could beat me he felt like he had nothing to prove. We took our places and began. I quickly noticed he was not a good wrestler but my plan was not to beat him. If I beat him he would have felt like he would have something to prove and he would not have left me alone. I dragged out the match for a long time tiring him out. About 7 minuets in I slowed down so he could over power me. Breathing hard he said “you are a good wrestler” rather than lying by telling him he was good I just said “thanks, you are strong”. He left me alone for the rest of the night.
I recently got a camping hammock. This neat little tool lets me sleep “anywhere” without a tent. It keeps your back from hurting because you avoid sleeping on the ground. Ive used it a couple times and it’s real nice because it packs to the size of a fist; something a tent can’t do. But the sad news is that I’m moving to Denver. It’s an interesting place. It doesn’t have a whole lot of anything at all. No beautiful streams, shaded trails, lush green vegetation everywhere like where I live now. It’s a treeless scrub land with dirt, a desert if you will. It’s not really a desert but compared to where I live now, it is a Sahara equivalent. I live in a place that at times seems like a rainforest, with so many trees u have a hard time not running into them. I now have this almost useless hammock that I have prized so much. My tent is inadequate to, it’s large and very tall, has no tent stakes, and will blow in the wind like it wasn’t designed for. For now I hope living in a desert will be better that I imagine it will be.

ReplyDeleteI would like to give credit where credit is due. Thank you, internet for saving me at least three million times. I don't even know how many times I would have failed without it. Literally, almost every essay I've ever written, I found at least some of that information on the internet. The internet has taught me lots of interesting facts that will probably never be useful in my lifetime, I bet you didn't know sloths occasionally grab onto their own arms thinking it is a branch, then they fall to their deaths. Guess where I found that little gem?. The internet. It is arguably the greatest thing ever. You cant deny it.

ReplyDeleteI've been working on dress designs lately, and I've got some pretty good ideas. One day I would love to have my own clothing design and share it with the whole world. When I'm go on a mission, its kind of hard to find long modest skirts, so I was thinking why not just make a bunch of them and 'ill be set.
So lately I have been stressing out about school a lot (as in not eating, sleeping, or talking.) Because there is this thing that you can apply to and they will Seymour off to a country of your choosing over the summer to learn the language and the culture all expenses paid but, you need to have really good grades. So today I was having a particularly hard day and I had a epiphany, "I don't need to stress about school. I will give my education one hundred percent effort and if it don't work out than it wasn't meant to be. It's no reason to disconnect myself from my friends and family." So I thought that this message might be useful to other people who are struggling. So I hoped it helped.

ReplyDeleteAn experience i had playing TF2. One day i was playing tf2 when a bunch of snipers started spawncamping my team. For some reason no one had the common sense to countersnipe them so the task fells on me. They had three snipers and i was the only sniper on my team. But did those numbers bother me? heck no! They came at me and they all fell, like freakin flies. I was headshotting like crazy! and i usually suck at sniper. So thus the day was saved and i was a hero.
Have you ever thought about what the world would be like if dinosaur still lived here. You could never go any ware without worrying about getting eaten or you're house getting smashed. I mean other then that it would be pretty awesome
ReplyDeleteToday my mom bought The Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies because she didn't get to see it in the movie theater. So after my siblings went to bed my parents and I started watching it. Ten minutes into the movie, my dad and I stared to spoil it because we had already seen it so my mom banned us from talking for the rest of the movie. The third movie isn't my favorite because it was a big war scene the entire movie.

ReplyDeleteFlying. It's a lot like life. You go up and then come down. Quick. And then you slam into the ground. Hard. I'd like to quote a general authority. "If your life is going perfect for you, just wait." - Deiter F. Uchtdorf. In an airplane, you work your way to the top, linger for some time, and at some point you have to come down. The difference is, if you fly your plane well, the end destination is much better than the adversary. The adversary. Flight school = the scriptures.

ReplyDeleteThis quote/picture reminds me of something a General Authority once said. I don't remember who it was, but he said something to the effect that life is comparable to taking a hike. Most of your surroundings are dull and mundane most of the time, and only rarely do we get to see beautiful views off the trail or looking down into a valley. In this life, we're all seeking to become like Heavenly Father. Sometimes, our journey through life is mundane and tedious. In order to help us press forward, I think we need to not only find beauty in the magnificent views but also in the mundane things. Things that seem mundane can become beautiful. For example, Scarlet Pimpernel is a plant that commonly grows along roads. It looks just life any old plant, but if you look closely, you can see tiny, scarlet flowers. A lot of people overlook this flower, yet it still has beauty.

ReplyDeleteMy mom and dad both have very busy callings in church right now. As I write this my dad is heading off to a meeting an hour and a half away and he won’t be back until 11:00 PM tonight (6 hours from now). Meanwhile, my mom is getting her sharing time prepared for this weekend as well as the countless other items on her to-do list for today. Needless to say, we’ve been very busy lately. There have been times when I wonder if it’s all worth it or not. But Heavenly Father is helping us get through this busy time and I can definitely recognize the blessings that he’s pouring down upon us.
