Slice of Life: DAY 3

Remember that you are writing a snippet of your life, a slice, not giving us the whole pie, so write well but write with brevity.

After you post your slice, strive to comment on at least three other slices.

How to get entries into the raffle at the end of the challenge:
  1. Post your slice here BY 9 PM (MDT). For each time you post, you get an entry.
  2. Comment on other slices at anytime throughout the challenge. For every five thoughtful comments that you make, you get an entry.
  3. Slice every day for the entire month (31 days), and you will get an entry into a special drawing.

  1. My dreams last night were confusing and ran together, and I can't make sense of them. The confused feeling is lingering as I continually go back in my thoughts and try to work through the jumble of words, feelings and people that my subconscious weaved through my head during the night and carelessly left strewn about for me to try to piece together in the morning. It's weighing a bit on my mind, with some of the specific parts sticking out in my memory. It makes me wish that my conscious self could come up with ideas as well as my subconscious self. Maybe then I could finish a story!

  2. Last Sunday, my branch was invited to a "mock MTC" activity that another ward in my stake hosted. It started out with what was basically a "welcome to the MTC" message, and shortly after we received our "mission calls." We were either called to the Ukraine Kiev mission or to a Romanian mission. When we got our "calls," we split up and went to a language learning class to learn a snippet of the language spoken in that mission. After the quick class, we all joined in the gym to hear stories about the power of conversion told by several adults in the ward. Then we all went back to the relief society room and watched a beautiful church video about the Atonement that included parts of two talks, one given by President Eyring, and the other by Elder Holland. The meeting concluded with the testimonies about being a missionary of my branch president and one of the stake presidency leaders. It was an activity that I really enjoyed and it was a great way to sort of prepare for our own missions someday. :)

    3. That sounds like a little thing I did called missionary week a long time ago...
only we didn't get to do lots of the cool stuff, like learn the language or anything. Instead it was like we went on our missions to different people in the ward, and got to eat food at their house and teach a lesson. I love that the church is giving us lots of resources to prepare for missions in the future, and also to just prepare us for life.

That sounds like so much fun! I had a similar activity that we did for youth conference (last year). Every ward got called to the mission that their bishop went to and we all met up in a room as a wards. Our bishop shared a few stories about his mission and a treat that he liked from his mission. We met the next day and got assigned to "companions" and we went out to a few people house's as companionship's and shared a message with the family's we visited. It was a lot of fun! :) (btw if you look in the 2015 March New Era you can read about my stakes Youth Conference missionary experience! It's titled, "Member Missionary Task Force." If any of you are interested!)

    11. That is so awesome!! In my stake we do a mock MTC every 2 years once your 14. It begins in the afternoon and lasts for a night and another full day. It's always such a great learning experience and I always feel stronger when I leave. They put so much thought and prayer into the activity. They assign and mail mission letters and then your prayerfully assigned a companion. It is a trial at times and we even teach the first discussion to mock investigators. I learn a great deal about myself and others. Really and awesome post

  3. This is a poem I wrote a year or two ago

    telephone brownies-true story

I read the definition of “brownie” out loud
    --
    my
sister didn’t like it, she doesn’t enjoy nuts
    ---
    ---
    the disliking-of-nuts silence
    caused me to write a
new definition that is more pleasing,
    and without nuts

I thought it went perfectly with slice of life, and wanted to share it with everyone.

We walk in, the aroma of breakfast food is overwhelming.
He said, "I'll be with us in just a bit."
    After awhile, I give up.
I sit on a hard cushioned bench.
    I wait.
I play on my phone to pass the time.
    Fifteen minutes,twenty minutes pass by.
    People are filing in.
    Groups of people are waiting.
People start to finish and leave.
    Empty tables start appearing.
    We are still waiting.
    People get impatient.
It's not worth the wait to them.
    I'm still here.
    I'm still waiting.
    Thirty minutes go by.
    Forty minutes have passed.
    "Power" he calls.
    No word sounded more glorious.
He leads us to a table.
    We sit.
    We wait.
We joke and laugh to pass the time.
    More people are seated.
They get their food before us.
I start to worry the wait will never be over.
At last, the wait is over.
Only to be disappointed by a cold stack of pancakes.
    I push past that.
I nothing can ruin this for me.
I poor cold syrup on my cold pancakes and laugh.
    It's," National Pancake Day!"
    I get free pancakes.
    What's better than free food?
I cut into my pancakes and dig in.
    A short time later. . .
    My plate is empty.
The pancakes are gone and I'm stuffed.
Was it worth what seemed the never ending wait?
    Yes!
I slip a few dollars into the charity box as I walk out.
    I look back,
    "Farewell IHOP.
    It's been an interesting adventure.

  9. Wednesday night we had a young womens dodgeball game. I was kind of upset because we were going to play kickball but the weather messed it up and I didn't really like dodgeball. When we started I got out a lot and sometimes on purpose, but after a while there was a time when it was just me and my best friend left against like 10 people on the other team. I was thinking "oh great" because the last thing I wanted to do was be last on the team against a lot of people. But my friend and I were working together and ended up getting three people out before she was hit. and after that, even though I didn't win any games, I learned how to throw the ball in a way that catches people by surprise, I also learned that I was REALLY good at dodging, and I learned that just because it doesn't seem like our kind of thing, or it seems boring, we should give it a cance because if we don't then we could miss out of some (like I did) or all of the fun and won't be able to possibly find hidden talents.

  10. This little poem I wrote explains today/life.

Swiftly now it starts to blow,
And then it comes, the frigid snow.
The weather is no longer warm,
It fades away, replaced by storm.

Oh how much it gives me pain,
To miss the spring and pleasant rain,
Oh how much I’d give up for,
    The wondrous scent of Petrichor.

Yet, seasons come and seasons go,
    Sometimes rain, and sometimes snow;
We must have dark to love the light,
We must have wrong to know the right.

  12. I always feel a release when I sit down to knit. The tension of the day leaves my shoulders and I throw myself into the yarn. I absorb the texture, the color, the smell; I imagine the finished product and I begin. Suddenly the magic of creation is all around me. I glance at the pattern and work more stitches. My troubles fall into a neat order; I search through them and lay them to rest. There's something hypnotic about the dance my fingers perform with the yarn. Amazing how so much is happening as I sit on a chair.

I remember, not to long ago, when I went to the temple with my class from school. It was the first time I had been to the Timpanogos Utah Temple. It was a really nice and beautiful temple. It was really cool because my our history teacher was working there and he got to escort us to the baptistry. I could feel the spirit as i was doing baptisms for the dead.

I remember I had a recurring dream I had when I was little. It would start out with some of my friends and I swinging on a swing set. Suddenly, in a horror movie-esque way, they were gone. All that was left were the swings swaying slowly back and forth. A large, dark shadow looms over me. I turn to see a large red tyrannosaurus wearing biker gear. To which then it picked me up, and I woke up. It terrified me as a kid, but now I can't help but laugh.

Mandolin's are the coolest instruments ever, but it's even cooler when you get one for free. I was at sunday dinner with my family when my uncle pulled out the nicest looking mandolin I'd ever seen. 16. It is interesting how much responsibility and independence go hand in hand. Some people may say that kids should not be trusted with certain things or tasks, when really, sometimes trusting them could bring the responsibility they seem to be lacking. When a child feels that someone else truly trusts them to take upon an important task, they will most likely step it up. If they are always treated as irresponsible, they most likely won't want to shake that treasured trust off their shoulders. Even though this is not 100% accurate all the time, I have found it good to consider when dealing with siblings. :)

Another day has come, and soon will go away.
    why don't they stay?
    it's foul play,
    how the days
    all seem to stray6.
it feels like each and every day
that my own time I do mislay,
and soon it will be gone away
before I can make it stay.
this is an evil game to play,
    you mean old time,
    stealing my day,
    going away
    on the railway
    of past and future Wednesdays,
    and I don't have the right-of-way
when you, dear time, do fade away.
the day has come, and soon will stray,
and though it's short, there is a way,
to beat the time before it strays.
    the way,
    if I might say,
    is that you may,
if you try hard, seize the day.
    and everything will be okay,

Today was a very interesting day, I was more tired than usual, and I frequently kept forgetting how to spell my name. I came out of seminary, and there was a blizzard which caused me to twist my ankle. After school I play lacrosse for 2 hours everyday, I was really hoping I wouldn't have to play in this freezing cold weather. But of course my assumptions were incorrect and I had to go to practice. My coaches made us do 14 full field sprints, which is exactly 120 yards. I got home later, and realized that my day wasn't exactly the best day ever. Today we got the biggest snowstorm I have seen all year. We've had an incredibly warm January and February, but today, only 3 days into March, the ground outside was completely white, the sky only slightly less so. It's like Winter has a deadline for how much snow he needs to put on the ground before spring and is trying to make up for the snow he missed over the first two months of the year. I started searching for anything that could hide, or fix my moms favorite cookie jar. Apparently, her great grandma gave it to her. If she didn't want me to touch it then she shouldn't put my favorite cookies in it. Besides if you care about something so much, why would you actually keep it low enough for people to touch. If you actually think about this, it wasn't my fault; it's my moms fault. She should not be making my favorite cookies and putting them in a cookie jar I'm not allowed to touch. She should also not keep the cookie jar, that I'm not allowed to touch, so low all I had to do was slide a chair over, climb on to the counter, and then stand on my tiptoes to reach it. Or maybe she should keep it low enough for me to reach it then I wouldn't have to be trying to grab it with my fingertips. I could use my entire hand so it wouldn't slip so easy. It is not my fault it broke. It is my moms fault.

Weekends are spent rushing to turn in assignments before their upcoming due dates. Invites are rejected and chances to see friends are turned down. After many long hours, only a few of the numerous assignments have been competed. I am still behind. This process repeats every week, more homework is assigned and even more is ignored. Despite my best efforts, I cannot seem to get caught up and procrastination still controls me.

YES Cameron emphatic YES. It's amazing how many situations those quotes come in handy in. I love how a well-timed Princess Bride quote can turn an awkward silence into a round of laughter. And how they can make an awesome atmosphere even awesomer.
Have you read the book? It's got some funny stuff that was cut from the movie. But the movie is brilliant nevertheless.
Thanks for making me laugh, Cameron. You're awesome.

  34. My fingers flew across the keyboard, typing so quickly that I didn’t want to so much as hesitate for fear of losing momentum; I was writing a story and had just been struck with inspiration that I did not want to lose. The edges of my mouth curved upward as I witnessed the little black letters flashing up on the screen, more appearing with every rapid keystroke.

Then, all at once I stopped, my hands becoming motionless as my smile halted. It only took a moment for my shoulders to slump and I heaved a heavy sigh, for once again writer’s block was attacking my restless brain. I sat still as I pressed my mind for ideas, letting my fingers fall limply on the keyboard. For what seemed like forever I sat, thinking hard about this new dilemma that seemed to glare at me from the computer screen as I stared blankly back. I closed my eyes briefly as I pondered and explored every idea that did come to mind.

Then, as suddenly as when my common writing foe had struck, it retreated! My grin returned as I thought of a successful solution to the problem and the pieces of the plot puzzle finally came together. I straightened up and resumed typing, my imagination again flowing freely from my brain down to my fingertips.

Another battle fought, another victory won.

  37. In my dream I’m laughing. My joy is a mystery to me but it has spread a large smile across my face. However, my smile starts to fade as I glance around me trying to pinpoint where some distant music is coming from. It’s very quiet, but the noise in the room dies down enough for me to decipher a soft guitar melody. The music starts to slowly increase in volume and the room around me starts to blur. The objects in the room begin to spin and I can feel myself gradually floating upwards. I begin to panic as the people, chairs and tables begin to grow smaller beneath me. The guitar music has now grown to a loud, rhythmic tune, which causes a slight ringing in the back of my head. The people in the room below me are just tiny dots now as I float higher and higher. Suddenly, I feel myself being tossed into an entirely different dimension in which I’m suddenly lying flat on my back. I open my eyes to total darkness and slowly bring my hand up to my face. I rub my eyes before groping around above me, searching for my alarm. I turn it off and the guitar melody comes to a sudden halt. I role out of bed and onto my knees before brushing my teeth and putting on clothes. Fifteen minutes later I run out the door in order to get to early morning seminary on time.

The time had eventually come to head back to Panama, from the snow covered U.S.A. As we touched down in Atlanta, Georgia you could see how cold the air was and the way it bit to the bone. The plane slowly made its way to the terminal and people started to scurry off the plane and into the airport. As soon as we made our way to the TV where all the connecting flights were listed it was covered in red writing wich read, “CANCELLED” over and over again.
We finally found the gate where our plane was supposed to taking out of, and sure enough it was, you guessed it, cancelled! We still made our way to gate T7 to set our stuff down and figure what we were going to do. We talked to the people at the desk in front of the gate; they weren’t much help. The hours started to tick by so we decided to get some dinner at a little burger joint. Around 10:30 PM we found out that our flight wouldn’t leave until 5:30 PM the next day because of the icy run ways. After getting that news, we set up camp. We pulled benches together to make “beds” and used the cheap airline blankets to sleep with, which later got stolen from us as we slept; weird right?!
It was a Monday night so we figured we should have FHE and there were some missionaries heading out to their missions that were trapped with us so we invited them to join us, and we had a makeshift FHE right in the middle of the Atlanta airport. Sure enough, the next day we left at 5:30 PM, which didn’t seem to come soon enough. This is probably one of my favorite memories with my family, even though it wasn’t the greatest thing to do; it really brought us together and we made the most out of it.

When I was younger, my sisters would tease me a lot. I'm the baby of the family. Sometimes, they would try to tie me up in many different places; Sometimes out on a tree, sometimes on door knobs, almost any place they could think of. I have so many memories of my childhood, but for some reason this one sticks out the most. We laughed a lot sometimes followed by screaming and crying. But, after a few minutes, we would forget about the whole thing and start laughing playing again. Now, two of my sisters are married and moved out. I hardly get to see them anymore. When we do see each other, we talk about all our favorite memories and laugh like the good old days. I love my sisters, and they love me. We are a happy family!

You know that feeling where you have a ton of stuff to unload from your car but you are just SO determined to make it in with one trip? Well, today I had my fifty pound back pack, a waffle iron, a jacket, a koolade pitcher, a bottle of Pam spray and a ginormous bottle of syrup, all extremely awkward things to hold. So on my way in, I am within 5 feet of the door when I drop the stinkin Pam. Ughh. . . But I was so close! I just kicked the spray can along my garage floor until I hit the steps up. I tried for about 10 minutes to use my feet to maneuver that horrid bottle up the stairs, there are only 4 stairs!!! Finally, I decided this was too time consuming and went inside with what I had, set it all down and went back for the spray. I know, depressing. Sometimes, you just got to move on. :D But then what are you suppose to say when your mom asks why the Pam label is ripped to shreds and the lid and can are all scratched up?

Emotions are confusing. You could love someone, and hate someone at the same time. Anger, jealousy, confusion, exhaustion, all things that we feel in our every day lives. I love…Love is probably the most complicated and confusing a emotion of all of them. Love if your relationship with someone, your connection. Love is a mixture of emotions including: pain, happiness, anxiety, hope, confusion ect.

Every once in a while I take a couple days off of using my phone. I still bring it with me where I go in case of emergencies, but I don't let myself call or text- which can be challenging if someone texts you who doesn't know you are doing it :) It might sound like a dumb idea, but it actually benefits me in a few ways:

    1. It gives me a couple days where I can really focus and be more productive without my phone being a distraction.
    2. It gives me something to look forward to when the 2 days are over and gives me a satisfied feeling when I'm done that I was able to discipline myself to do it.
    3. It helps me realize that I don't really need a phone. Sure it's convenient and useful and gives me a way to communicate with anyone almost instantly, but I can still have a good day and be with the people I love without it.

I think this would be a great thing for any of you to try. You can go to whatever extent you want (I allow myself to still text and call my family when needed), but push yourself to to a little challenge. See what you can gain from going without your phone for a couple days.

My friend and I went to this farm that had fun fall activities. There was a pumpkin patch, a pumpkin slingshot, a huge tub full of corn kernels, and lots of other fun attractions. But our favorite attraction was this huge corn maze. To do the corn maze, you had to grab a flag (to wave in case you got lost) and grab a blank map. During the maze you have to find hidden pieces to the map, and at the end there was this huge platform that you got to go on. The maze was really big though. I mean, it took us two and a half hours to finish it (we found all the map pieces too). It was one of the coolest experiences that I've ever had with my best friend.

I love seminary. However, I hate mornings.
My alarm clock goes off, pulling me from a dream. I frown down at the time- 5:20.
I pull myself out of bed, vowing for the millionth time to go to bed earlier tonight. Half asleep, I stumble into the bathroom. I switch on the lights, and brush my teeth. I’m not actually awake until I splash water on my face, forcing me to face the reality of another day.
After getting dressed, I grab my makeup. By now, I’m promising myself I’ll take a nap when I get home before I have to watch biology. I know I won’t actually be able to go back to sleep later, but I somehow convince myself I will. Just like every other morning.
I slip on my shoes, and brush through my hair. After saying my prayers, I head downstairs and out to the car.
By now I’m glad I was able to pull myself out of bed another day. Seminary is a great way to start off my morning.

The challenge is to pick a yoga pose that is difficult for you to do and then, after following a set workout plan, at the end of the 32 days you will be able to do that pose with ease. Part of the plan is that you have to push yourself into the pose as much as you can and then hold it -on each side- for 2.5 minutes! Sounds easy right? Well it's not. It's actually insanely hard; But after you finish the time you feel so strong and motivated and ready to conquer the day. Slice of life.

The morning brings strange and wonderful thoughts.
    By Jocelyn C.
    Sister. Jackson's english class.

I often think to myself,"Where am I going?"
The truth of it all is that I don't know where I'm going, I only know where I'd like to be going and where I've been.
When I pray I often get no answer, but none the less I continue to pray and think of God all day, every day.
I usually do as I'm told and I usually don't let my emotions get the best of me, but sometimes I can't help but let the emotions flow and allow them to forsaken me.
I enjoy the smell that the mourning forest brings and I enjoy listening to the morning forest sing.
I love watching the clouds take form and shape as much as I love watching them dissipate.
I love God and all I see, these are one of the many wonders of being me.

We often don't think about what we have, but eventually we'll look back on this life and wish we could live this life twice and give this road another ride and try to live within a new light of understanding and sacrifice, but we only live, love and die once, never twice, so try to appreciate the life you've been given, to the last of your breath, until the end of your life. live life like you'll never see tomorrows light and I say to you good fortune, good life, and good night.

I was listening to You are not alone from the Into the Woods soundtrack when I started wondering... Why does Cinderella and the Baker sing about mistakes and then still focus on the fact that no one is alone? It didn't make sense to me. What does loneliness have to do with making mistakes? Then it dawned on me. It's all about the Savior! When we make mistakes and slip up it's part of Satan's lie to tell us that we can never be forgiven, no one will ever understand, and if someone found out they would never forgive us- they would judge us. But it is just that, a lie! Our Savior will never abandon us. He loves us and even when we make mistakes He stays with us. He wants us to know how much He loves us because it is an understand of our worth and His love that will enable us to overcome and to truly repent. I know that through the Atonement we can repent and be forgiven and we can always start again.

  71. Life feels like a game of monopoly sometimes. Going in circles having the same things happen over and over with only the slightest variation. I'd sometimes wish it was different. A typical day would be "start in Bed", "you rolled a three and ended up at seminary”, and "you rolled a six, come home and log into teleconnect".

What we need is the spice of life.

We need to understand that we have agency, and make life only as awesome as we in vision it to be. We have the ultimate control of our minds, and can control it only as much as we believe we are capable. We can tune ourselves so accurately that the most mundane aspects of our lives can be turned into exciting daring adventures. As the things that we once considered mundane annoying road blocks start to change, we see our lives become filled with Adventures as stated above. As the scriptures say, that the righteous will have "a perfect knowledge of their enjoyment", which is a way of saying exiting adventures.

I had a thought today about a lot of things but mostly on people as a whole. It is my opinion that every person is born with a superpower. By that I don’t mean the ability to fly or having super strength. I mean that every person is born with a special gift. Sometimes they’re move obvious like being adept at playing the piano, doing well in sports or being able to draw well, most of the time they are less obvious though.
For example, my younger sister has the ability to calm people and make them feel happy even if they are angry or nervous. She doesn’t do anything out of the ordinary; it’s just something she does without thinking. My mom is a great listener. She has always been a great listener. I have a friend named Surabhi who has a way of making people laugh. These aren’t usually recognized by society but they are all superpowers.
Everyone has one and sometimes people know they have it, sometimes they don’t. I feel it is important for everyone to figure out their superpower and use it for good. With great power comes great responsibility – right? ;)
One superpower that often gets misused is the power of words. Think of all the greatest and the worst people and history? What did Winston Churchill and Hitler both have in common? They were both good public speakers. What did Nephi use to teach his family? What did Nehor use to lead people astray? Words, they all used words and each person used their agency to take their superpower in a different direction.
Find the direction you want your superpower to take you and make it a good one. 

When recovering from an illness it is incredible how much you sleep. You can basically sleep until your body recovers. Wouldn't it be nice to do that with life? When things become to much to bear and life knocks you down, it would sure be nice to just stay down until you have recovered, and wait until you have the strength to get back up. But life keeps going though it may seem cruel. And sleeping just pushes you farther behind. We need to know our limits, and recognize that they are there. If we push ourselves to far our recovery will take away from our progression.

We bought a new piano a few weeks ago. It's actually 19-ish years old, but we just got it so it's "new." Compared to our old piano, the sound is much better; the resonance is amazing! Some of the keys on our old piano gave a more "dead" sound, but the new piano's keys are all very resonant. It's also more in tune with itself. Also, on this new piano, the damper pedal actually works! The damper pedal on our old piano gradually stopped working. The action and touch of the keys on this new piano is better too. It's totally awesome! The first day after it was delivered to our house, I kept getting distracted from school to play the piano. I hope with a new and better piano that my skills will rapidly improve.

I recently moved and this week I got to go visit my old ward. I was so good to see old friends, reminisce, and catch up on each others lives.
Even though I miss my old ward and friends, I am so excited to make new friends here. I know Heavenly Father will never give me a trial I can't overcome.

For me, seeing my old friends brings back the memories that we had with each other. At first it is sort of awkward like what two people do when they first meet each other, but then it chilled out and we were able to communicate like we did before I left.

  78. Exhausted. Exhaustion is my entire world. I feel freezing cold yet burning hot right at the same time. My top half feels like concrete while the bottom feels like jell-O causing me to be extremely top-heavy witch prohibits me to complete basic human functions such as... living. Every time I see light or hear noise a small hammer drives a nail deeper into my brain causing the worst headache in my life. I am thirsty and starving but if I eat something I feel that it won't stay down for very long. No matter how long I wait I can never fall asleep even thought that is the very thing I want most in the world. It's funny that when we are denied the simple pleasure of sleeping for too long our bodies through a temper tantrum and completely shut down. Any way I'm going to go either die or finally go to sleep.
Good night, Anthony M, 1st period.

When you are sick, you don't want to move because you fear it will get worse, but you want to move because not moving is not helping. I remember a sickness that I had a four years ago that made me have to crawl to get a drink of water. It wasn't the swine flu or anything serious, my body was just focusing on curing my stomach rather than taking care of my daily activities.

Something interesting I have learned is that a tree that bends against the wind will die quicker than one that allows to become subjected to it. A tree that stands erect and strong will become uprooted and fall because the strength of the wind blowing against the trunk will eventually overcome the strength of the roots. If a tree bends and twists according to the wind, the strength will be lowered and the tree will survive longer. That is why a lot of trees are not perfectly straight but bent here and there. Hard things sent from the Lord are going to come into our lives. If we fight against what is being given to us, then we will fall and never become strengthened. But if we allow those things to strengthen us and know that our lives are in the Lord's hands, then he can craft us to live and prosper.

Tuesday. I hate Tuesdays. Tuesdays are just the second Monday of the week. My sister was sick on Tuesday. Naturally I felt a little bad for her, but I wanted her out of her bed for my own reasons. I was bored. It was okay durning school but when I was finished with my work I didn't know what to do with myself. I thought perhaps I could distract my frustrated mind by taking some time outside. That’s when I saw what ruined my Tuesday. There was a squirrel digging up my sweet potatoes! It is hard to describe the hatred I have for squirrels. The ones people see in the woods are okay but squirrels that live around people are fat, lazy, and cocky because nothing in the area eats them. I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw it and our eyes met. Most squirrels would have run for their lives at this point but not this one. This squirrel was used to people, and only stared at me. I was angry that he was ruining my garden, and insulted that he did not fear me. That was it, I had a bone to pick with this little devil. I started to chase. He ran onto the fence with impressive agility. As I fallowed, I knew I could not chase him on the fence due to my size but I had another Idea. I ran up to the wood fence and slammed my body against it. The fence shook, threw the squirrel off balance and onto the ground. Now he was scared. He chose a random direction and ran as I pursued him. The little beast run up a tree expecting to be safe. He stared down at me mockingly. The little pest did not know I could fallow him up because he was used to other humans, not me. I climbed up the tree and began to shake the branch he was sitting on. In a desperate attempt to escape he leaped to a small brach of another tree in my neighbors yard almost missing his mark and continued to run away until I could not see him. I climbed down the tree and went to my garden to asses the damage. I hate squirrels.

  83. If I could go anywhere on vacation, I would go to all the best theme parks is the world. Because I want to find the best roller coaster. And because it would be fun. I love roller coasters that are fast, and the bigger the better. They would have to be smooth because the bumpy ones are not that fun.

So we went to my grandma's house for two days, and it was awesome! We got to play games with her, and we shared laughs. She fed us a lot of food, and it is awesome, but I have to burn it off in a couple days. My grandma is 76 years old, but she acts like shes WAYYY younger. She's awesome.

I love going to the temple. I feel like the whole world is on pause whenever I go. I am only 15, so all I can do there for now is do baptisms for the dead. But I am always uplifted when I do them! I try to really focus on the person that I'm baptizing and how I think they would feel about being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It may sound kind of weird, I sometimes call going doing baptisms for the dead "bailing people out of jail!" I call it that because we really are bailing spirits out of spirit prison! A couple months ago, I was doing baptisms for the dead when I thought about this one person to whom I was performing ordinances for them. Then, I could feel her presence in the room! It was so cool! I could also feel her gratitude and I pictured her in my mind with a huge smile and a shining countenance. I loved that experience so much. So now I am making a goal to try to imagine what each ancestor is like when I do their baptism and confirmation. I'm excited to do that now!

I was recently reminded of an experience I had on my first backpacking trip. My friends and I discovered that the only way to get through certain super-thick patches of mud without sinking in up to your ankles was to walk in the deep footprints that had no water at the bottom. I'd always thought that there was a life lesson in that, but I never really bothered figuring it out.

The path is the straight and narrow road. You might be tempted to leave it to try to find an easier way, but the farther you go in one direction, the deeper the mud gets, and the other side is a cliff.

No one said that the gospel was easy, they jut said that it is possible and it is worth it. There will be dirty, muddy, and exhausting section of the way, but we don't have to do it alone. We have the scriptures and leaders who have shown us exactly where to step to get through, an Jesus Christ took those impossible first steps himself and suffered through he mud so thy we can walk in his safe footsteps.
