Here is a riddle: What is red blue and yellow and every color of the rainbow, I am long and short, thick and thin, and often lie curled up. I can eat 100 sheep in a row and still be hungry. What am I?
ReplyDeletehere is the answer in binary/morse code 1=- 0=. 01 / 011 111 111 0100 0 10 / 010 001 110.

 0pp@ ` ':-)
A dream? Sleep? A dream-dragon? A book?
I'm stumped. What IS every color known to man, long, short, thick and thin, known to lie curled up and can eat lots of sheep and be hungry?
I think I know the answer... Is it a rug?
DeleteErin B. 3rd Period DE

DeleteI used google to figure out the answer. It's double encoded. Convert the binary into morse and find a morse translator. Great joke! I knit, so I can relate to a project eating 100 sheep. :-)
Period 3 I think the color is white, because every color expect white is in the rainbow. Or, if you think of it as the scientific term, Black sucks all the colors of the rainbow. I don't know. But that's my guess.
DeleteI'm going to guess. Is it reality?
DeleteEtherway I'm right because the answer is in reality, if it wasn't, the answer wouldn't exist and if the answer is nothing I'm still right because you would give an answer that exists to answer the question.

Delete"Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers, to turn on the lights."-Albus Dumbledore
ReplyDeleteI think that this Harry Potter quote really sides with part of the gospel of Jesus Christ, even if it was not intended to. I believe that the "lights" as referred to in this quote can be symbolic of the light of Christ. When we follow him and keep his commandments and do all things through him, we receive eternal happiness and we will "prosper in the land."

DeleteI feel like life with siblings is pretty entertaining. I sleep with my sister, who works at a vet clinic. And last night she jumped out of bed. I looked at her and said "what are you doing?" She answers "I need to go clean the dogs ear!" I was so confused. I than realized she was sleep walking. :D I than told her to go back to bed because she was sleep walking. She got really mad at me when I said that and we ended up arguing for a long time. I finally gave up and went to bed. When I woke up I asked her about it, and she said she had no clue what I was talking about.

DeleteSiblings are the spice of life. They always add flavor to a bland day. Sometimes it's sugar and vanilla. Other times it's a combination of plain cinnamon and pepper :D
One of my younger brothers had a sleepwalking problem a few years ago. The most memorable sleep-walking-episode that I can remember is when he walked out of his bed, into the hall and nearly tumbled down the stairs. He doesn't remember it, but my oldest brother and I remember it vividly because we were babysitting that night. :) It took quite a bit of persuading to get him to go back to bed. He kept mumbling nonsensical protests, and we couldn't just force him back because you're apparently not supposed to wake up sleepwalking people.
That's really funny Emma. I so enjoy people that sleep walk, and sleep talk.
DeleteThat is funny. My younger brother sleep-walks all the time.
DeleteMy sister has a sleep problem as well. Once, we had to yank her hair in order to stop her from running and yelling around the room. Also, another time, she went and turned on all the lights and got frustrated with me for turning them on even though it was her. I have to talk to her like a baby or an animal to calm her down. Even with all my experiences with sleep talk/walk, (once at girls camp) this is by far the funniest! Thanks!

I have not seen those videos, but they sound interesting. One time my sister almost jumped off the roof while sleep walking, luckily my other sister caught her. I would definitely agree with you that sleep walking is very dangerous, :D but it can also be entertaining at times :D

I have been reading a book on Thomas Jefferson. It was REALLY good! There was so much information that i did not know. Like how Monticello (his home) came completely from his land, he made the glass, the plaster, harvested the wood, and everything. his house was full of little inventions and his ideas. he rigged up a gear and chain to make some double doors open in sync, and his bed was in an alcove that, on one side went into his study, and the other went to his library! His home was also almost always overrun in tourists! His daughter was asked this question: how many unexpected guests have you had to prepare a meal and bed for? she answered: "FIFTY!" Yeah, fifty unexpected guests IN ONE NIGHT. i was blown away! The book is called: the real Thomas Jefferson

As I drifted off, the thought crossed my mind of my pancakes. I thought, 'I should go and hide them, so that no one eats them before I get up.' But sleep was so close, and I was so lazy, and so I fell asleep and made no effort to protect my beloved pancakes.

ReplyDeleteI am a writer. Lost in a world of ink, my fingers flash over the keys. People, as familiar as my friends and family, move through scenes I invented. They’re my children, friends, my siblings. They’re my characters.
I am a writer. Stories are imprinted on the back of my eyelids, and every time I lie in my bed, trying to sleep, worlds spin through my mind. Dialogue fills my ears when no one is talking, and people I have never met are as real to me as the ground I stand on, the table this computer rests on, the chair I sit on.
I am a writer. I create daily, using words to paint pictures which make up a world. My fingers have created people, describing them to the tiniest detail. My ears hear their thoughts, their conversations. My eyes see their faces, records their actions. My nose crinkles as I smile, wishing that I could meet them face-to-face just once. My mouth explains the plot to any who will listen. My mind weaves their stories when I’m doing things, when I’m not.
I am a writer. It’s a job, it’s a hobby, it’s a joy, and it’s a life, entirely different from those who surround me. I’m a lover of words, a designer of people, a weaver of stories, a listener of tales.

As I burst up through the choppy ocean water behind the crashing wave I gasped a deep breath, filling my lungs with much-needed oxygen. I could see my brother Brayden a little further out sitting on his surfboard waiting for the perfect wave. I paddled a little closer then decided I was happy with where I was positioned. “Here comes another set!” Brayden shouted as I could see the endless blue ocean begin to warp and bounce up and down. I shimmied my board around so my back was facing the oncoming waves. They seemed to be running at us with full force however they were breaking too late to catch. As the set pressed forward with the upsetting waves the annoyance began to build and flow over Brayden and me.
We could see the last wave of the set. We watched it billow towards us as it began to grow larger and larger. My eyes widened and a smile grew across my face. “It’s perfect! Take it bro!” Brayden yelled as he shot over the impeccable wave. I flipped myself around and began to pedal as hard as my arms would allow me. I could feel the wave sucking me in like a vacuum. And just then I felt the wave catch me and I stood up. As the wave curled around me, like a cave, time seemed to come to a halt. In those frozen moments, I skimmed my fingers across the salty ocean water. The barrel closed around me as I shot out of it like a bullet from a gun. I could hear Brayden yelling and shouting in awe and jealousy as I slid up onto the shore with a smile that could tell the whole story.
That sounds amazing! I love all the detail you put into your slice of life, just reading makes me wish I was in the ocean right now.

ReplyDeleteLive the life you want to live and not the life you think others want you to live. Have you ever had a dream, not the kind you get you get when you’re sleeping but were you can picture yourself in the future doing what you love. It can be a couple years from now or it can be 20 years from now, Picture your there right now and ask yourself if you’re really happy and if this is what you really want? If after asking yourself these questions this is still your dream then go for it and find out what steps you need to take to get there. But if by chance your picturing your future self and realize that’s not the real you and it was only one of your dreams to satisfy someone else then you need to find out what you truly want and head in that direction. If you don’t want to change your dream because you’re worried about someone else’s feelings just remember if they really care about you they will want you to be happy. The only one that can know what’s best for you is you.

DeleteToday in History we talked about the U.S.’s Foreign Policy. The issue we discussed was very involved and complex. It reminded me of an allegory my speech and debate teacher (the best in the world, in my opinion) related to me and my class a year ago. It went as follows:
ReplyDeleteSuppose that you and your family live in a residential neighborhood; and your dad, who is really smart, has just invented a gun that works in such a way that when you type a person’s name on the built in key-pad, within five minutes the requested individual will be annihilated.
Shortly after your father invented this weapon, you discovered that your neighbor, who has repeatedly exclaimed he hates you and wishes you to be destroyed, is almost finished constructing the same gun in a shed in his backyard! What would you do? Do you type in his name on your gun? Should you destroy his shed? Either option violates God-given rights that we as a nation believe are bestowed upon every human being when we enter this earth.
This scenario, ridiculous as it may seem, is an issue our nation is facing right now with nuclear management. The situation is tense with the U.S., Israel, and Iran (among other countries). How do we address this problem? Is a resolution viable?
Every time the subject of nuclear possession is brought up, doubt and uncertainty fall upon us. Is there a right answer? What is to be done?
Nuclear warfare and possession just feels wrong. But without it, we would probably never have won World War II. It feels like there is no answer when relying upon the wisdom of man, but with the wisdom of God, we can know the answer. The only thing is, nobody in charge likes that answer.

ReplyDeleteSometimes my ward can be very judgmental. I thought that I belonged to a church of love. Why must so man people judge me because I don't attend "real" school? What defines real school anyway? Is it what you learn? because I know that what I am learning is far more valuable than what anyone at Lone Peak is learning. Also, at other schools there is a lot of discrimination between grades, because being an idiot in 10th grade is so much better than being an idiot in 8th grade. At my school, there isn't any of that. Today's post is on the absolute joy that each of us can bring to our lives through this one simple word. The way it simply rolls off of the tongue is a testament to all that words have great power.
I would like to share a very personal life experience. A few weeks ago, I was having a down day because it was Monday.
Enough said.
I thought of puppies and rainbows but nothing could get me out of my week opening slump. But all that changed at about noon. I was sitting in math, feeling the weight of the textbook on my shoulders when a word came to mind that almost seemed inspired. Plethora. Mouthing the word once made me smile. At first I was at nothing but a whisper but after letting the sweet words roll off my lips again and again the whisper grew into a battle cry. I was whole again. Colors were brighter, life was happier, and everything seemed right in the world once again.
I have seen the results for myself and I know that with a little practice you too can experience the same joy I have.
Remember, next time you feel down, happiness is only one plethora away.

DeleteI love this. Life is such a shifting thing. Sometimes we face the hard things that threaten to send us tumbling down the stairs of life, and other times we are surrounded by the amazing things that buoy us up, lifting us off our feet and sending us floating up, up, up ... !
The imagery you used is wonderful, Elise. Thank you for sharing this slice (stair) in your pie (staircase) of life :)
Dance is truly my favorite thing. those days I go without it I feel empty. I have nothing to do. I have recently realized that I don't get invited to things anymore because my response 90% of time is"sorry I have dance" But that's okay :) I have a show tomorrow for our Disney show. I am in "Be Our Guest" from "Beauty and the Beast" and I am also in "Never Had A Friend like Me" from "Aladdin"
ReplyDeleteI am excited but also scared because we have made so many changes. Figures crossed that it will go well.
That is really cool you are in those plays.

ReplyDeleteThere is usually never a time in my life when I don't have some kind of obsession. My current obsession is solving the Rubik's cube fast. My dream is to one day go to the US national cube championship, and then the world cube championship. I can solve the 5x5 Rubik's cube, the 3x3, and the 2x2. My record for the 3x3 Rubik's cube is 30 seconds and 88 milliseconds, and my record for the 2x2 is 6 seconds and 12 milliseconds. There are many "speed cubes" out there that help you to solve the Rubik's cube faster. My 3x3 "speed cube" is a sticker less cube, and it is really nice because I don't have to worry about stickers. I will soon be ordering a 2x2 speed cube that has the funny name of Fangshi Shishuang. It is very fast and it has tiles instead of stickers which has the same perk as my sticker less 3x3 speed cube. In the future I hope to get a 4x4 speed cube and get really fast at it.

ReplyDelete"Decisions Determine Destiny!" ~Thomas S. Monson
I thought of this quote when sister Jackson help up the her blanket with a road on it from today's class. I came in late so I'm not sure what it was for but I thought of this quote. I know that the decisions you make really do effect your destiny(aka your future). One example I can think of that has changed my life is the decision of whether I should do Liahona or not. It was a hard decision because I knew doing school on line would be a bit harder than going to regular school. It's hard when you're at home because you don't get as much interaction with other people and it's a totally different experience. I knew that Liahona would be a good option for me; I liked that Liahona incorporates the gospel and scriptures into the school curriculum. We don't have to separate our thoughts when it comes to school and religion; we can combine them. I definitely prayed about whether I should do Liahona or not. After praying and studying it out I felt like it was the right decision for me. I am obviously doing Liahona now and I'm loving it more than I could ever imagine. This choice although may seem small, it has made a huge impact in my life. Doing Liahona online has aroused some questions from others; explaining it to people can be a bit difficult but it's all been worth it. I really can't imagine what my life would be like without Liahona. All of the amazing teachers and their lessons have helped me become a better person; it has helped shape me into the daughter of God I am today. Thank you everyone for making my experience at Liahona the best it can be. I appreciate everyone of you; even if I don't know you. Thank you!
This same thing happened to me the end of my 8th grade year. It was hard to choose but after i did, Liahona became the best decision i ever made.
DeleteI swear the hardest decisions come in the simplest forms. A couple of hours ago I went to Walmart with my mom. As we walked through the doors, we were hit with the age-old question. "What are we going to have for dinner?" After several minutes of discussing the dreaded topic, we narrowed it down to two options. Pot stickers and rice or fajitas. This is where our troubles began. *Insert another distressing discussion about food* Within seconds after our debate my mom comes up with the most genius idea! "Let's get both!" she proudly exclaims, somewhat shocked at her own excitement for the subject. After buying the required food we returned home. However, our struggle did not end there. We still couldn't decide which meal we wanted to have for dinner. Since it was somewhat late in the evening, we promptly decided to have both.

ReplyDeleteThere are so many things I want to do in my life in the future. I want to make music or remix classic songs and make them even better. I want to make, direct, and score movies. I want to put the perfect song, for the perfect scene of a movie, to bring people to tears, or bring them great joy. I want to design my own clothing for people all over the world to enjoy. To travel the world and meet new faces, and places. To find lost relatives, serve a mission and teach the gospel. Make friends with people i'd least expect to. Try crazy new things I wouldn't ever do, that make me step out of my comfort zone. I'm going to try to make each one of these dreams a goal, and mark each one of them off at a time, and live my life to the fullest.
I liked what you said about doing things that make you step out of your comfort zone. It reminded me of a quote by David Joseph Schwartz when he said "Do what you fear and fear disappears." It is so true.

I was one day checking Facebook for any notifications, and I saw someone's post about emojis. So, the old-minded me had to ask Google for help. I found out it was just another term for emoticons. I later go to one of my friends and asked," When did they start calling them emojis?" to which she replied," They've always called them that." "I've never heard about this!"

I love this scripture because it’s saying that God is in everything. I believe that if we look at things with the right perspective, we can see his hand in everything. ReplyDeleteI love days like today. Today was one of those days where everywhere I went, everyone just seemed to have a light glowing from them. The perfect weather, the perfect waffle poster Sarah DeGraff asked me to make (please note that next time you go in the hall), the perfect biscoff and nutella on the waffles after school and especially the perfect people I was around all day. It was all perfect. I don't think I saw one person without a smile.. Except for Bro. DeGraff talking about his History lesson.. But that doesn't count. I love our Liahona family.

Most people don't like cats, but I love them! All my sisters make fun of me because I am a "crazy cat lady". But, the sad thing is that it's true. I have two cats named Sassy and Leona. They always cuddle with me and sleep on my lap. They are super soft too. My dog isn't to fond of them, but I love them!
My seminary class is full of people who always fall asleep. So, our teacher showed us a fun game to make us stay awake. It was called Doctrine or Disney. It's a game where you have to guess whether a certain quote is from a Disney movie, or if it was said in the bible (or any other LDS doctrine). It kept us awake and we all had a good time. It also helped me learn that I have more fun in seminary when I stay awake.

ReplyDeleteWHEN YOU'RE GONE (the cup song)
You've got your call to serve the Lord
In a suit and tag everyday
And you'll be with lots of companions
And you're leaving a day not far away
When you're gone
When you're gone
I'm gonna miss you when you're gone
I'm gonna miss your smiling face
But you'll be in an awesome place, oh
I'm gonna miss you when you're gone
Now you're gone and now I see
It's cool having a missionary
And I'm so proud and so happy
That I can't say I miss you really
While you're gone
While you're gone
I'll sort of miss you while you're gone
But you'll be home in time
And that sure blows the mind, oh
I'll sort of miss you while you're gone
This is my experience with my three siblings that have gone and are on missions. I don't really miss them. I like to say that I'm so proud, excited, and happy for them that it cancels out the missing part. I love them so much. And I know that this is what they need to do. MISSIONARIES ROCK!!!

The sadness goes away and a smile appears on my face. :) Thanks for sharing!

I have a lot of my cousins leaving on missions, and my older brother is leaving sometime next year. He's turning 18 in August, and I still can barely believe it. I know I'll miss him, but I know that the Lord needs every young man out there, and and every young woman who chooses to go.
When Brother Degraff talks about signs of the times, and asks us what we should do, this is one of the first things I think of. Missionary work. It changes people, lives and countries.
Thanks again, Red :D

ReplyDeleteWe were all warming up for our ice show. It was a group performance. We were running through it, over and over and over again. They finally came into the back and told us that we were next. We walked up there and got ready for the music to start. It was going good. No one had fallen and everyone was right on the beat. Our ending pose was me in the dead center doing the splits, and everyone crowded around me. The song was coming to the end. I pulled up out of my spin, skated to the center of the rink and as I was dropping everyone was starting to get in their poses and my back foot slipped and tripped two girls who then fell and landed on everyone else. I had just messed up the ending of our performance, but I made sure I got back into my splits and smiled, while the rest of my team was across the rink on their butts and backs.
I'm sorry that the ending got ruined, but I think it is amazing that you did an ice show. I'm lucky to skate across ice without falling. And we won't even talk about how I've never been able to do the splits. Thank you for sharing this slice. It gave me a smile to know you finished well.
DeleteLast night I went to the Pentatonix concert. I don't have words adequate enough to describe how incredible it was. They were pitch perfect and kept time with each other to the dot. It's a great experience to see people perform. They're doing what they love. You can tell they are having the time of their lives sharing their talents with others. I hope I can live the rest of my life doing what I love. I hope what I end up doing effects people for the better. It took a lot of hard work and dedication for Pentatonix to get where they did today. Imagine if they had given up because they didn't think they'd do well? We can't give up on ourselves when times get rough. Things aren't going to come easy in life. We need to stay dedicated and persevere through hard times.

Today I was watching one of my favorite youtuber's video called "my youtube story" the words she shared inspired me so much; After watching the video I felt an odd motivation to start my own youtube channel, and post videos. I'm not sure if I'll actually go through with it but I think it would be fun! I could help others grow and learn whilst growing and learning myself. Since I am home schooled I have a lot of free time and, logistically, I would have time to film and edit my videos. I feel like it would take a lot of hard work, dedication, and time; but honestly, doesn't everything in life? If we all didn't do things because we felt they would be too difficult and/or time consuming.. We wouldn't do hardly anything. Hobbies would all of a sudden become too much of a responsibility to bare; Callings in the church would be thrown out the window because 'who has time for other people?'; And we could all forget about any school or work because we wouldn't be able to handle the stress and devourment of our time and energy.
ReplyDeleteIf we let our fears and doubts hold us back from moving forward we would forever be stuck in the same place. Fortunately we were sent here to earth to spend time learning new stuff, exert energy practicing new skills, and have fun trying new experiences.

I promise Elsa, I really am trying to le it go. It's really a difficult thing to do though.

The ghost of braces past.
Joce wiped the sweat from her brow as the tension in the room began to increase and the countdown timer ticked rapidly with an annoying ring. Joce knew that only she could stop the twenty foot, pink and orange, teddy bear packed with deadly explosives from decimating the entire world, but the clock was ticking and time was running short. Joce quickly yanked out the red and blue wires simultaneously when the timer showed one second until explosion, however since this was a dream of mine and not a fictional story, I should inform you that the bomb did explode with the ring of my alarm clock. I woke up, hit my head on the shelf above my bed, then I fell from my bed to the floor and I hurriedly clicked the switch on my alarm clock to turn the horrid syren off. Now that I was awake and out of the dream world in which I visit so frequently, I mumbled to myself about the ache I felt on the back of my head as I rubbed the tender surface. I quickly wiped the sleep from my eyes then got dressed in my favorite black and gray striped shirt and put on a pair of dark blue jeans. I brushed my dirty blond hair and placed a black headband on the top of my head, resting, so that it laid just behind the line of my ears. I looked into the mirror at myself and I calmed myself down and Smiled as wide as I could, because I knew that it was a good day to be happy and I was happy because I was going to get my braces off today. I took a picture of my very strait, still braced, teeth, so that I could preserve the moment of the before and after experience. My mother was out taking the boy's to school, so I was left home alone for an hour and I had spent the time alone in my room listening to music.
To Be Continued...
When I do my animal chores I have to get the goats fed because they're the most noisy out of them all. Then I feed the cats and go to grab an egg basket. I grab a scoop of chicken food then open the huge door with all my might. I close behind me and I dump the food in the feeder. Then I got to the right to the nesting boxes. Some of the chickens are broody, which means that they want to have babies. So they sit on the eggs, some of the chickens peck you though. So when I'm done gathering the eggs I go inside and get ready for school. When it's Friday and Saturday I sometimes stay out there to play with the goats.

Picking her up, I tried to calm her. Nothing working I sat down with her on my lap and started singing softly. After a while she calmed down and I put toys in front of her. I kept singing and she was fine. She fell asleep an hour or so after. I was sitting on the couch singing and rocking her. Her eyes closed then open again and I could tell she was fighting it. While that was happening I heard footsteps on the stairs and looked over. The mom had stopped to get something. In a while, after the mom was gone, the baby stopped fighting it and went to sleep. I rocked her some more and sang softly before getting up to place her in her crib. While she slept I cleaned up the toys and sketched and read my book I brought. She slept for a half-hour and the mom returned about a half-hour after that. It was such fun and I enjoyed every minute of it.

But to say, "Be the good in the world." It brings a deeper depth and meaning to this quote. I think that it is easy to believe that there is good in the world- we have friends and loved ones who we see and know are good. But it is hard work to be the good in the world. I don't think we always realize the difference our good actions can make in the world. But people notice and it can mean a lot to them. I am challenging myself to work harder and choose each day to, "Be the good in the world."

I slide forward, titling backward, nearly falling onto my head until my bare foot finds purchase on the pavement. I climb into the car and finally breathe. “For waking up ten minutes before seminary starts I’d say that went pretty well.” I comment to no one in particular.

There are roller skates tied to the ceiling by their laces and the roller skates have red wheels.
I have a remote controlled car. It is very fun to drive although it brakes, it is still fun to drive with my friends and cousin. Today was a great day to drive it was nice and warm but it wasn't sunny. The fun part was the driving. Going to Highland to go to the one hundred foot hills is so much fun. I wish I could run up the hill as fast as my RC car can drive up the hill. It was a great day.

ReplyDeleteWhat do you do when your world is braking? There is pressure on you in every direction. Slowly areas begin to crack. What is the solution? What fixes broken things? Duck Tape....You need to find your Duck Tape. What is your Duck Tape?
We got four baby chickens last week. Right now, they're chilling in a bin in our bathroom. Peeping is constantly hitting my ears; for such small animals, they sure can make a lot of noise. We're keeping them inside until either the weather warms up, or they grow enough feathers to keep warm. I think the latter will happen first. We've only had them a week, but they've about doubled in size. Their growing speed is probably related to their voracious appetite; we have to refill their feed bowl every few hours. On the other hand, that might just be because they keep tipping it over. Hopefully they will grow quickly so we can move them outside and keep our other chickens company.
ReplyDeleteOh so cool ! I love chickens! I literally have 20 of them, keep it up

DeleteWhen I lived in Florida, we didn't have chickens but ducks. In our backyard, there was a stream that separated the houses and there were ducks that lived in it. I remember going outside with my bag of bread and I saw a duck with all her ducklings following her. It was so cute. The ducklings crawled all over my feet and were almost completely unaware that I could poise any potential threat if I wanted to (which I never do). They hadn't experience life like the elder ducks had with dangers and threats in the life around them. Chickens are pretty cute too though...

ReplyDeleteI am currently taking a guitar class in BYU Independent Studies. I play the piano and have excelled a great deal in that field, but the guitar also has its advantages. It can be carried anywhere with you, unlike a piano that weighs near to 250 pounds or even more. I personally don't think the quality in sound of the guitar matches that of a piano but the tune suffices. It is not difficult to have it as an accompaniment that brings harmony to the singer, unlike a piano that already requires a great deal of focus and skill to play effectively. Also, my elder brother and dad play the guitar so they are able to give me pointers while I am the first in my family to take up the art of piano playing. I still do have much to learn before I can match my skills on the piano, but to play the guitar in the making of the talent and skill is much funner than learning how to play the piano.
