I'm going to a homeschool convention in less then an hour. I can't wait! The youth do a thing called: Simulation Day. That's where the people in charge have made up a problem, and a time frame. Then we need to solve that problem within that time-frame, and.. I not 100% on how to explain it, but it is SO fun. It's being held in the American Heritage school building, (they change buildings every few years.)
ReplyDeleteNear the end of the day, me and my family will go to a Family Ball. We didn't go to that last year... I can't wait to see what they do there! I know we're dancing though, and I LOVE to dance :).
I'll be back late tonight... I'm SO EXCITED!

I hope it turns out just as fun as you anticipated. Sounds wonderful!

DeleteI used to do homeschool once. I didn't enjoy it because I am A.D.D., and it is hard for me to concentrate. Good thing your school has those fun activities so you don't get bord. I wish I had more activities like that.
That is cool! I wish I could go to stuff like that. I get lonely sometimes being here all day with my mom and baby brother while my other siblings are at school. It would be nice to so fun stuff like that. That is one thing I like about Liahona--I get to socialize with other kids my age who go to school and who are homeschooled. :)
Delete-This post reminds me of how excited people in this world are. Like you, people are excited to do a number of things like going to conventions with dances and having the time of their lives. That is good. That is special. I feel the need to have some of that magical power of excitement back.
DeleteThat sounds like a lot of fun! Go homeschoolers!

ReplyDeletehello slicers?
Hello, Anson!
DeleteHello! I am a random person that likes Cheesits
DeleteI am reading The Lord of the Rings right now. I am on book four. This morning I was thinking about my book and how it can relate to the lives of those with the knowledge of the gospel. So I came up with some ideas and I'm going to share them with you. Sorry if I don't go in order of the story.
ReplyDeleteFrodo: Frodo would be you. You have to leave your home and go on a journey through earth.
The Shire: The pre-mortal life in heaven. We leave our heavenly home to go to earth just like Frodo left the safety of the
Shire to go on his journey.
Bilbo: Adam. He partook of the fruit or took the ring which then led to temptations and everything else.
Gandalf: I think Gandalf can symbolize Christ. He prepared the way for Frodo (us). He died to save Frodo and his friends
and then was resurrected. He has knowledge to help Frodo on his journey.
Sam: To me, I think Sam could be like the Holy Ghost. He sticks with you the whole way. He won't give up on you. He will
help you through your trials. He could also be your best friend or your eternal companion.
Merry & Pippin: They can be your family. They help you along your way, but eventually you have to leave them.
Legolas & Gimli: Good friends that will help you if they can.
Boromir: A friend who helps you but then make a mistake that ends the friendship.
Aragorn: The best of friends. He helps you all that he can. He tries his best to protect you.
Smeagol/Gollum: Someone who pretends to be your friend but then betrays you in the end. He only thinks of himself.
The One Ring: Temptations. It will test you. You must overcome your temptations or destroy the ring.
Sauron: Satan. He tries to get control over you. He wants everyone to live in misery. By destroying the ring ( or resisting
temptations completely), you are essentially destroying Satan from your mind.
The Ringwraiths: The servants of Satan.
Saruman: An evil man trying to take over the world. He is being controlled by Satan.
The battle of the
Ents at Isengard: Resistance to tyranny. I am reminded of the Stripling Warriors.
Those are my thoughts. If you have any questions or different ideas, please let me know.
Wow, Nat! That's a really cool analogy! I like how you put real-life into fictional-life and made it all work... :) I'm reading Lord of the Rings too!
DeleteReally great connections! Thank you for sharing. I really enjoyed reading the Lord of the Rings series.
DeleteI also enjoy reading Lord of the Rings series. I have read them twice and still find new and exciting topics. However, I like how you were able to explain everything in a nutshell and was able to pick up topics that had not quite come upon me. Great Job!

DeleteWow! That is SUPER impressive. I love all of those views. One question though... where does Eowyn fit in? You know... the girl who likes Aragon but that can never happen... You know who I'm talking about right?
DeleteElise, I haven't read about her yet in the book, but from the movies point of view, I would say she would represent a great and wise leader of men. Just a guess. I still need to read about her. I'll get back to you.

What's the news?
Well, this morning I got out of bed and posted my slice of life on the school web page and then I went back to sleep feeling proud at what I had accomplished. You see, I had a dream and in this dream, well one can not say what happened in this dream, but when the dream had ended I woke up in a mad brilliance; I could not remember all the details of my dream but the emotion I felt within my dream had stuck. I quickly picked up my computer from the cold hardwood floor, of my bedroom, and I rapidly began to type up what I could only assume was what God would have wanted me type. I felt compelled to touch a subject I had never discuss in public before, let alone admit to my closest friends, but none the less I felt the urge to type and that is what I did.
A thousand thoughts rushed around in my mind while I typed my little rap and for a moment I thought that maybe I should post something less personal, but then the thoughts stopped and I heard the strangest thing; I heard Brother. DeGraff saying "This generation will face a bigger trial then any other generation that was!" I heard Dani johnson, my mentor, saying "You must believe in your end product no matter how unusual or odd it may seem." and I heard my own voice inside my head, thinking to myself, "There will never be a better time to start the healing then the present you've been given." and all those voices that followed gave me courage to type and when I had finally achieved my end product, I read through it and I posted it; I felt anxious and nervous and worried. I went back to sleep and slept for one hour more before I woke up again and got back on my computer to see if my words had received any heed and I found that they had.
when I had finally realized that what I was reading was there, and not just some after sleep illusion, I felt warmth within me, a warmth like how I'd imagine I'd feel if I was made entirely out of pure light and I cried tears of joy and I was so happy for the people I impacted today, even if it was only a little bit.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
So my message today, from me to you guys, is to let you know that sometimes the hardest, most uncomfortable things to mention/say are the most important things to say, because you never know how much they could, and can, have an impact on something or someone important and you're always going to regret having the chance to say something, but never taking the risk, because you're unsure of your self, I want you to know in the moments when your unsure of yourself that 98% of the time, what you have to say is going to do more good then it can bad on the circumstances and people around you, I think you'll agree with me that the risk is worth the reward of knowing you said all you could say and you helped at least one person today.
"I <B YOU LADS AND LADIES!"
Until next time fellow slicers!
This is, Jocelyn Crofts, signing off.

DeleteYou guys! I love music! The power of music is incredible, and has the power to truly change lives. I remember a while ago, I used to be in to insanely heavy stuff. like.. screamo and death metal and... all of the bad things.... anyways, my mom encouraged me to pray about the music I was listening to. I did. A feeling of piece came over me as I decided to delete the songs/playlists that had been driving the spirit out of my life. Listen to good music.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! Music has certainly blessed my life.
DeleteMusic is the bomb! But yes, you do need to listen to music that is more uplifting than damaging. I think that you made an amazingly correct decision!

DeleteErin B P3 DE
DeleteI remember there was something in the New Era about this. The girls who did the crossword puzzles listened to classical music for one of them, and Heavy rock or something for the other one. The time they listened to classical, they were able to remember the answers more, and do it faster than the heavy rock time. I think that what we listen to and what we watch becomes a part of ourselves, no matter how much we try to keep it out. That means that we need to improve our music choices. Thanks for your experience, Trev.
I love the courage you had to delete songs from your music! I have a hard time with music sometimes but I always know I did the right thing when I delete music that does not help me feel closer to Heavenly Father.
DeleteBrady L. Period 3
ReplyDeleteThis morning I went shooting with my Teacher's quorum. Usually there are a lot of people that go, but this time only 5-8 people came. This was awesome because usually you have to wait in a huge line to shoot the shotgun, but this time you could basically do it whenever you wanted to. The guns that my dad and I brought were a .22 semi-auto rifle, a 9mm pistol, and an SKS. Some of the guns that other people brought were a 12 gauge and 20 gauge shotgun, an AR-15, a .40 and .45 caliber pistols, and a couple other guns. At first I wanted to go shooting just because it was going to be fun, but there is a lesson to learn here. The lesson is that you must learn to control the power of the gun. For example, the 12 gauge shotgun is really powerful, and you must learn to use that power wisely. To illustrate how powerful the 12 gauge shotgun is, we got the 20 gauge shotgun (which is a little bit less powerful than the 12 gauge), and we shot it at a pretty large sticker about as big as someones head. When you hit this kind of sticker, the part where you hit turns green to show where you hit more clearly than normal. The 20 gauge shotgun had covered a little over half of the sticker with bullet holes. Another thing to learn from this is to first learn how powerful something is and be careful, but also to never fear that power. This lesson doesn't exactly apply to anything in my life, but I hope it does in yours.
I love what you said. I have shot a shotgun before, and lets just say it was so strong it whacked me in my head. But I definitely learned my lesson to brace myself when I shoot.
DeleteNice slice. going shooting is fun when everyone is being safe. Thank you for sharing your slice of life with us!

Real Friends - Are the reason you have no food.
Fake Friends - Call your parents Mr/Mrs.
Real Friends - Call your parents DAD/MOM.
Fake Friends - Have never seen you cry.
Real Friends - Cry with you.
Fake Friends - Borrow your stuff for a few days then give it back.
Real Friends - Keep your stuff so long they forget it's yours.
Fake Friends - Know about you.
Real Friends - Could write a book about you.
FAKE FRIENDS - Would knock on your front door..
Real Friends - Walk right in and say, "I'm home".
Fake Friends - Will help you when you fall over..
Real Friends - Will jump on you and shout, "DOG - PILE"
Fake Friends - Are around for a while..
Real Friends - Are for life.
Fake Friends - Say, "Love you" in a joking manner.
Real Friends - Say, "I love you" and mean it.
Fake Friends - Will read this.
Real Friends - Will steal this.

I feel like in this world everybody thinks we have to look a certain way, act a certain way, and talk a certain way. Honestly I don't understand why, we should all be our own unique person. Any time someone says to me "your really weird!" I just take it as a complement and say thanks. Because if you think about it if everyone acted like how the world wants them to be, the world would be a very dull place. So be your own person, be different and be unique.
Period 3 I'm glad you pointed that out. Many teenagers are falling into temptation because of the want of fame or apperance. Sadly, worldly apperance is not a good path to take. Why? Because anytime someone chooses not to focus on their own spirtiual and put more focus on their personal apperance, they find them selves into a deeper hole. Where they think happiness is, becomes less than joy but misery. Very good example of this is famous actors and stars. Take away the spiritual strength, and you are left with a life of heart break. Trust me, their reputation usually fails as well as their spiritual progression.

If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we SEEK after these things."
Absolutely wonderful slice of life, Tiffany. Thank you.
DeleteI have been cleaning since I was really little. I have had years of experience and it has opened many doors to me. Like I said before, I started cleaning when I was really little, and that started at home with chores. And through the years my experience has grown and I have been able to turn it into kind of a career in my teenage years. I've gone on to cleaning elementary schools, people's houses, and other places, with my family or family members. I don't think it's a profession I would want to go into in the future, but it is fun and worth while when you're younger. I have continued to learn how to interact with people, I've learned a lot about integrity, honesty, and credibility, and it's helped me so much in my life. And it makes other people happy. So, go clean something and make your mom happy! ;)

ReplyDeleteATTENTION:
All of that said, I do recall reading many of your slices yesterday and today, and it has been wonderful for the most part. Anyone reading this, please make sure you are truly writing--not just checking this off your list. A sentence or two that takes you a minute or less to type is NOT considered a slice of life. There is neither thought, creativity, nor writing ability fostered or displayed. Please take the time you ought if you're going to slice at all. Lazy slices will not count. Please remember that when making your choices.

ReplyDeleteI love to Irish Dance. When I started Irish Dancing 5 years ago, I found that my favorite part of the year was the recital. That's no different today. Whenever we are preparing for a recital, I feel like we get closer as a class. At first, we were a little branch of the main studio, and we just had one class doing a recital piece, and got closer. The same group moved up a level with me for the first 4 years, a few dropping off or adding in, and we grew in friendship. This past year, only four of the people in my class moved up a level, and we were put in a class with a lot of people I didn't know. I still didn't know most of them, until we started our recital dance. We just barely finished choreographing it, and I feel like I know all of them better than I did before. I'm so grateful for dance in my life. I started creative dancing when I was 5 or 6(then switched to Irish), and now I don't know what I would do without it.

DeleteSorry, I'm a super vague person. I switched to Irish when I was 10, just so this makes a little more sense
Dance is so great for the talent that gets developed and all of the friendships that are cultivated. It reminds me of how much I enjoyed dance at BYU. Ballroom has an extra special place in my heart now.

It's so fun to perform in front of other people even if I always get nervous. ;) I was thinking about dance earlier this week and I realized something! Music has a different meaning to everyone. Some people love listening to music. Some people like to dance to music; others like to write music. There are so many different reasons why people love music. I personally love dancing to music. When I hear music I instantly starting tapping my fingers or my foot. I have an instant desire to start dancing (depending on the music, I guess). Anyways, thanks for sharing your slice!( It reminded me of how much I really love dancing.) :)

ReplyDeleteAnyone who has known me well during 2015 knows I am OBSESSED with pirates. I was browsing google images today looking at pirate quotes and I found these buried treasures.
May your anchor be tight,
Your cork be loose,
Your rum be spiced,
And your compass be true.
This poem reminds me that you can still have fun while keeping your standards, be they pirate-y or godly.
Why do we need algebra? Finding X is only important if you're a pirate.
This reminds me that even if we can't foresee a situation where we will use a subject, we should learn it anyway.
No cause is left if there is but one fool left to fight for it.
Brother DeGraff. This should be his new mantra.
"The problem is not the problem. The problem is your attitude about the problem." -Jack Sparrow
Enough said.
And now some fool's gold:
Pirate Code
Ne'er say "Thank you."
Say "I'll kill you tomorrow."
Always be yourself. Unless you can be a pirate. Then always be a pirate.
Drinking rum before 10am makes you a pirate, not an alcoholic.
Now and then we had a hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be... PIRATES!!!! -Mark Twain
Why join the navy if you can be a pirate? -Steve Jobs
Fun stuff about pirates! I didn't know you like them. How cool. Thanks for sharing, Sada!
DeleteI'm kind of having a bad day, and this made me smile. Thanks for posting.
DeleteThis is so great! I'm still laughing quietly. I love pirate quotes, Sada. And pirates are such fun fun fun characters to write. I know that someday, if I ever become an author, I will write a story solely dedicated to and devoted to pirates :) The other day, I watched a production of Treasure Island. The play majorly veered off plot, but it got an amazingly fun. I actually really liked this portrayal of John Silver, much more than I did the book portrayal (funnily enough, the actor turned out to be the director of the play I just got into :D I'm very excited)
DeleteJust out of curiosity, whose your favorite pirate?
Thanks again, Sada!

DeleteEmma, if you ever write a book about pirates, I promise to be your biggest fan. My favorite pirate is Captain Hook in the animated Peter Pan. I actually have a whole pirate costume and it is my designated Halloween outfit. :-)
Captain Hook is great. ("He'll be BLAAASTTEEED out of Neverland ... fooreeeverrr ..." - best line in the whole movie, right? His voice animates the character even more than the drawings, I'd say)
DeleteI actually have begun a story with pirates, but not quite finished it yet. It may have also involved Atlantis and mermaids and a handsome pirater-turned-good-guy as well as an evil captain who only wants the mermaids so he can capture Atlantis and will do anything to get to said place.
You go as a pirate on Halloween?! I alternate between princess and pirate!!!
If i can get your email sometime, i'll send you my pirate stuff :)
Highlights of My Day
ReplyDeleteThe sunrise turns the dawn's light gray-blue into a delicate baby-blue and gold. It's beautiful; light spreads through the sky, the bare branches of the trees looking black against it. It's only 6:15 or so, and my hair is still dripping from the shower. I wonder at the beauty of the dawn. Usually this happens while I'm in seminary. But not today. Today, I'm awake.
The car's warming up; my blanket helps me do the same. Snuggling back against the reclined leather, I close my eyes. When they next snap open, the clock has somehow skipped forward an hour. What? Ah, well, we'll be at the temple in an hour ... Hold on a moment. The clock skipped another hour while I blinked. But my neck hurts now, and it didn't a blink ago. Goodness, I've never fallen asleep that fast.
This room is small, and quiet. I sit on a soft chair, my feet tucked under it, and my hands folded in my lap. My head is bowed, eyes closed. My father's strong hands rest on my head as he performs an ordinance for one of my ancestors. A faintly warm emotion fills me. I'm so happy to be here for Cynthia, Serena and Emily. But the emotion is more than that ... It's safety, I realize. That's how I feel here. Comfortable, happy, peaceful, warm but most of all safe. I'm so glad that we came to the temple.
We stop at Wendy's on the way back. The hot sandwich in my hands, with the creamy tartar sauce and the soft bread, crisp lettuce and delicious fish is a new one. A North Atlantic Cod sandwich? I think. I shrug. Whatever it is, it's delicious. Absolutely. Hot fish fills my mouth, and the blend of bread, pickles, lettuce and sauce. Food. Ah, I adore it.
I sit in the living room with the sister missionaries and Brother Massey. We're helping James, an investigator, find his family names. It's incredible. One census record reveals twelve siblings to one of his ancestors. Have I already explained that this is incredible? We attach name after name after name before the sisters have to leave for another appointment. I'm amazed by the simplicity of adding thirteen people to a family tree. Thirteen people, connected. Within a half-hour's worth of mouse-clicking.

DeleteThe library is quiet, familiar. I smile the carpet, the shelves, the librarians, the computers, the books, the stairs, the elevator, reveling in being here. I'll probably always love coming here after my year long math-induced banishment because I realize the blessing of coming regularly now. As I crouch down near a shelf, I see my old friends (yes, I consider books friends. It means I have thousands :D). Grinning, I pull one out. My dad's voice startles me out of reading. "We've got to leave. Soon. The library's gonna close." He reminds me. I nod, and see two new books as I replace the one in my hands. Pulling them out, I peruse the description and then tuck them under my arm. A little while later, I talk friendly-like (That's a word ... I think. Spell-Check isn't getting on my case ...) with Ms. Grey. She's one of the funnest librarians. After a while, I check out arms full of fairy-tales, adventures, Shakespeare, Heyer and Port-City-Research books.
Dinner is fun. We're talking about a variety of things over pineapple, carrots, chicken and bread. Allan goes to get something. As he's coming back, he trips on something right behind me. Something cold and goopey lands on my neck and the back of my head. "What is it?" I ask, holding stock-still so it won't fall down my shirt.
"I'm so sorry!" He says, his voice sounding wide-eyed, apologetic and close to laughing.
"Oh..." Mom winces, coming to look.
"What is it?" I repeat, louder. I can't tell anymore than it's cold and gooey, and I wonder if it's applesauce.
"It's okay - it'll come off." She consoles. Everyone else is as stock-still as me, even Aaron and Johnny, the two brothers who were just arguing loudly.
"What is it?!!" I exclaim, imagining something bright and staining on the back of my neck, ruining one of my favorite shirts.
"I'm SO sorry; I'll get a napkin!" Allan says. Dad and my other brothers just keep staring at me.
"WHAT IS IT?" I'm starting to get really worried. Mom begins to wipe it off with her napkin.
"Mayonnaise."
Oh. That's white. It won't stain my- wait. What did she just say? What?!
"MAYONNAISE?" I choke out.
"Well, some people use it as a hair product," She tries to conciliate me as she sponges it out of my hair. "I'm not making that up.
"It's still NAAAASTY!" I wail. And then I realize, "Allan, because of you, I'm going to have to take a third shower today." He still looks apologetic and like he's holding back a smile.
A little bit later, Mom sorts out strawberries and blackberries into glass bowls and brings them to the table. The first whipped cream container she brings to the table only dribbles cream-colored ... vanilla-flavored cream. I dip the tip of my finger in the puddle. It tastes like melted vanilla ice cream. The next can is better. We all get small fluffy mountains of whipped cream on our berries, and for those of us who ask, a squirt in the mouth. I suggest mischievously to my mom that she should squirt it up Aaron's nose, and get the fluffy sweetness up my own nose, but I laugh and lick it off. Today's been awesome. Pure awesome.

ReplyDeleteToday was pretty chill. I basically read all day long. (Oh, I babysat for a couple hours tonight). I started this book last night and I finished it today. It's like 807 pages!? I was really surprised at myself. I mean obviously I love reading (if you can't tell) but I was seriously glued to this book. It's called, "Edenbrooke" by Julianne Donaldson. It's set in the 1800's and it's similar to Jane Austin type of books. I typically don't like reading those types of books but this one I definitely liked. Anyways, there is something about reading that just takes you places you could never imagine. I love reading, I could read all day if I could; haha today I totally did that. I used to hate reading which now if you talked to me it would be hard to believe; it's true though. When I was younger reading to me was so boring. Reading was like a chore; one of the chores that you dread and avoid it until you have to do it. ;) But then something changed, I got introduced to the, "Fablehaven" series. Something about reading those books just turned a trigger on for me. I started to like reading. It was hard for me to put the books down. I soon enjoyed what I had once dreaded. It soon turned into something that my mom would have to take away from me just to get me to do anything. She enticed me with food to take breaks from reading. (haha) Well that's pretty much all I have for today. It's not anything fancy but here it is for anyone who wants to read it. Thanks for reading this if you happen to glace at my slice. Thanks everyone! Keep up the good work. :D
I LOVE that book! So, I got it for my birthday, read the first ... chapter? Put it down in favor of a different, gripping book I was reading and didn't return to Edenbrooke for two weeks. Then. Then I knew that my grandparents would ask me how I enjoyed Edenbrooke, so I picked it up and continued to read. I got to the highwayman on the (2nd?) chapter and realized that this was no long-winded Austenian author. And from then on, I was lost in the wonder of Edenbrooke.
DeleteIf you like romances, clean Utah-written romances, this book is perfection. It's a modern version of the storytelling that Georgette Heyer and Jane Austen and Charlotte Bronte did. The heroine is brave, human, emotional, strong, kind, self-sacrificing, and amazing. The hero is dashing, humorous, handsome, gentlemanly and also amazing. The subtle and not-so-subtle wit had me dying on the floor.
I finished it the first time, and then proceeded to re-read it 8 times. In a row. Now, you might think - um, emma, that's not normal. Trust me, I know. But this book ... this book is SOOOOOO worth it. :D
And I completly agree with you about books, Issy :) Thanks for posting about one of my favorites!
I love the Fablehaven series! Brandon Mull is an amazing author, right? A wizard with words! I'm so obsessed with his books that I got all of them as soon as they came out!

ReplyDeleteFor some reason, I like to think of life on other planets. Not like slimy green aliens, but people just like us. I know somewhere in the scriptures it says something about multiple worlds. I wonder if those worlds know about us. I wonder if Jesus ever visited any of those worlds. Do they know about us?
I like to imagine that when I look up at the stars, somewhere is a girl just like me. She knows what it’s like to be me. She and I would be best friends if we knew each other. I like to think I’ll meet her someday. Probably not in this life, but in the next.
I had a great time with my friend Cameron this weekend. We spent about twenty four hours together. Cameron is so much fun. We are always doing funny and sometimes stupid things. Today he was pulling me around in my little brothers' wagon. I almost broke it and my mom was not very happy. Even though we don't always do the smartest things when we're together, I know we are good influences on each other. He is a true friend!

ReplyDeleteFriday 3 of my siblings are very, very sick. Now you must know that there are 8 children in my family, I being the oldest at age 16 and the youngest 5 months old. The three youngest are sick with a fever, and a horrible ear infection. Also my mom is sick with the same thing. I have been trying to help my mom get all the kids to their performances, school, soccer practice, and other such things and in the process I ended up just as sick as the rest of them. thus began today with 9 of 10 Tobiassons sick. Good luck dad your next..... may the odds be forever in your favor.
That sucks. I have 8 children in my family also!

ReplyDeleteDay 7. Let me tell you why I didn't slice on this day.
We were going skiing up at Brighton, and I was getting warmed up by going down the short, easy, bunny hill. I had gone down about five times, and I was planning on going on the bigger lift next. As I skied down the hill once more, my ski caught in the snow- it was hard from all the people who'd skied that day- and I flipped into the air, making a graceful arc, and landing beautifully right on my shoulder, which responded with a loud CRACK!
Yeah, so i broke my clavicle (coller bone), and now I have to wear a sling and get surgery to fix it. This is why I didn't do the slices over the weekend, and also why I'm writing this with one hand, very slowly.
I hope you feel better soon!!!!

ReplyDeleteI love my calling!!! Today I had a Stake Primary Training meeting. It was really awesome!! =D I learned so much about music and how to use it with the children. I am grateful for the inspiration of leaders who were teaching it. It's just so great! I think that this week will be a great chance to try some new things and see how it goes. I am very excited.
I am also so grateful for my calling; as a leader working with children I am being given an opportunity to help build up a righteous generation. I know that Heavenly Father loves these children and when they are out of primary they will remember two things. First how much their leaders loved them and second the music they learned while in primary.

ReplyDeleteWhen I was little, i loved playing in my tree house. I would put tons of blankets in it along with books, coloring books, and sometimes, I would do my school work in it. When I moved I was scared that i wouldn't have a tree house, but even my new house has one. My mom and I are going to rebuild it this summer for grand-kids. I loved being a kid and just goofing off!

ReplyDeleteI believe that friendship can refresh the soul, because friends are there to make you feel good. Jesus was friend to all, and I believe that a sweet friend can do it too. Friendship is like a seed, you have to nurture it every day in order for it to grow. Otherwise, if you don’t feed it, it will die. That doesn’t mean that you can’t start over. Just plant a new seed of friendship, and watch it blossom into a rose of friendship.

ReplyDeleteLate on Friday night my brother came up to spend the weekend with us. He goes to BYU Provo and lives down there but sometimes he comes up during the weekend. On Saturday we went shopping and later that night we went to see the third Hobbit. I cried (which I NEVER do) but not at the parts you would think people cried at. Haha. My sister jokes that I don't have regular emotions and only for animals if I do. Hint, hint.

It is a road. There are trees by the road and there are also telephone poles by the road. There are clouds above the road. There are yellow lines on the road. The dead grass by the road is brown. The road is long. There is a fence by the telephone poles, which are by the road.
About 3 years ago I and my good friends were looking over our camping supplies for our scout troop. The supplies were kept in the church's attic over the summer. Nestled in the supplies we found a big unopened jug of Sunny D. Rejoicing over our delicious loot we went to the kitchen to find cups. While my friends fetched the cups I noticed that something was off about our "fabulous drink". I found little white chunks dispersed about what seemed to be liquid. Upon opening the container my friends discovered the surface of "liquid" to have slime like texture. Jellow like chunks ran from the container as we emptied it into the sink. One of my friends proceeded to drink from the container. Grossed out and leaving the room I glanced back in to find him slurping up a chunk of the formidable solution.

DeleteI wouldn't drink something like that unless someone bet me 50 dollars or more to do it. Just thinking about the heat and chemicals that is in Sunny D would stop me. Nice description of what the substance looked like and felt like.
Being the change that you want in the world can be difficult. If thats saying thank you or even no to everybody, or being a missionary all the time, it doesn't matter. It is difficult, but that shouldn't stray you from being the change that you want or even need to be in the world.

ReplyDeleteWow so many people have such amazing skills and talents! I was admiring that in my friends today. Everyone I know is so talented and so brave. It's one thing to have a skill and be amazing at it but keep it to yourself then it is to go out there and be proud of it. It is a talent in itself to do that. I think that everyone has a talent, but if you don't know what it is that's not a bad thing. I know that I have a lot of things that I am proud of and I like to do but I don't actually show it to like, anyone. I think that there will be a time for everyones talents, the time just hasn't come up for most of us.

ReplyDeleteWhen I was seven-years-old, I could have told you who the street bully was on my street. I could have told you all the things that he did to me and my siblings that would justify my negative thoughts I had of him. He would throw mud, rocks, insults, and toys at us while we walked by his house. He could have been the rudest person in my life. One day, as I was riding my tri-cycle, he came up from behind me and sprayed water at me through the garden hose. At that moment, I snapped. All the bad feelings I had towards him became reality. I got up from my tri-cycle, walked over to him, and struck him in the face as hard as I could. His older brother came out, cradled the now crying child in his arms, and walked into the house. Years later from this predicament and I wish I could take it away. I wish I hadn't let myself go, but instead, controlled myself. That has been the first and the last time I have ever hit anyone, including my siblings, in the face. When I think about it, I never treated him like a friend. I never asked him if he wanted to play with me. I had no right to justify myself in allowing myself to think of him as an enemy. Don't allow yourself to become what you despise. Don't think that something won't happen yet form no barrier to stop it from happening. You must always stay on your guard and never forget the reason why you came here.
I really want sleep. Shows what procrastinating does for ya. Nothing at all that's what. Think of all the attention I give to it and it still does nothing for me!! I do enjoy sleep though. I really love dreaming. but it's the worst when you are having the best dream on a day you can sleep in and your sister comes and wakes you up for no good reason!

DeleteI love hiking. Most people would be forced to go hiking but I'm the one who forces people to go hiking with me. I've been hiking ever since i was two year old, and I love it. I almost have everything you need for backpacking in my room. The reason I say almost is because the one thing I don't have is a lightweight backpacking pot to boil water. Besides that, I have everything I need and I use it frequently. My favorite place to go backpacking is on the back of Timpanogos. I have hiked to the top of Timpanogos 5 and a half times. Three of those times I backpacked up and the backpack that I carried had an average weight of 30 pounds, I slept on or near the top.

ReplyDeleteMy family and I might be moving. My mother has been looking at houses for months now and we finally found one that all of us like. It has a pool and an online intercom thought the entire house. We can afford it which is amazing because it's so big. It's really exciting because we'll be able to fit everything into a new house. Our house is really small so everything is just stuffed into cabinets and drawers. We cleaned the entire house the other day so we could have someone inspect it. I found so many things I thought I had lost. Another thing we did was a DI dump. We gathered a bunch of stuff we didn't want and dumped it into a huge pile in the middle of the house. It took us forever to get everything into the car. For me, it was a pretty eventful weekend.
ReplyDeleteThats so cool. I haven't moved once in my life haha.

In my family we play a lot of Monopoly. Mainly because my brother collects them. Well, I'm pretty sure he does. He wants every game he can see. Monopoly is mini-life on a board. Rent, income taxes, stuff like that. I wouldn't say that it really prepares you for life ahead, but it informs or shows you sort of what to expect.
ReplyDeleteYesterday at track practice it was pouring rain! It was so much fun to run our workout in the pouring rain. It felt like a dramatic movie scene.
ReplyDeleteSo one time I dropped my phone and the screen cracked. It was a galaxy S III. Needless to say I was really sad. I then decided that I used my smartphone far too much. So I bought a flip phone instead of fixing my smartphone. I am a lot happier with myself now. But I really miss my smartphone and I hate my new phone..
ReplyDeleteToday, I went to seminary, went to school, went to practice, then came home and showered. Then I went to mutual... it was crazy! We played a game where we sat in a circle, one person in the middle. The person in the middle would call out two names, and they would run and try and touch him first. Only the person to the right side of the person who got called out would try and tackle them, and stop them from getting to the center! It was so much fun.
